Sorry to hijack the conversation. But my husband and I 99.9% have decided to purchase 100 points direct from Disney. $167/point and we get 100 from 2018, 100 from 2019 at closing and then 100 in 2020. Use year has to be before June.
The guide intrigued us with the last minute vacations you can get at 45 days out that don’t require points but just $295. Has anyone done one of these?
We visit Disney every year sometimes twice. We do a couples only trip most of the time but our children and grandchildren came in is in December. We rented points the. For a 2br and studio. We have rented many times in the past.
We will try to find a resale purchase In the same resort and use year of at least 150 points so that we can still vacation the same. But that will probably be next year since
We feel that cash is the way to go and we don’t want to get into our savings more than 10%. We normally only budget 5% for vacations per year if it is just us going then less - last year with 13 people it was closer to 7%.
Anyway, more questions ... how can we add our four children to the contract? The guide said they will fed ex the papers since we are back home. We are not interested in exchanging points for cruises since I have read that is a poor use of the contract. We are already annual passholders and we have the tables in wonderland. I told the guide that we only wanted a small contract to be one of the “cool kids” and we would most likely buy more via the resale market. Because he said that we needed x points when we took the family. I plan on booking AP discounted room for DH and I and using points for bigger trips or vice versa after I run the numbers for each trip. I can vacation anytime but for grandchildren then they have to be on a break from school.
Thanks for your help
