Accomodating Picky Eaters

I have only been back from Disney 2 weeks and I'm planning my next vacation.. I am going to be brave and take my ds10 (11 at vacation time). He is Autistic and will basically only eat chicken and hamburgers. If I call ahead of time to TS restaurants I want to go to is there any way they would be able to serve chicken strips or something if it's not on the menu?? Even most of the kids menus do not have chicken strips.

I am a picky eater myself and adore WDW chicken strips. I also teach fifth grade and have several Autistic students.

What TS restaurants are you looking at? Most of them do have a chicken strips meal for kids. All of the buffets have a kids section with them on it. I've been to most TS restaurants so I might be able to help you if I knew of specifics.

Off-hand, a few kid pleasers would be Sci-Fi Dine-In, 50s Prime Time Cafe, and Crystal Palace. However, these TS, like so many at WDW, could provide some sensory distractions for your child. Depending on where he is on the spectrum, this may or may not be a concern. Feel free to PM me or post here and I can see what other ideas may pop into my head.

We are taking our nieces in 3 weeks and they are very picky eaters for dinner, breakfasts are easy because who doesnt love bacon and pancakes?? For our dinners I had to choose places that had chicken strips, pizza, mac and cheese and spaghetti on the menu. It was pretty easy because almost all the kids menus have 2 of those items on it.

Hi... my ds is 11 and we were there in July--- aspergers and sensory so eats only chicken tenders---and about 11 other foods--- not a single thing dinner like (pizza, macaroni, hot dogs, burgers, ect ect)... I did have a list of the resturants that served chicken tenders--- I will look for it--- it isn;t on this computer but I may have it somewhere else.

But you are right that not all the resturants have tedners--- in Epcot, only 2 in world showcase and the electric umbrella. 1900 park faire dinner does not.

MK: Only crystal palace in MK does.

I was able to order adult size portions of the tenders at the TS resturants that had them--- like Kona and WCC- with no problem. Very accomodating.

Also, if you have not done so, there is a special needs board that may have some other suggestions--- besides the food things, I carried a small package of ear plugs for loud attractions like Mickey's Philamagic? and firework shows...

Also, for a timeout we used the back of the Kodak area (attached to Tony's) on main street near the entrance/train station at MK. It is cool, quiet, have old steamboat willie type films playing... a great place to regroup from all the stimulation for anyone lol

What else?? I literally went through every menu of every resturant to make my list....

BUT I took only my ds and not my teenager or dh and had the BEST vacation ever!!!

Biergarten in WS is a favorite. I hate to miss that one. I also hate to pay the money for him when I know it will not be worth it. I think he would probably eat the weiner schnitzel though since it's fried. He does like stuff that has bbq sauce on it as well. I thought I'd looked over most of the menus and didn't see much on there about chicken strips. I will have to look again. If anything we might have to try something new. I just dont want to have to eat counter service every meal! Loud noises doesn't really bother him unless it's someone screaming. He actually loves fireworks. I think he would like Primetime and Whispering Canyon. I know the way he drinks and likes ketchup on everything they'll have fun with him there!

I do want to take him to Chef Mickey's just for the experience. If anything he loves bacon and cereal lol.

I thought 1900 PF has chicken fingers...it is listed on the menu.

Beirgarten had chicken fingers when we went in April.

Chicken fingers are listed on the menu of 1900 park faire but they didn't have them. And I didn't realize until we were already seated that this was the case...
so just double check?
