Added on at SSR

We just received the document package for our 135 point add-on at SSR. Our original contract was in early 2007 so I guess we are right on schedule with our add-on? Thought we needed more flexibility to have sufficient points for seasonal differences.

Kudos to Doug Rapp, our DVC guide. He is just great to work with, very responsive and knowledgable.

Plan to use our developer points for a getaway this fall with DW.

We received the $10 credit per point, 100 developer points (must be used within 12 months) and the 135 October 2007 Use Year points immediately (with no maintenance fee on those points).

I asked for the Chicago "Doorway to Dreams" special incentive of 2 Annual Passes or $500 Visa Card but was unsuccessful. Our guide said it is required that you be in the Chicago DVC store in person to get the special incentives.

It is soooooooooo tempting. WE purchased our first DVC points (300) Jan. 31st 07 and I am ready for more. It seem like we had oodles of points then. We picked Oct. UY too....so we got 2006 points and 300 in developer and then 8 months later.....we were getting 300 more points. I NEED MORE POINTS.

The add-on price net of the current $10/pt credit for SSR is $94/pt. There are no closing costs when bought from Disney. Developer points are incentive points offered during the current incentive if you purchase at least 110 points (100 one time use points to be used within 12 months). A 160+ points purchase gets you 160 developer points and a 200+ points purchase gets you 270 developer points. I am not aware of any hidden costs associated with the developer points.

I suppose you might get a better price on a re-sale but you need to consider if the contract has been stripped of points (how many points are available, and when?) I believe there are closing costs associated with re-sale also. Just look at all the factors, weigh them and make your decision.

Both our original purchase and our add-on were through DVC and we had a very efficient and pleasant experience on both transactions.

Be aware the current incentives are available only for a limited time.

We are only looking to add 50 points. That is in line with the amount we have set aside for the purchase. At $94/pt, I would be looking at 4700. That is if the Add-ons allow you to go under 100 points. I am not concerned about the developer points. We would rather stay debt free.

If you do a 50 point add-on the price will be $104 per point. You have to but 110 points (minimum) to get the discount.

Ah. At 94/pt the price is virtually the same as TSS. Several contracts on TSS are at 85/pt. Then add 400 for the closing and you are at 93/pt. One problem with TSS is that you have to wait nearly 8 weeks due to ROFR. At 104/pt, it's a $700 difference. Still might be worth it as you avoid the 8 week ROFR. I would just have to wait another 2 pay checks.
