ABD Backstage Magic Trip April 13th - I'm SO There!

Who's going with us?

Not sure yet, I would love too, but I've already booked the podcast cruise and a trans-atlantic next year. Although that covers fall and winter, I think I need something to do in the spring.

Come on twist my arm.

Need to see how much $$$$ it is. Waiting for more details.

I'm in. I've been thinking of doing this one for a while, now I have a good reason to go.

I would LOVE to go, but it might be out of my price range... I'll have to wait and hear more details.

I have never been to Disneyland, and my plans for going this summer fell through, so I am very anxious to go. This would be perfect!! Hopefully, this is something in my price range and at a good time. I will be working on a Master's degree then, so hopefully its during a break.

How do we go about signing up? This trip sounds like a dream come true......

I've read a couple trip reports of this tour and it does sound incredible....
BUT...most of the days start with this sentence....

"We met for breakfast at 7am."

Just wondering if Kevin, John and Pete know this?! :lmao:
(Walter sounds like the up and early type)

I made the Muddy Buddy.....arose at 6am

I made the 10:45 meeting with DCL at Port Canaveral on departure day....arose at 6am

I made the Mark's Disney History Seminar (both actually) which required a tech rehearsal at 7am to make sure lights , video and microphones were working....arose at 6am.

I made the podcast recording which required a tech rehearsal at 7am to make sure lights , video and microphones were working....arose at 6am.

I made it off the ship by 7:45 - 8:00am Thursday morning....arose at 6am.

I slept until 8:30 on Tuesday.

It can be done when neccessary.

I'm not crazy about it....but it can be done.

Please believe me, I meant no disrespect. :flower3: I've never made a rope drop in my whole Disney life and everybody knows blood must be involved if they are thinking of calling me before 10am.

I went on this trip last December and loved the whole experience. It was the best trip I have ever been on. So many things you would never see on your own and so many surprises.

And you do bond with your fellow travelers even though you do not think you will. I think it is the common love of everything Disney that draws everyone together. Pluse the tour guides are awesome......

Well, if it weren't for you, I wouldn't have found the Fantasmic viewing area. And I did not break the train. :rolleyes1

That trip made me want to do another ABD trip, but I haven't figured out when or where, yet!

Again we can't go. Easter break is the week before 4/13 and DS will be a senior. When he goes away to college I will so be there for all of these trips.

We're working out a few last minute details on the ABD trip before we start accepting reservations. I will tell you the initial pricing we've been quoted is $2219 per person (double occupancy), $1959 per child and $3107 for a single. I've been told this is tentative pricing and might even go lower (it's already a few hundred dollars less than the same tour this past April).

Included in that will be 1 night at Hollywood Renaissance Hotel and 4 nights at the Grand Californian at Disneyland. We'll be getting special access at Disney Imagineering, a VIP Tour of the Jim Henson Company Studios, 2 days of behind the scenes tours at Disneyland (and multiple fast passes to get on attractions!!), we'll go backstage at Jimmy Kimmel Live and also tour the El Capitan theater in Hollywood.

We're also going to arrange to do another 'live to tape' show while we are out there for everyone who wants to attend (not just those on the ABD trip) and I'm working on something VERY special for Walter's 50th birthday.

It's going to be a lot of fun!!

Pete

I didnt take this as disrespectful at all....

I was so proud of getting up that early, that I had to share it....and brag a little bit.

It probably wont happen again until this ABD trip.:lmao:

I am NOT a morning person.

$3,100 for a single.....I sure hope I can talk my sister into going with me. I was originally thinking about my mom, but I really don't think she would be able to handle all the walking.

It sounds like a great 5 days - but $2219/pp for a 5-day trip is out of my budget.

**OK - going to the ABD board to read more about this!

Pete - this trip sounds amazing. Unfortunately I don't think it's in the budget to do both and I really want to take DH and DD on a cruise. Already submitted the cruise quote. Thank you for considering a live podcast - that's something I'd definitely hop on a quick flight down from Nor. Cal for.

I can't do the date of the December cruise so thankfully I don't have to decide. I was really disappointed at first, but the ABD trip makes me feel a whole lot better. I just love, love, love the behind the scenes stuff and have been dying to get to DL.

I can understand that. Personally, I am choosing the cruise because 1) I can't bring the baby, 2) its cheaper, 3) I have longer to pay for it, and 4) I've never been on a cruise and really is more what I want to do at this point... plus will book some park time either pre or post cruise...

Honestly though the ABD does sound really cool... The imagineering and VIP Henson tour REALLY make me want to go. The little one not being able to go though helps make a tough decision easier.

Have fun on the trip... we can both be partially jealous of the other ;-)

Are the park tickets included in the trip price for the 2 days of behind the scenes tours at Disneyland?

I am NOT a morning person.

I'm not a morning person either and I got up to see the Muddy Buddies - so anything is possible. (My parents were quite shocked that I could actually be dressed and out of the hotel room by 6:45. :confused3 It sort of shocked me too!!)

If I get to go on the trip, I figure if I sort of stay on East Coast time during the trip it may just work for me since 7 a.m. would only be 10 a.m. according to my body - right????? :rolleyes1

Park tickets are included, the only things not included are: airfare, a couple of meals and tipping the guides. Oh yeah, can't forget about all the extra dough you'll need for the exclusive merchandise at Mickey's of Glendale.
