I was curious whether folks had any interest in one of the Orlando Universal Studios Resort Hotels being added to the DVC Concierge Collection.

Universal Stuidios has three resorts:
- Portofino Bay
- Hard Rock Hotel
- Royal Pacific

Regardless of what you might want, there's not a chance this will happen. In the Orlando area, Disney does not want to provide any encouragement for loyal Disney guests to leave the WDW property.

There are excellent II-affiliated timeshare resorts in Orlando, such as several Marriott Vacation Clubs -- but they're missing from the World Passport Collection list. Even DVC members at HHI don't have the option of trading into Orlando area Marriotts.

While I agree with HH, I can't help but wonder what DVC might think if members started requesting that Universal Resorts be added to the Conceirge Collection. (I know that you can request/suggest that DVC add a resort). I wouldn't expect it to happen, of course, but wonder if it would get them thinking a little harder about adding discounts/other inducements for members to remain on property. Just a passsing thought.

This would be like Hertz offering you free rentals at Avis;)

I can't imagine that DVC will ever offer CC options close to any theme park.

...imagining the points you would have to pay for such an exchange. As it is, Disney sticks it to the DVCer for an onsite exchange into the Poly/AKL, etc. You get one night at the Poly, and you give CRO 3-4 nights at your 1 Br DVC.

Sounds like a fair exchange....NOT.

I voted for one of the resort hotels, as I would like to see it added.

I doubt it would ever happen and if it did the exchange fee and the points would probably be too high.

I would like to see this happen, but I'm fairly certain it never will.

As an example: A feature of the DC was the hotel discounts offered through those Entertainment fund raiser books. There was even a directory search right on the DC website. However, from the DC site, or even in the supplied literature, if you tried to locate a hotel within a 50 mile radius of WDW, the search came back empty- no hotels availible. But if you went to the Entertainment official site and did the same search, there were dozens of hotels right outside WDW in all price ranges and styles. Disney doesn't care if you want to stay in Alaska or Texas, but they are not going to help you stay off property right outside their front door.

In the area of probabilities, I think we'll see another off-site DVC resort built in another state or country before we see Universal Studios Resort Hotels added to CC.

I also happen to love Universal hotels - but DVC points are expensive - you can sometimes get the RP for $99 a night - and the other two for a little more.

so until they are up in the range of WDW deluxe resorts - when I have to paid $350.00 a night to stay there - then I would consider it a fair exchange.

How about renting your points on the DVC rental board and then using the money to stay at these hotels. Won't that work for you?

Personally, what I would like to see is a USF development similar to DVC. Stay onsite using UVC (Universal Vacation Club) points for a few days with FOTL access, then move over to your favorite DVC resort for the remainder of your stay.

But that's getting a little too far afield from the original post in this thread. Hmm, maybe it's time to start a new thread....

More chance of a DVC offering on Mars , IMHO. Disney would never offer people the chance to stay on it's biggest competitor.

On Mars the rooms really would be tiny. Transportation costs would probably prohibit a yearly visit, although the space center is only a 2 hour drive. Mears could offer a grocery stop on the way. The bug problem would be solved. What activities for children could they offer....

How about one in Colorado or Vermont for skiing??
That would get me to buy some more points!

So what would we do the other nine months of the year ?

Golf. :) Well, not me personally, but someone!
We go up to Peek 'n Peak each winter to ski and it's not like the place dies come April. They have concerts and golf and a bunch of other stuff going on. I think they've even got one of those team building rope course things that everyone just LOVES so much! :)
Skiing in Colorado starts in November and my sister has been out there the last few Aprils for one last skiing hurrah. So that's about 6 months.
I know it'll never happen, but a girl can dream!
