We're flying with the kiddos for the first time in about 6 weeks. We're flying SW. Do they have a changing station on the plane? I can't control when my 1 year old makes a dirty diaper, so even if I changed her before we get on the plane (which I definitely will)... if she decides to dirty her diaper, it will need to be changed. I tried looking on Southwest's website, but couldn't find the information I'm looking for. I would assume that they do, but I want to make sure.

Thanks!

There have been diaper changing stations in toilets in the Southwest planes I've flown on.

Yes, but the lav is pretty small so you may want to make a little plane kit with just the essentials to take in to the lav.

Other items of note: The tray table is not changing table. A vacant seat is not a changing table. Do not hand a dirty diaper to flight attendant for disposal. A seat back pocket is not an acceptable place to put a dirty diaper

Since your little one is a girl might I suggest putting her in a sun dress that will make the change quick and easy so you aren't dealing with snaps, clasps, etc.

The bathroom is bery tight, so just bring the essentials not the entire diaper bag. Also bring a bag to put the stinky diaper in so it doesn't stink up the bathroom when you put it in the trash.

We did once have a major blow out and the flight attendant (SW) laid down a blanket on the floor by the bathrooms and we changed the diaper there. She has a seal the whole mess is a trash bag. I was very greatful not to have to battle that mess in the tight confines of an airplane lavoratory.

:lmao: Why would someone think that's ok in the first place?

Although I just flew SW last month, I didn't pay attention to changing tables in the lav. (Fortunately, my 6 month old didn't need a diaper change in-flight.)

But, the best tip I've gotten regarding diaper changes in-flight is to learn how to change your baby's diaper while they're standing up. (You can practice at home, if you're not used to it.) When the lavs do have changing tables, I've found that they are small and hard to use in the small space. It's easier often to just stand them up on the lid of the toilet (as long as your child can stand unassisted).

Those would be the same people who think that the floor of the lobby in the Poly--just across the railing from tables at Kona Cafe--or the stroller parking area by POTC in the MK are OK places to change a diaper. I guess the 50 foot walk to a bathroom equipped with a changing table is too much.

Well they change them on resturant / counter service tables, so why not on a tray table on an airplane?

That's disgusting. And not only that, but I would never expose my child in public.

Good places:

1. On the closed toilet lid with your own body partly out the open lav door.

2. On the floor in front of a plane door.

No thank you. I wouldn't expose my child infront of others.

I think I will practice changing her diaper while she's standing up. I have just over 5 weeks to get the hang of it LOL

:rotfl:

I have to laugh at this because it's common sense, yet there are people that do it anyway.

If the plane had a changing table I would just change them with the door open leaving my big old butt hanging out. If there wasn't one, I just changed them standing up. I was lucky never to have to deal with a dirty diaper on an airplane. For some reason they always saved those for when we were landing and couldn't get up to change them (little stinkers...literally!):rotfl:.

You mean, likely, at someone's feet??

You seriously think that that is a *good* idea?

No not at someone's feet!! By the area in the front or back where the flight attendants sit - there is a wall the separates that area from the rest of the cabin.

It comes in very handy for very big messes to be able to lay the child on the floor (with something under them).

No way would I change an explosion in the lav or standing up - too much feces.

The post to which I was responding (and that I quoted) referred to places in front of airplane doors. On most planes, many of these places are directly in front of someone's seat.

Because as a flight attendant we love to have someone change a diaper at our feet especially when we are eating!

Wait a minute. There is too much feces to change the diaper in the washroom, but it is fine to change it in the flight attendant's rest area??
