ABD Backstage Magic 7/31 - 8/5/11

Hi Everyone. I feel like such a newbie going to DL. I've been to WDW.. well I've lost count how many times... But inquiring minds need to know.

Is the coffee as crappy in Disneyland as it is in Disneyworld?

Do they only serve Coke products?

Do they have the refillable mugs at the Grand Californian?

Don't feel badly, Sara! I've only had one DL trip and that was last summer. You will fall in love! It's an amazing place with all of the history and differences between it and WDW. I actually find myself liking it just a bit more! ;)

I believe they do only serve Coke products, but do think I've seen other types of coffees in a few different eateries. I could be wrong on this though. I can't drink coffee anymore as it makes me sick so I wasn't looking for it.

I have never seen refillable mugs at any of the hotels. I stayed in Paradise Pier last summer, but spent a lot of time at the Grand because a good friend of mine was staying there. I don't think there's any type of location to fill them up at. In fact, I don't remember seeing a CS at either hotels.

Hi everyone!
Scott said I needed to post once before we left.
So here it is. I'm Pam, Scott's wife. I like Disney and dogs!:yay:

:yay::yay: Hi to all of the new posters! Are you as excited as I am for our adventure? :cool1:

Hey all.

You can get great coffee at Compass Books, right across from ESPN, at Ralph Brennans Express (they have chicory coffee), at La Brea Bakery, at the Hearthstone Lounge in the GCH - they have an actual espresso machine, and pretty decent lattes at the Blue Ribbon Bakery on Main Street (I only get the lattes).

No refillable mugs, but you can get free refills on sodas at Tangaroa Terrace, when dining there.

So excited that I get to see Kelsie!

Who else is staying over the weekend after? My family will be checking into the GCV on Friday morning!

Would anyone like to do the WoC picnic meal with us on Friday or Saturday?

What night?

Fyi, I had lox and bagel this morning for breakfast. Awesome!

Ew! lol

It looks like the only night during the adventure we don't have a dinner planned is Day 4, August 3rd. We're free after we tour Walt's apartment that afternoon. Fantasmic is at 9 and 10:30 and Magical is at 9:30. We have lunch at Cafe Orleans that afternoon before the apartment tour. Thoughts?

Anybody know when lunch with Marty is scheduled? Is it Day 5?

I wondered about this too - but this IS California and as I remember from living there for 4 years (NorCal not SoCal - but I don't think they'd be different on this) - those folks take their coffee VERY seriously! They would push Disney for better java - I hope!:worship:

Too bad - the mugs make great souvenirs.

SaraMc and I are staying over Friday night at GCH - flights home to Canada Saturday so we'll be leaving late morning/early afternoon - sadly
Will have to discuss :thumbsup2
Oh wait - SaraMc leaves way later than me. That's what I get for getting my flight on points!

I'm all for doing things that are uniquely DL. But fried green tomato sandwich...ugh.

Anyone interested in going to Ralph Brennen's one night?

Count me in for everything :rotfl2:

White Water Snacks at GCH is QS and a great spot for a quick meal or snack. I really like their breakfast burrito without the meat - very tasty and filling. I'm not sure about the other hotels at DL though.

I'm sorry it took me so long to post! My Daughter *Sarah 16* and I are getting so excited! Disneyland is definitely our favorite park and we are really looking forward to this 'Adventure' with you all! :)

Welcome to you both!

We are leaving on the Friday night - probably will be getting a late afternoon shuttle. We lose a day traveling home crossing the date line so the Friday night flight gets us back to NZ on Sunday morning - this messes with my mind. :lmao:

You probably are talking about the fried green tomato sandwich. I am SO trying that myself!!! Can't wait!

I've been really excited hearing about all the new menu options at DL - sure beats vegetarian burgers for every meal!

17 sleeps until I leave!

No no. It looks pretty yummy. I'd even eat salmon if you ate one of those. ( let's be clear here, cooked not "smoked" salmon )

After hearing the latest DL podcast. I need to see that new bar in the Disneyland hotel.

I told everybody lox wasn't cooked!!! They're messing with my head! :sad2:

You and me both! I also looked at the Renaissance's bar menu last night. ;) I am so very excited as they serve Cupcake wines!!! I've been wanting to try them for the longest time! Heh. If anyone needs me Sunday night, check the bar.

Oh wow! That'd totally throw me for a loop too.
