Ok im sure this has happend in the past but has anyone's child ad a potty accident during the night and if so did mousekeeping come give you fresh sheets or did you wait untill morning and just " sleep together"?. Just wondering as my tike when so tired sleeps so hard.

Not sure how old your child is but if this is of a concern why not have your child wear a pull-up at night. I don't know how quickly mousekeeping will replace sheets. Maybe someone else has experience with this.

My DD is just at the stage where she is moving from pull-ups at night to undies. Personally, I would not expect Housekeeping to change your sheets in the middle of the night when your child wet the bed. I think the best thing you can do is:

(1) Put your child in pull-ups or rubber undies if you think s/he will wet ...

and/or

(2) Arrange for a rubber sheet on the bed.

I expect the resorts have a skeleton Housekeeping staff on hand for emergencies, but I'm not sure that wetting the bed is really one of those for you or not. It's not for us (we'd take our DD into our bed, no matter how squished it was), but you may be willing to make the call and wait for the bed change.

Good luck! I find my DD does better on the potty training on vacation.

How about asking Mousekeeping for some extra sheets once you get to the room?
This would mean you could change the bed yourself in the night if an accident happened - just an idea.

We're taking my DN-4 on our next trip. He is still pretty "accident" prone at night. I've asked my brother to put him in a "pull-up" during our trip at night--as DVC members we can't just have housekeeping come without being charged. My S-I-L found them with mickey Mouse on them, and he's actually excited to be able to wear them :)

One thing that helps my sister's kids keep from having accidents is waking them up an hour or two after they go to bed (right before my sister goes to bed), and walking them to the bathroom. They usually go, and then go right back to sleep. They don't even remember it happening in the morning.

While at the POR I took precautions for ds (4yrs at the time) he didn't have any accidents. Dd (7 yrs) however, who NEVER has accidents did! I called mousekeeping in the morning, and the staff was very nice. She hadn't woken up, but it did cross my mind 'what if' I found with the extra blanket an extra set of sheets.

I would pack one of those flannel rubberized pads that you put in cribs. And maybe a sheet of my own, just in case. It's funny, but my dd also did better with her potty training when we went on vacation too. Wonder why.

Aahhh, potty "learning", so much fun, isn't it?!?!

I'd just ask HK for an extra set of sheets & blanket. You could just leave them in the closet. Then, if she has an accident, just change it yourself.

If you've got her in undies at night & she's doing well, I wouldn't go back to pull-ups for your vacation. It might set you back or confuse her.

JMHO.....

I put my DD in a pull up at night, since when she's in a strange place, she's more apt to have an accident at night. Also, if you're not going to do that, I'd ask for extra sheets, etc BEFORE going to sleep. They do keep a skeleton housekeeping staff on after 9PM or so, so if there is an accident at night, expect to wait a LONG TIME for those sheets to make it up to your room. Also, there isn't any staff on hand to re-make beds at that hour, just runners, so you'd be expected to re-make the bed yourself.

Last October, I stayed at Port Orleans FQ with my sister and niece. My niece is still an occasional bed wetter but too old for the pull ups. We took an inflatable mattress for her and mousekeeping gave us clean bedding for it every day. When we weren't using the mattress for sleeping, it stayed out of the way under the beds.

One trip when Dixie Landings was still called that, my family of 5 spent 10 days there. My (then) 4 year old son and (then) 6 year old daughter shared a bed, my husband and I shared a bed and the 8 month old slept in a portacrib.
My 4 year old had a lower intestinal "virus" in the night and although he was in pull ups at the time, the pull ups didnt quite cut it, if you catch my drift....If it had happened at my home, quite frankly, I would have thrown the sheets out- thats how bad it was. Worse, he didnt wake up, nor did his sister, but the odor woke my husband and myself up. We got him up and in the shower, I transferred my daughter to my bed and we got the sheets off- I stuck them in the plastic bag they give you for dry cleaning and threw everyone over the age of 8 months in the remaining bed for the remainder of the night. Note that the mattress was also soiled pretty heavily even tho we tried to clean it up. We left $100 for mousekeeping when we went to the parks the next day with a note of apology for the accident and suggesting they just throw out the "laundry bag". When we got back to the room, there was a brand new mattress on the bed (with clean sheets) and the "tip" money was left with a note saying thank you but that they'd seen worse. It was an awful night but heck- those mousekeepers really had the spirit of disney going on. Needless to say, on our last day of vacation, we put the $100 back into the tip envelope. We verified with someone- I think it was the front desk- that our mousekeeper was the same as the night we had our trouble. It never crossed our minds to wake someone in housekeeping up just to clean a soiled bed-
So the point was?????

I can't beat Nancy's story (thank goodness). A few years ago it was just me and my DD at POR. I kept her out way too late on our last night and she fell into an exhausted sleep. I could hear her wet the bed, but I couldn't wake her up to get her to the bathroom. I got her cleaned up, stripped the sheets and put them in the tub, poured baby powder on the mattress to absorb whatever it could, and we slept in my bed.

I called Housekeeping in the morning and explained what happend. Since we were checking out that day, I didn't want to just leave a note and have them be unprepared. They deal with this all the time and they're very nice about it. It would never occur to me, however, to call for fresh sheets in the middle of the night. Even at home I would just move my DD to another bed.

Pampers has some great Mickey/Minnie pull ups that you could take with you for your little one to wear at night. With Mickey or Minnie special bedtime pants - well, you will avert disaster without hurting anyone's feelings about being back in "baby pants" as I know what a big deal it is to wear big boy or girl pants. The ones you don't use can be donated when you get back to a family in need.

we were at WL and were so excited that my DS-6 had ate so much at the HoopDeeDo. Well our excitment lasted until about midnight when everthing he had had for dinner and ice cream from Epcot decided to re-appear. Poor thing didn't even wake-up. I called the front desk immediately and explained the situation. She said "Oh, protein spill". I think mousekeeping was at our door with new sheets and blankets within 10-15 minutes. They were definitely prepared...he had rubber gloves on! :p

I would also take something rubberized to put between the child and the mattress-a rubber sheet, waterproof crib pad, etc.

You could ask for extra sheets upon arrival. I'm sure they would love to give you extra sheets.

We did this for our 4 yr old DD when we weren't sure if she would make it through the night without going to the bathroom. She never used pull ups so I can't comment on that. We did get both of our kids up about 2 hrs after they went to sleep to go potty and this seemed to work well.

I didn't want her to damage the mattress. I was worried more about that than about sheets. Sometimes the part of the mattress that was wet on will look dry but I hate to think about the inside that is still moist in that Florida humidity.

I have an older child that suffers from Nocturnal Enuresis (bedwetting) and I just purchase a shower curtain from the dollar store and place it between the mattress and the sheets so if there is a problem I'm only changing sheets...and I throw it away when we head home..

Depends makes these large "bed pads" that you can slip between the sheet and mattress , underneath where your child will sleep. It's a lot easier to just throw it out than to deal with a rubber sheet. They use these in the hospital (remember postpartum?)

Hmmm...You asked for it...MHO!

If it were *my* DD I'd take our cloth training pants with us (and I might now since you brought this up-I hadden't even thought of it!). There is no way I'd let her go back to pull-ups! She is smart enough to know that she can go in them and not have to take time out of her valuable play time to use the potty, but is potty trained. Hmmm I think perhaps she got the *lazy* gene? I probably will request another set of sheets from HK.

Heather

I thank you all for the suggestions, but i am more worried about the mattress. And if it got wet not drying out before the maid came in. If she has a accident I would strip the bed down myself I was wondering if the hoterl use's any kind of mattress protection cover's My dd is fully trained but like any kid when she super tired she sleeps very soundly and sometimes does't make it tp the Bathroom.
