Has anyone done ABD followed by DCL? I just booked ABD Germany next summer for me and my daughter (11) and son (7), and then we are planning to fly to Barcelona where we'll meet my husband for a 7-day Mediterranean cruise.

Has anyone ever done anything like this before? Are we totally insane? The ABD trip ends on the same day the cruise begins, but the flight from Munich to Barcelona is only 2 hours.

Yes. In 2007 we took our first ABD tour (Viva Italy)--had a great time, then flew to Barcelona and had two days before the cruise. Great city to explore--using the hop on hop off bus was great. We made sure we stayed at a hotel Disney CL used to get picked up and taken to the ship. I don't think you'll have a problem getting to the ship the same day you fly from Germany so long as the weather holds up etc. You may want to book your flight from Germany to Barcelona through DCL (if they will let you)--and then get picked up at the airport for transit to the ship (guess your husband could meet you at the airport and you all go together?) The one down side to all of this: it is a long trip for the kids. But--good to have the land tour first then the cruise as they can unwind a bit on the ship!

Sorry to be so late to say thanks, but---thanks!

My kids are really good travelers, so I think we'll be okay, especially since, as you said, we're doing the cruise second. We've never done an escorted land tour before, and one of the reasons I chose ABD was because I thought it would take away that extra level of stress that can make travel so tiring.

That is totally one of the best parts of taking an ABD (and there are tons of best parts! :thumbsup2) They really do take care of so much for you, and allow you to really enjoy the trip without worrying about the details and logistics. I'm going to have a hard time ever traveling the "old way" again.

I think your trip sounds *FABULOUS*! Fortunately, the Med cruise leaves pretty late from Barcelona, so you should be OK. But don't assume that because both pieces are Disney, that they're aware of what you are doing. Even when I was taking the ABD add-on *ON* the Med cruise, the communication between ABD & DCL was a bit dicey. Make sure ABD & the Adventure Guides know that you are heading to the cruise afterwards, and they will really work with you to make sure the transition goes smoothly.

I think you're going to really enjoy yourselves!

That is an awesome idea, you've already flown to Europe so you might as well enjoy it there. No jet lag for you on the cruise!
