My husband and I are planning on purchasing our tickets from The Disney Store but I am confused are you saving money by purchasing them there or is it the same as at the gate? I ask because we have to drive 1 hour to get to the closest Disney store and I just want to find out if it is in our best interest. With the cost of gas an all that.

I'm not sure there's any financial advantage to purchasing them at the Store, but unless you are someone who just doesn't shop on-line, you'll get a far better deal getting them from Ticketmania.com or MapleLeaf Tickets (not certain of their web site; you could Google it). I got ours from TicketMania and saved considerably over what it would have cost me on the WDW web site! :thumbsup2

When you buy it at the DS as opposed to at WDW, you save money on an additional luxury tax that is charged. The DS only charges Fl state tax and that it, rather than FL state tax plus the luxury tax. Don't know if you would save $ if you bought it online as compared to TDS.

We compared the prices with the info given from cro and the info given from the Disney Store, and the prices were either identical or very similar. I'm not sure about other ticket venues prices (such as maple leaf or ticketmania). Another issue for us was in regards to transfer ability. If tickets are purchased at the Disney Store, they cannot be transferred onto your keys to the kingdom card, but if they are bought through Disney, they are. That is what we were told by a cm at the disney store and by a cro rep.
We like having everything stored on one card, less stuff to possibly lose :)

I do believe the savings is $2 each tkt. You can get the same price from disney if you order in advance. We have a room only reservation through CRO and only my sister needs tkt. So paid for tkt now and it will be added to her room key upon checkin and still saving the big $2. You can get better prices from other reliable sources if you have time to wait for shipping or you want to pick up in orlando.

We purchased our tickets at the Disney Store and were able to transfer them to our room card. Procedures may have changed since July 05 but I suspect you were misinformed.

You can also buy your tickets at the Earsport store in the airport. That is what we plan to do since we are not staying on site and we hope to avoid having to buy tickets at the gate when we arrive. I don't know how the prices compare. We only need a one day ticket for the Magic Kingdom--not much of a discount around for those.

My experience with the Disney Store is a not-so-pleasant one. I did my research so I knew that buying a 7 day hopper would be cheaper at the Disney store than what we could get at the gate. The only thing is that we wanted the no expiration added. They couldn't add it at the store, but told us that we could at the gate. Great! is what we thought. We got to the Disney Info center in Ocala to add the no expiration option. They told us that we had gotten a great deal on the tickets, but we had to pay the difference between the ticket price and the gate price before we could add the no expiration. We were furious :furious: b/c that was not what we had been told. It cost us an additional $75+ in addition to the no expiration.

I guess the moral of my story is this: know exactly what kind of ticket you want and if they do not have it, go somewhere that does b/c you will probably come out spending the same as gate price.

We purchase through tickemania. I saved around $200 on our tickets with the mousesavers discount and I can have them put on our room keys at the resort. You usually can't beat their price.

The prices at the Disney Store are a little cheaper than the gate on some WDW passes. Meanwhile, ticket brokers also have small discounts on some tickets - but the difference between advance/gate/broker prices varies depending on the ticket.

Here is a chart with all of the advance, gate, and broker prices from Maple Leaf for all of the possible MYW options:

This was about three weeks ago when I asked cro about transferring Disney Store tickets to our room key--if policy has changed since you were there--it may have something to do with the Disney Store not being owned by Disney anymore. I'm going to call again before I make a ticket purcahse. :)
