We just bought our first contract....50 points direct at VGF. My question is, we would like to buy at least one more, maybe 2 contracts resale. Do those points all get combined but you have the 11 month window at the 2 different resorts? If I buy a 200 contract at AKL will I have 250 points to use?? Sorry I am soooo new at this......:goodvibes

You use your 50 VGF to book VGF at 11 months and your 200 AKV to book AKV at 11 months.

At 7 months you can combine them to book at any DVC resort.

You can only use the points you have available at that specific resort when booking at the 11 month window.

Example, you have two VGF contracts totaling 100 points and one BLT contract for 50 points. You can book at VGF using the two contracts totaling 100 points 11 months out at VGF, but cannot use the 50 points from BLT for VGF until 7 months out.

we will also want to make sure the uy match as well, is that correct?? Gosh I feel like I didn't do enough homework and I felt like I was a Disney veteran. hahaha

If your current UY is working for you then yes, title the deed the same and buy the same UY. That will allow you to see and use all of your contracts with 1 login on the member website.

Plus it makes it easier to combine points for a seven month reservation.

If you end up with different UYs you can still see your contracts with 1 login on the member website as long as you are listed on the deed the same way for all your contracts.

We used TSS and they sent us a short form to fill out noting our other contracts and we have one login.

We don't combine points. We alternate resorts and so we have no problems with different UY.

For others reading it's generally better, easier and cheaper to buy the resale first in this situation.

Tell me more about this single login. When you go to make a reservation, do you have to select which "membership" (UY) to use before you search for availability or is it the same as having a single UY where you simply choose which contract(s) to use (and in your case have choice of multiple contacts from multiple use years)? If the latter, seems that would solve the multiple-UY problem since you aren't transferring points, you are just selecting multiple contracts at time of reservation. Just curious how multiple UYs actually works in the member site with one login, since despite this being a pretty common scenario no one has posted how this works online :confused3, and all the historical threads, FAQs, and stickies all are antiquated (pre-date the current member services website with single Disney Account).

You select the UY first.

It says "Which Member Number Would You Like To Use?" There is a drop down which has each member ID number listed. You click on the member ID number you want to use.
It is very user friendly. If you click on the wrong one, and you are more than 7 months out, the system tells you that you can't book yet.

Ah, that explains it -- so you select member ID before starting the booking process that us single-UY folks see. I was thinking it would show up like it does for single-UY members, where you select the contracts to use. Strange they don't piggy back on that functionality and let you select multiple contracts from multiple memberships, but I'm guessing there is some logic deep down in their system that would not like this :) They could still do it virtually (e.g. have the system automatically transfer points from one contract to another), but since they don't even have the ability to modify reservations online, I don't think that is high on their priority list -- better left in the capable hands of MS. Thanks! :thumbsup2

Disney doesn't want you to have different UY's, Guides don't offer it and they need to get permission to sell you a different UY so they won't support it very well online.

You are only allowed one transfer per year, in or out. MS has trouble with transfers and my guess is that not many owners have multiple UY's.

Makes sense for direct purchases where there is no difference in price, and plenty of inventory. Good point -- there seems to be a glitch/bug/error any time you veer from the happy path in Disney systems, so best to avoid in the first place. I'll spend more money to get the same UY and avoid the hassle.
