add on and the 11 month window?

We have 200 points at VWL and love it. Thinking re getting add on points, not a million but enough to give us more flexibility as I share / give what I have to my daughters and their families as they ask for them.

We tried to get BCV and then BW for this year's F&W. I called exactly at the 7 month window and was blocked for both (am now wait listed and am not holding out much hope, so I will happily use the VWL).

So I am wondering, if I buy a small package at BC or at BW would I then be entitled to book there at the 11 month window? Will I be able to combine my VWL points or am only permitted to use what I had purchased for that resort?

Any help is appreciated.

The points you buy at BCV can be used for the 11 month window at BCV and the points you buy at the BWV can be used there for the 11 month window.

You cannot combine points from different resorts until the 7 month window.

Some members bank and borrow and stay at a particular resort every other year.

Or they use the BCV points for a fall trip for F&W and the VWL points for a longer trip another time.

I was in your exact same situation 2 years ago. Our first contract was at VWL. I tried to get into HHI during the summer and couldn't get in so I bought a 50 pt contract and went for our first trip this past June. Then I wanted BCV and could not get in during April break so I bought a 100pt contract there. I like having the three contracts and banking and borrowing to meet our needs so that I can book at 11 months. Our travel dates are not that flexible since we need to work around a school calendar so this works out best for us.

You can book at 11 months at any resort were you own - with the points you own there - and at 7 months with points you own elsewhere.

You are better off booking all you can with the points you own there - doing the one time point 'rent' from DVC directly (if you are really close to having enough points for an entire stay)- or renting points on the rental market if you need a considerable amount. You can find point rentals anywhere from $5.00 a point (really low price - last minute point ready to expire) or $12.00 average for rental.

Rather than booking the first half of your vacation and holding out for hope at the 7 month window - book as much as you can as soon as you can to get what you want.

OR if you don't mind changing resorts - book the first 1/2 at one home resort and the 2nd half at your other home resort.

If you want HHI or VBR - there isn't much you can do to book your entire stay at 11 months - other than renting.

We own at three resorts - and one of those contracts we bought with the intention of using it every 3 years with a bank - borrow - use frame of mind. OR using those points for a Disney Cruise since the Maint. Fees are really low - and we don't plan to use that as a real 'home' resort.

Have Fun!

Just to clarify. The one time points you can get through DVC can not be used for reservations during home resort booking time. You can only get them at the 7 month mark.

Sandisw -
You are correct - my apologies -

Here it is from the DVC site -

"One-time-use vacation points used for Disney Vacation Club resort reservations can only be used up to 7 months prior to arrival."

I was reading it incorrectly - I was reading it in the inverse.
