ABD Backstage Magic 7/31 - 8/5/11

My 4-yr old niece has a lamp shaped like a lamb, if that helps. Though, I'm fairly certain she's never tried to eat it.

Hi Ally! It is actually explained on the First Giving page for the lox challenge. This all started a little over a year ago. I was in chat one night when Kevin mentioned lox, something I wasn't familiar with. The chatters explained that it was smoked salmon commonly eaten on a bagel. My reply? "Why on Earth would someone eat a fishy bagel?!" The teasing and on-going joke came from there.

Lox isn't a term we use here, but smoked salmon is very popular - sushi rolls are available in every mall foodcourt and smoked salmon ones are the most popular along with teriyaki chicken - I just get the vege ones as I'm vegetarian.

Which brings me to my next point... Nikki, I've been vegetarian for nearly 15 years and while the thought of eating an animal personally makes me feel queasy, smoked salmon is the one of the few things I miss.

I have no problems with people consuming dead animals around me though so you can be sure that I'll be cheering you on :rotfl2:

Umm....

I forgot an n.

You mistook a lamp for a lamb.

:lmao:

Lamp is such an illuminating dish - full of bright flavors....

It is a shade on the chewy side for my tastes, though....

My friends, the comedians. ;) :rotfl2::rotfl2: I guess that was a pretty bad typo, eh? Dare I say it? Was it...tag worthy?

Ya know, I have no idea. lol I am a very picky eater and always have been. I don't like fruit...at all. I won't eat things like rabbit, lamp, veal, etc. so something like this is huge. I'm actually surprised I enjoy places like Boma, Jiko, Chefs de France, and so on. You'd think I'd be in trouble there!

How about Muktuk?

Wow, Sara. Already? I have my suitcase out (only because it's a new one). I bought a new Vera Bradley bag and travel organizer, too. I don't have anything planned for packing yet, but am thinking about things. Right now, I'm trying to figure out the shoe situation. I'm not a sneaker person and would rather wear flip flops. I know that this might not be a good idea because of all the walking we'll be doing. What's everyone else planning on wearing?

It's my understanding that you must wear closed toe shoes when visiting backstage areas and some of the areas in Imagineering.

I'm not suggesting that anyone needs steel toed work boots....but I believe flip flops are not allowed.

Also...there is a good deal of walking. Comfortable shoes are really a must. If you are planning on buying new footwear for your Adventure, I'd suggest that you buy it soon and make sure that you "break in" whatever you plan on wearing.

I always have tuesday off, so im planning out my weeks worth of clothes that are no my normal work dress code. Seeing if I need to get anything else etc.
For me, shoes will be Croc maryjanes. comfy, not stylish but what I wear in the parks.
The weekends normally when Im not working are filled up with Mommy stuff etc so tuesdays I have some time to get ready.
So far, my contact lenses are in the bag.....

Really?? I guess I better check the ABD paperwork. I don't remember reading that, but could be wrong.

I've been debating on wearing my Crocs. I just haven't worn them in awhile and know that my feet sometimes hurt if I've taken a "Croc break."

I just spoke with ABD and whether you can find it in your paperwork or not..... closed toe shoes are highly recommended.

Depending on what is happening backstage and in Imagineering, anything less could be considered a safety hazard.

According to ABD, rubber soled athletic shoes are recommended.

Got it. Thanks for double-checking, Kevin. I read the packing list and it does say three different types of shoes including closed-toe. I believed you. It just didn't sink in from my reading it until you mentioned it. :)

Some of the Teva shoes have the support and comfort of the Crocs and have closed or semi-closed toes - I will probably alternate between those and a pair of comfy tennies most of the time, with one dressier pair of shoes for evenings.

:sad1: Oh no - I LIVE in my Croc sandals! I'm wearing them right now!

Hmmm - the shoe issue is gonna get tricky  Trip to the Croc store!

I've started to plan out my packing!

OMG you aren't packed? I packed a month ago! Do you want a copy of my packing list? :) Mind you, in the middle of winter, its not like I'm missing anything in the suitcase at the moment - I have little need for tshirts at the moment. :rotfl2:

I leave in (checks iPhone app counter)... 23 sleeps.

I'm also bringing my Croc Maryjanes which I got back on our last trip - I know what you mean, they are so light and comfortable! I may well buy another pair on this trip as they are tidy enough to wear to work.

Ok, so Ive planned out my clothes for the trip with a few extras. ( I sometimes spill...) and incase its really really hot. Trying to figure out if I should bring my bathing suit or not, it look pretty much go go go. Not sure how much time we will have at the pool.... \
Also there book had no mention of Walts Barn, does that mean we don't go there anymore?

I was wondering that too. Isn't it Griffith Park though? Not sure.

I still don't have any idea what clothing I am bringing. It is way too early for me to figure that out. I rather plan activities and pack the night before. ;)

Anyone interested in going to Ralph Brennen's one night?
