Add park hopper

I'm also interested as the family traveling with us in June bought single-park tickets but thought they had hoppers. I check reservation calendar and there is availability for their days/parks that they want, I just can't figure out how to explain the upgrade process.

I read that you couldn't add it until you were at the park, but I have never tried. You could call and ask, but I know you can't add them online.

You can't upgrade existing tickets to park hoppers other than at the ticket booths AND you will lose your reservations when doing so. Some people have been told over the phone they could buy new PH tickets and request a refund of the single park tickets but YMMV there and, again, you lose your original park reservations/have to book new ones with the PH tickets.

For the OP who has a package for which actual tickets may have not yet been issued there might be some flexibility there. I would suggest you call WDTC and see if they can help.

It amazes me that they can't figure out a better way to do this...the one time people WANT to give Disney more money and they make it so hard! LOL

Yeah if it's that complicated no thanks. I'll keep my $200ish..

I may try to call. We don't have actual tickets yet.

For real we will lose our reservations if we upgrade AT the park? If so.. and I don't say this very often.. that's stupid.

I would think they can just add park hopper once you’ve scanned in once. I did that at Disney World, but I know it can be different.

I think it might be because the reservations come from different pools - the single park reservations are separate from the park hopper reservations, which are separate from the MK reservations, and of course hotel has its own special bucket too. It is frustrating :(. Why can't they just take our money and fix it!

Even so, someone at their customer service online/phone should be given an override or something to manually add a reservation even if the pool is sold out for situations like this. It's ridiculous that only the ticket booths have this ability imo.

So..

I decided to call. They answered right away! The first person I talked to was so nice and was like "sure I can help
You"

I thought wow! And then after a bit she goes "I am going to have to transfer you to a supervisor to help finish this.."

And now I've been on hold for 15 mins..

I have a meeting here in a bit so I can't stay on hold.. seriously Disney..

It definitely DOES NOT work this way at DLR. As mentioned, likely because of the different reservation ticket "buckets". It really is shocking that they don't have a better solution for this.

Sorry, I meant I would have thought that until someone said you couldn’t. It still doesn’t make sense that they couldn’t just add it when you already have reservations and have already checked into the park once. Weird on their part.

Are you staying on site? If so, it should not be an issue. If you are staying off site it’s a huge issue, especially if there aren’t any park hopper reservations available currently for your dates.

I agree with you, it’s really dumb. It’s not good for guests or Disney. 🤷‍♀️

Yes in 2020, Disney has processes that can occur literally one place in the world, the DLR ticket booth. So ridiculous.
Similar happens for expired tickets. I was told only at the ticket booth although eventually found a CM who said I could buy new tix and send in the old ones for a refund (it worked). In this case, it is complicated by the separate reservation needed (which is also silly, a ticket should come with a reservation ).

That’s good to know! I was planning on seeing if I could move mine to Hoppers when I got there, but I had no idea you would lose your reservations! That’s dumb.

Antother thing to keep in mind is they won’t even allow you to upgrade if there are not park hopper reservations available for the days you are going to the parks. So it could be moot if the parks are full (which they often are in the days leading up to them).

We aren't on site *cries in teacher salary*

Honestly.. I think I give up on the hopper! We will be fine doing 1 park and focusing on it. I am going to say that we did WDW twice since we did DLR and.. wow... one thing WDW has going for it is how easy it is to modify you stuff online over there. The whole system on website/app for DLR drives me nuts. My other vent is that because prices have risen since we booked it would cost us $700 more to add 1 night at our good neighbor hotel because they are required to book a whole new package.. they can't just add the night. Whole thing is really irritating and if I didn't get a really
Good deal it would totally turn me off from booking directly with Disney.

I still have no idea if I can change to a park hopper with our package since we don't have actual tickets yet.. but I'm really ehhhh on spending the $$ now.

Just for some other history. We had another package booked with a different hotel before this one and I wanted fo add genie+ to it.. but the ticket prices had gone up and Disney refused to let us add genie+ To the package without making us pay the new ticket price..

There is no reason adding a park hopper shouldn't take 2 seconds. If you can adding genie + in the app you should just be able to add the hopper with 1 click.
