Adam Levine: "I hate this country"

It wasn't a political statement at all.

No, it wasn't. It was childlike hyperbole in a moment of frustration instead of sanctimonious pseudointellectual political commentary we see from many celebs. I honestly think it made him more relatable because it was genuine and unrehearsed. People are acting like he's Jane Fonda though.

Well crap, I hate the outcome too. I agree with Adam. pirate:

What is an Adam Levine? The sexy little thing, I'd love to have in my Christmas stocking. I'd even overlook his tats.

I took it as I hate the stupid people who live in this country that don't know talent when they see it.

NOT as I hate living in this country, the freedom, and quality of life we have.
I seriously doubt he means he wishes he lived somewhere else.

Sometimes people say I hate this country & they really mean I hate the politicians currently in office & the direction we are going.

Agree! He was just ticked about losing two great singers.

I'm not singling you out, I just chose to quote you..

To me, she didn't bash the President at all. She said she was ashamed he was from Texas. That's all. She didn't say he sucks or she hoped someone would hurt him.
If someone said they were ashamed our Prime Minister was from their province it wouldn't bother me one bit. I know there wouldn't be the uproar that there was over the Dixie Chicks.

It's cool that that wouldn't bother you, and it probably shouldn't have bothered as many people as it did as badly as it did.

That said, it was quite clearly meant to be insulting. If someone from my state said they were ashamed Harry Truman was from Missouri, the only possible motive for saying that would be to utter an insult to Truman.

I don't like Adam Levine one bit, but I think he said it out of frustration and anyone who is offended needs to get a grip.

I agree. I don't care for Adam Levine at all, but I can't believe how badly people are taking his comment.

My problem with Natalie Maines isn't what she said, it is where she said what she did. Adamtells Blake he hates him all the time, but I doubt he really does.

Natalie Maines is really a piece of work anyway!

Texan Natalie Maines reveals she’s never been a fan of country music

No, it burned my ears,” Maines told Cowan about country music.

Is that hypocritical, considering that Maines along with sisters Emily Erwin and Martie Maguire sold more than 30 million albums in the United States as part of the hit-making country trio the Dixie Chicks

I am sure it didn't bother her one bit to spend the money she made singing country.

I saw that comment the other day and had to laugh. The Dixie Chicks were the twangiest people in music at one time :rotfl:

One of my few "claims to fame" is that Adam and I enjoyed a nice date back in 2002 when they were playing at bars and clubs ... I was intrigued at how nice he was and how funny he was as well... Celebs get a bad rep but he wasn't a celebrity then and I found his humor to be hilariously dry. When I read this, I took it as a grain of salt. He seemed very quick to make statements that were very dry and out of context, could be offensive I suppose. Celebs seem to have the life but I am def not jealous as I wouldn't want everything I say dissected.

As a career military spouse and a veteran myself... I'll save my offended underpants to twist on something that deserves it. This doesn't.
DH and I saw it, skipped back a few times to make sure it really said what we thought it said. At first DH thought he meant to say he hated country music, but the comment was made right after HIS country singer was saved. And I knew right away it was going to be taken the wrong way and blown way out of proportion.

Personally I was more offended the night before when Carson Daly said over and over again how Blake's performance of "Boys Round Here" was perfect for celebrating Memorial day. Apparently Mr. Daly has no idea what Memorial Day is commemorating.
Nothing says "thank you for paying the ultimate price for our freedom" like Chew Tobacco, Chew Tobacco, Chew Tobacco, Spit.

You dated Adam, too?!
