Adding baby to reservation

I knew I wouldn't be able to do it online, so after booking our trip with us 2 adults and the other 2 kids, I called to add baby to the reservation. The CM I ended up with (who was a bit cranky) said we couldn't add baby until we know date of birth and sex (which we will find out on the same day, incidentally). We do know baby's name (regardless of sex) so I don't see the problem. Baby is due in July and our trip is not until November, so I guess I can make this phone call after the birth. Just thought it would be nice to cross that item off my list.

Any experience with this? Did I just get a disagreeable CM and should I try again? Or do I really need to wait?

I am currently pregnant and have a Disney cruise booked for next year. Our TA was able to book the reservation with the soon to be born child factored into the price but I will need to contact dcl (through my TA probably) to let them know a name and birthdate. Obviously I am going to wait until after the birth because I want everything to match up to passports and birth certificates for a cruise. Don't have any experience with WDW situation but seems same principles would apply.

Thanks! I'd be curious to hear what others might say about resort reservations.

My "baby" is 6 now, but I had no trouble putting him on the reservation before he was born. We didn't know the gender or name at the time of the booking, but they have to have something to enter into the system, so I just told them to put "Baby" as the first name and obviously use our last name for the baby's last name.

However, we were also doing a Grand Gathering event and for that they wouldn't take any of baby's info ahead of time. They said to book the rest of the family and then call back to add baby after the birth. I thought that was odd since he would be 5 mos at the time of the trip and therefore we would not have to pay for him to be at the event. I called back after he was born and they told me that the event was full and they weren't sure they could add him! Thankfully, they were eventually able to add him and all was well.

I was able to add my youngest before we knew gender with no problem, we changed it when he was born to add his name. They just put it in as "baby" lastname. This was DVC though, and over 2 years ago.

Ours was DVC too. Maybe that's the difference. :confused3

Success! Called again tonight and got a much friendlier CM. She took care if it without a problem and even kept congratulating me on the pregnancy and saying how cute it will be to have such a little one on such a magical trip. Score!
