I want a car next time. This may be a year away, unless I can talk DH into it. I have a 2002 trailblazer with one year left on payments. It has 75,000 miles on it so I don't know if we should go ahead and trade it in or keep it as an "extra"--DD#1 will be 16 in a year (shudder). Personally I don't feel kids need to have their own cars and she can darn well drive my car when I am not using it, but I digress.
Since I've had minivans since 92, until I got the trailblazer, I am thinking of going back to a car--preferably one with good mileage. I was looking at saturn vues but their reviews are awful. Everyone I know with an accord or camry loves it.
The only downside is most of these cars have BORING colors. Ideally I'd like a blood red car--then maybe electric blue (not sky blue) and then black, as I have now. Most of the accords or camrys I see are that boring taupe color or a silver/gray color. ZZZZZZZZZZ.
Any input on Accords or camrys?

I just traded off my accord recently for an SUV. I now wish I would have just kept the accord. I find that the interior was really no frills, sometimes not all that comfortable on long trips and kind of cramped. On the other hand, gas mileage was awesome, it had a lot of get up and go when you needed it and it was kind of fun to drive. The only mechanical problem I ever had with the Accord (it was a 1999 by the way) was with the gas cap setting off the check engine light if you twisted it and it clicked more than once. Other than that, the car was never in the shop. I didn't even consider a newer Accord when trading so I can't tell you if they have changed the interior too much. It just seemed the old one was kind of "hard" if you know what I mean. What I will tell you is that they tend to hold their value much better than most cars.

As far as colors - mine was that silver/beige so I can't help you out much there!

Honda does make a pretty deep red color, but believe it's available in the EX model only. You can go to Honda.com or the Toyota site and "build" your own car. That'll show you the colors available for each model type. I've still got my 2001 Accord, which was my first brand new car. It's only got about 54000 miles on it so I'm not in "need" of a new car, but sure would like one. The 2008 Accord is going to have a new body style, but I like the newest Camry style myself.

I have a '97 Accord, and we've been very happy with it; it runs great even today, though due to age alone we'll be looking to replace it in the next year or two.

At the time we purchased it, the best ratings for 4-Door sedans were on these two, the Accord and the Camry. I think the reason we finally got the Accord over the Camry was because it came with a moonroof, whereas we'd have to pay extra for it on the Camry.

Over the intervening years the top rating has gone back and forth between these two as well. I've seen some gorgeous colors offered on these cars, but I haven't checked 'em out recently. They're not all grey or taupe, though for some reason those colors are very popular. :confused3

I have a 2007 Camry and got the boring silver, but I use to have a Camry that was salsa red and I got lots of compliments on it.

My DH is looking at them now and is thinking about getting one now.

We took a trip last weekend and got 33 mpg. That was really nice!

We have a 2002 Black Camry and a 2007 Deep/Dark Gray Camry. Know what? To be honest I like the black the best. Black just does something for a car. Don't get me wrong I like the dark gray but sorry I didn't wait for the black. Good Luck with whatever you choose.

I used to have a Camry and I loved it. Bought it brand-new. It was Dark Green with grey interior and I tinted the windows. Sunroof, CD player - Drove it til the wheels fell off. I loved my Kimmy-Cam!!!! That was back in 1992 and I don't think the prices have changed too terribly much since then.

I have an 04 Accord that is Dark Blue... Metallic :) I LOVE it.
It gets 30mpg. More if I only do interstate driving on a long trip.
I got the heated leather seats sun roof, 6 disc changer package. I LOVE it.
I think it is a great car (I had SUVs before this car and wanted something COMFORTABLE).

I think I am going back to a mini van next time though.... our family is growing by a new DIL in may and I know we will have grandkids someday soon so we are fast running out of room.... I will want to have plenty of room for all of us to go together. Right now, we have plenty for all 5 of us, but when a grand comes along we will need more room..... I will probably look at the Honda van.

We are considering a new Camry, and we like the white, but I am seeing TONS of white...I like the salsa red, and Blue ribbon, but DH's car is dk blue...that brings us to black or salsa red. I am usually not a fan, but I have to admit the body style of the '07 Camry looks dang good in black...I know what you mean about real red tho...the salsa is on the side of a brick tone, nice, but not "hey, get a load of me" red. I absolutely refuse to go gold or siver...MAYBE the dark titanium gray...but not if I can help it. AND, we're pushing it trying to afford one anyway, but a girl can dream. DH wants to get the RAV4, I looked at a white one ( as I said, I like white) but all it kept reminding me of was a Storm Trooper from Star Wars...:rotfl2: the same look to the molded plastic...DH thinks I 'm crazy, but I can't get it out of my head.
If it's any help, opur DD (16) and a new driver, likes how both the accord and camry handle, she likes the body of the camry better. She is small tho, 5'2" and does have trouble seeing to judge the hood length on both, but not the RAV4 or CRV....too bad we're about 5K short of buying anything! ( must've been those 10 days at WDW last year for our 20th!)

We've got an white 06 Accord LX SE. We chose white 1 because we liked how it looked, 2. you don't want a dark car when you live in Florida, 3 does not show dirt as much as a darker car.

If you really enjoy driving, get an Accord. If you're looking for a more isolated ride, get the Camry.

Car and Driver recently had a family car comparo:
order of ranking:
1 Accord
2 Fusion
3 Sonata
4 Camry

http://www.caranddriver.com/compari...nata-lx-v-6-vs-2006-toyota-camry-xle-v-6.html

More recently they had of comparo of 4 cyl family sedans:
Accord was first, Camry was fifth.

Accord SE wins first place again....even against the new Altima and Camry.

In fact, the Camry was in 5th place, even behind a Kia! Their opinion of Camry, good car, but boring to drive.

I have a 2005 salsa red and really love it.:thumbsup2

I am on my second Camry and love it. Mine is spruce green but I understand what you mean about the colors. I just get the one that is least objectional to me.

Ford makes some beautiful blue cars and so does Chrysler but hey, Toyota and Honda are the brands we choose for very good reasons.
