Can both my kids take a carry-on bag on the airplane ? My daughter is planning on taking her school backpack with markers, crayons, paper and her Polly Pockets. Also a zip-loc bag of snacks. My son will also take his backpack filled with all the same stuff as my daughter minus the polly pockets...LOL He'll also be taking his Game-Boy with several games. My DH just informed me that both won't be able to take a backpack. I told him I'd prove him wrong...LOL Also, do carry-on bags have a weight limit ?

TIA !!

Tell him he is wrong. Carry on baggage is per person not per family. :)

I'm not sure about the weight limit of carry-ons, but I know that each ticketed passenger is allowed one carry bag.
Maybe their website would give more info as to the weight limit and the sizes.baggage info: carry-on

Following Transportation Security Administration guidelines, here are the new limits on carry-on items.

Guests are only allowed one bag to carry on and one smaller, personal item.
Personal items include things like purses, briefcases, cameras, food containers, or laptops (including the case).
Guests with disabilities are able to bring assistive devices on the flight along with their carry-on bags.
Song limits carry-on bags to 22x14x9 inches and smaller and must weigh less than 40 lbs.
Upon request, all guests and employees and their items may be thoroughly searched.
A car seat or other restraint for a ticketed child with a reserved seat is not counted as a carry-on or personal item, and can be carried onboard.

Federal law prohibits the following hazardous materials from being included in your carry-on bag: compressed gases, corrosives, explosives, fireworks, flammable liquids/solids, lighter fluid, loaded firearms, mace/tear gas, oxidizers, oxygen bottles, paints, poisons, and radioactive materials.

Weight limit is 40lbs. for carry on baggage.

I have never ever had anyone weigh a carry on, as a matter of fact there really isn't anyplace to do it. It's the size issue you have to worry about

They won't weigh your carry on unless you come stumbling thru the airport like it weighs a ton but there is still a limit. If it is heavier than 40lbs. I doubt you would be able to carry it thru-out the airport anyway without breaking your back. I work for an airline. :)
