Adam and Katies 10/2/2010 SBP/Attic/?? ~ brainstorming!

Ok time to catch up! I am super exhausted and supposed to be working...

Thanks meghan! I told DF about the candy bar idea and he likes it! :goodvibes

Ok so a few quick updates:

This weekend i did, however, notice a slight problem with the whole renting a tent idea.... although our backyard is pretty large there are three trees in it that might not allow us to pitch a big enough tent. One of the trees is smack in the middle of the yard. So now i'm thinking we might rent a little tent just to cover the food and scatter the tables through out that yard. It'll be cheaperto rent a smaller tent and we wont feel horrible if we rent it and the day of the party it rains and we don't even get to use it. Anyone think it'll be wierd to only have the food under the tent?:confused3

I also started thinking about hair and make-up. I'm thinking of using patricia LeJune (hope i spelt that right) because of all the great feedback DISbrides have been giving her. It is worrying me slightly that i won't have a trial before the actual wedding day. Anyone else not having or not had a trial run?

I looked on her website and she is pretty reasonably priced, when i was going to have a home wedding i asked my hairdresser how much my hair would be and she said 85$ and i remember having my make-up done by MAC for a prom and they charged alot too. ( I don't remember how much exactly because it was 6 years ago) So i'm happy about her pricing!:thumbsup2 I noticed though that she does airbrush, traditional make-up, and mineral make-up and its all 60$ each. Which kind of make-up should I use? I have both traditional make-up and some mineral stuff but for a wedding (and a hot florida wedding) does it make a difference in what i would wear? What are you girls doing?

Oh and another thing i just realized on my way into work this morning (yea my vacation is over... back to real life :headache:) is that the next time DF and I have atleast a week of together will be the wedding/honeymoon :scared: Yea totally freaked me out.... if i wasn't awake before that thought ran into my head i sure as heck was after. :rotfl2:

Alright well i'm off to go get some work done since its my first day back. :surfweb:

Oh I am trying to figure out hair and makeup stuff too! I used mineral makeup all last week and thought it did really well in the heat...It didn't smear or looking greasy (or feel greasy!!)

Sorry about the tent thing. You should get someone to come look at the backyard before you decide anything...You might be suprised!!

So two really quick updates from work....

DF and I narrowed it down to two JP's that we really liked. Rev. Jack Day and Rev. Tim Herring. We e-mailed them both to get some general info so that we could see who we liked the best and hopefully book them by the end of the summer. Rev. Tim has gotten back to me alot faster then Rev. Jack and he has already answered alot of questions for us. Rev. Jack's email was kind of generic and just asked us to request a "jack pack" which we did. I'm sure he and rev tim get TONS of emails so i'm sure the whole generic email thing is just protocol but for whatever reason the fact that Rev Tim got back to us so quickly made me feel like he was more personable than rev. jack. This could obviously be totally false but just MHO. Anyone have any info on either one of them?

Ok so the other thing is that DF and I decided to change our wedding time... AGAIN! :rotfl2: After talking about it DF wants to know why we just dont get married at the 10:30 spot.... this bugged me because I asked him about the 10:30 slot and he said "No way i'm not getting up that early!".... he's a dope. He said he'd rather get married in the morning because neither one of us will be able to sleep the night before anyway(I already said that but he must have forgot:rolleyes1), and we could take everyone to lunch after which will be less money than taking them to dinner, AND we could still have the whole rest of the day in the parks with everyone. :thumbsup2 I'm also assuming that most people (unless having a park location) don't want the early morning slot because they need to be up so early to get ready.... so maybe that'll help us get the day we want... possibly.... :confused3

Alright well thats all for now... i better go get some work done... Talk to you girls later!

Eric loved Jack Day in the video we saw. I think he's a good choice!

And Yay for 10:30. I bet the weather will be so nice AND you get the whole day to enjoy each other and celebrate!!

Ok so i'm starting to get really really confused. :scared:

Confusion maker number 1

Df said to me last night that he was thinking maybe we should wait until the summer after we get married to have our at home reception. :confused3 So we'd be getting married in October and then waiting until june/july of 2011 to have our reception. I understand that he's afriad the weather won't be nice enough and stuff but that just seems like a Loooooong time to wait to have the reception. My suggestion to him was maybe moving the wedding up alittle but to like the second or third week in september so that it'll still be warm and sunny in New Hampshire. He was totally against it... i mean how much of a difference does a couple of weeks make? Then i thought well maybe we could move the wedding to Feb. of 2011 and then have a reception in May but idk... i'm so confused.

Confusion maker number 2

I went to my cousins b-day cook-out last weekend and my aunt cornered me and asked exactly what we were doing for the wedding. :scared: I told her that nothing was set in stone (liar!!!!!!!!) but that we were pretty sure we wanted to have a small disney wedding and then have a big party at our house after. She seemed ok at first and totally down with the whole thing. THEN she comes out with, "so I was looking at disney weddings and your escape wedding allows 20 people right? so i thought me, your uncle, and the kids could come down. If the kids are an issue we can just put them on the bus to the MK and your uncle and I will just go to the wedding ceremony" :scared1: WHAT!?!?!? I tried not to freak out and be ok with it but the more i thought about it the more than defeats the purpose of the SMALL wedding. I'm also going to feel terrible if all these people from my side go to the wedding and adam only has 4 people on his side. :guilty: My uncle is my god father and both he and my aunt are important to me and i'd like them to come.... but thats not fair to adam or other members of the family. Anyone else have this problem? Oh and how do i tell them that I want everyone GONE by Monday so we can have a honeymoon ALONE???

Confusion Maker number 3 (this is a fun confusion maker)

Where to have lunch after the ceremony? I looked into a few places and here are some that i like...

Kona Cafe
Olivias
Captians Grille
Turf Club Bar and Grille
The Wave
Grand Floridian Cafe

Anyone eaten at these places and have any input?popcorn::

Alright well i'm off to go try and make DF move the wedding to September.... hahaha

Wow!!:rotfl: You have a lot going on.

Here's my input on September

Lol HOT HOT HOT!!!!

K and February....
crowd.jpg

:lmao: Depending on when Presidents is and Februrary recess it could get CROWDED!! I think you should stick to October.

And after ceremony lunch...

Kona Cafe- YUCK! I used to love the food but our service was HORRIBLE last week
Olivias-Never been...not crazy about OKW
Captians Grille-Possibility
Turf Club Bar and Grille-Not crazy about SSR either...not Disney enough
The Wave-Like this!
Grand Floridian Cafe- Didn't Lynn have a not so great experience here??

What about Ohana? Or something at Port Orleans? It was so pretty when we were there.

Yay to being back! Missed you!

Katie, good luck on moving the wedding to September! We always travel to Disney then and it is so less crowded, we love it! Plus you can do free dining! Not that I am partial or anything since I'm having a September Disney Wedding!

DF and I were in disney Sept. of 2007. I loved the low crowds! It was awesome! It can get alittle steamy though... but nothing too crazy like july. :scared: I'm still brain storming in my head about the idea. What I'm thinking is that if we have the wedding sept 24 or 25 we could have the home party at our house on Columbus Day weekend. Its normally still nice here and a long weekend helps! :thumbsup2 If we stick to when we have orginally planned the home party would be 10/30 which will probably be too cold and is the day before halloween. It's also on a Saturday which means all the towns will be trick or treating that night. :scared:

Ok time to catch up! I am super exhausted and supposed to be working...

:woohoo: I missed ya twinnie!

I'm still trying to research places to eat. so that isn't the definate list. I'm glad you approve the 10:30 wedding time.... i'm really excited about this! i'm glad you have good things to say about Jack too! This is good! As far as Sept. goes we're going to try and do it late in september so hopefully not too hot. and I'm throwing the February Idea out the window... its with September or October thats it! I'm going to talk to DF tonight. If he thinks its a good idea i'll call and make sure its available with Disney and Randy. :goodvibes

And you need to post pictures and a TR girlie! Get on that i'm dying to read about your awesome trip!:woohoo:

Hey Katie! We had Rev Tim Herring and loved him. We were going to have Jack Day, but he was booked on our wedding day, so he recommended Tim. Tim has a great personality, he was perfect for us.

Our wedding was at 10. LOVED having it so early. It was great. You just have to get up early to get ready lol, my butt was up at 4:30 and Ana was at my room by 5. LOL.

I loved that we had the rest of the day to have fun, and celebrate with our family. We spent the rest of the day in the MK with everybody. So much fun. Ended it with Wishes. Awesome day.

Alright well i'm off to go try and make DF move the wedding to September.... hahaha

I honestly think The Wave would be a great place for a wedding luncheon. It is so nice in there, and quiet. Kona is good too. Forget the GFC, we had our luncheon there and had some issues.

The Wave is soooooo good. Trust me!! Kona is too.

Awe thanks for the advice Lynn!!! I'm excited to have my "recpetion" in a theme park ended by fireworks! I think its better than having the old traditional receptions everyone else has!

I'm glad you liked Rev Tim too! I'm starting to lean more towards him but we'll see. :goodvibes

Ok so i talked to DF...... drum roll please..... He said WE CAN MOVE UP THE WEDDING!!!!!!!!!! :dance3::yay::woohoo::banana::cheer2:

Ok now i can't get carried away yet. I explained to him the reasoning behind moving it up a couple weeks and he is totally down for it! He said any saturday in September is fine with him! :lovestruc So here is what i'm hoping for.... 9/24/2010 @ 10:30 @ SBP I figure it'll work out so that we can have the home party on columbus day weekend, its late in september so hopefully it won't be AS oppressivly hot, AND it's a WHOLE month sooner!!!! :woohoo::yay:

I emailed Kristi Davis and Randy to see if its available.... i'm so excited!!!!

I heard from Kristi (our WC) and she said nobody else that she knows of is interested in that date and time. :thumbsup2 She told me to check in at the one year mark and make sure no wishes brides stole it from me... please don't! :lmao: ... and then we'll only have to wait until January to book!!

Now i'm just waiting for an email from Randy.....

they say sept has really low crowds and honestly the heat difference for a month wont really do anything for you! and really you have less time to have to wait

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :mad::headache:

I can't even tell you how upset i am right now! MAYJA vent!

Ok so before i posted on the DIS I was talking to my co-worker (laura) about possibly changing the date. She was saying how she thought it was a great idea and that it makes WAYYY more sense... ect. Now our office is VERY small and our manager sits right behind us. So i leaned back and said "hey what do you think about that idea?" Because i KNOW she heard us. And she was like "oh yea go for it." So yesterday I was sitting here and Laura asked me if i'd heard anything from the WC and I told that I did and was really excited and the my wedding was on september 24th! Then out of nowhere my manager goes "Ummm.... no you're not!" Apparently she didn't know that we were talking about 9/24 and that is when her step-daughter is getting married.... So trying not to be bridezilla I said "Oh, OK well adam said either the 24th or the 18th... i thought you said she was getting married on the 18th which is why i picked the 24th but we acn switch it." to which she replied "that doesn't work either!" Apparently my manager wants to take 4 days off for her step-daughters wedding ad since we can't take time off at the same time we won't be able to do either weekend..... :furious: She also made a nasty remark about how i need to just "stick to something" i wasn't very happy. Oh and alittle side note... we have had issues where two people have been out at the same time before and thats why we have a PER DIEM person!!!! You mean to tell me that with over a years notice we can't get someone to cover the shift????

I don't know why this makes me so mad but it does. Apparently she didn't hear laura and I talking (which is B/S) and thats fine but why?!?!?! I thought Adam and I had everything figured out... and I wanted Meghan to stalk my wedding!!! :lmao: I was talking to adam about it when i got home and he wasn't happy with it either. He said that hopefully things will be different with the company and we'll be able to figure something out but that we're getting married when we want to regardless of anyone else. :snooty: I'm really trying not to be bridezilla about this and i'm looking into all other options but its really really hard! :sad1: Anyone have any suggestions for me?

OMG OMG ill be at disney then! :cool1:
i dont know whos more excited
me or you!
lol

they say sept has really low crowds and honestly the heat difference for a month wont really do anything for you! and really you have less time to have to wait

and now you have to change your ticker!

I know i know!!!! If something is figured out with work you HAVE to stalk my wedding!!! DF and I were there in Sept. and i loved it the crowds were super low and the heat didn't bother me. I hope something is worked out.

You know what we do to Brides who steal dates...:lmao:

:lmao::rotfl2: We terminate them! :cool2:

Haha you made me think of this...
Its_Tough_to_be_a_Bug_3.jpg

Sorry to hear about work. Can you talk to her again and explain it's over a year away??

problem solved- find a new company

:surfweb:

No but seriously?! come on now, with this much time the company cant figure something out. Its your wedding?!
and this stepdaughter is it a travel wedding? and if so, ok maybe i see her needing that much time off-but otherwise...really? because if its not, im not even taking 4 days off before my own wedding :rotfl:

Maybe you can ask to meet with her privately and explain why you are planning to move it up and if anything can be worked out. Maybe shes just the type of person that wants to make a point that she was in the spotlight and try and put you down a little? not sure why as that isnt very nice or disney like :snooty: lol

im not a happy person now
i was going to be like paprazzi jumping out of bushes :rotfl2:

you could also call in september, make sure your sept date/dates are available and stay penciled in, and then when october rolls around..."conviently" a wishes bride stole your day!! and you dont want to go any later into october because that would make the issue of the at home reception even more troubling.....thus the need for the september wedding

im a genious i know ( i just cant spell)
:rotfl:

I know i am so aggrevated with the whole thing. I was talking to adam about it and to be honest this job is burning me out... big time. I've had enough of nasty mean patients and insurance companies changing all their policies and what not. But i tried looking for another job before and nobody came close to offering me the kind of money i'm getting paid here... or the great hours. I do want to go back to school and get something... anything... whether its a certificate, associate, pretty much any piece of paper that says i'm not a loser. I tried the whole college thing before and it wasn't for me so i'm trying to find another kind of program thats more hands on. It would be great to get a "real" career before the wedding but i doubt thats going to happen... sigh...

But I could definatly use your "oh no! October was booked!" approach! and no her daughters wedding is NOT a destination wedding its a function hall thats like 10 mins from her house.... i mean come on! When it gets closer to the one year mark i think i'll bring it up again and ask if we could figure something out because i REALLY want you to be my papparrazi!!!! :lmao:

Holy cow...I made my way over to your pj...and you have a dilemma on your hands don't ya? Here is my humble opinion about the situation...it's your wedding, and I understand that her step-daughter is getting married as well, but why should you have to re-arrange your wedding to suit her needs? I would sit down and try to talk to her rationally, and explain that it's a year away, there has to be some way to work things out, it really isn't fair for her to expect you to sacrifice. That's my opinion on the issue, but I have worked with some real witchy people in the past...and I understand how irrational people can be...
On a side note, and the reason I made my way over here was to let you know that I talked to my Mom, and she said you spoke with Mary about the necklace...I know you guys were worried about adjustments and what not...but if you really do want her to make a necklace for you, I would be more than happy to go over to her place and be her mannequin so she can figure how to do adjustments....just thought I would throw that out there for you. Good luck with your whole work situation...I will be peeking in to see how it all works out.:goodvibes

OMG sarah!! You are so sweet!

I was actually just going to PM you! It was so funny, Mary thought i was close by... I was like i'm a few states away! She was very helpful though. She told me if i find a necklace i like, to use it as inspiration and go buy the crystals and materials. she said she'd help me out and tell me how to put it all together. You both are so sweet to offer to help me!:goodvibes I was going to ask you where you got your materials from.

Ok I dug through all of my receipts, I bought the crystals from http://www.chandelierparts.com/, I ordered the Swedish cut almond crystals...I ordered one 3in, and six 2.5in...but if you want them smaller I would go with one 2in, and six 1.5in...and for the little in betweeners I bought 18mm amethyst octagon, all of these crystals come in all kinds of colors. I bought the chian from www.ohiobeads.com, and that was 2x silverplated chain #3: bar link chain, everything else I got at Hobby Lobby. Mary did have to buy some head pins and spacers, but she can tell you where to get that stuff. I bought all the stuff with the intention to do it myself...but it was just too much for me...so I stuck it in a box and gave it to Mary...she used her own neck as a guide and I think it turned out really well, whether you do it yourself or have Mary do it...I know it's going to be beautiful!:goodvibes

I bought the chian from www.ohiobeads.com, and that was 2x silverplated chain #3: bar link chain, everything else I got at Hobby Lobby. Mary did have to buy some head pins and spacers, but she can tell you where to get that stuff.
