I read people posting things like "we usually stay at a 2BR at SSR but thinking of adding on 50 pts at BLT so we can make ressie at 11 mo mark". Now, there's no way you're staying for any length of time at BLT on just 50 pts. Does just having the 50 pts at a resort allow you to make 11 mo. ressie's combo'd with pts from other resorts? If not, they must be just staying one night, or using 3 years worth of points and/or staying in a much smaller room, right?

Yes, the 50 points at BLT are the only ones that you can use there at 11 months. So, with banking and borrowing, you have 150 points every 3 years for a stay.

Points always follow home resort during the 7 - 11 month booking period. So, BLT points are only good at BLT until 7 months out and SSR points are only good at SSR until 7 months out.

As you mention, some buy smaller contracts so that they can combine their stays at different resorts by using banking/borrowing.

I also think there are people out there who own several resorts because they use them for different trips. For example, I know there are several owners who own just enough BWV or BCV points to stay for a long weekend in October for F & W, but might also own VWL points to stay there in December.

I own 86 points at BLT with the idea of staying there every other year or even every 3 years since I also own at 4 other DVC's.
