ABCs of Trip Reporting, Pt. 2-Life Can Be Crappy and Then You Move On (3/7)

Oh gosh! That picture speaks a thousand words. Reminds me of our trip in May of 09. We got caught in a similar deluge - what is it about Epcot? We were literally wading through ankle deep water!

We were also there in May of 09. But we were wading through ankle deep water in the Magic Kingdom. I've told my husband I want a do over trip considering I've only been to WDW twice now!!! Once when I was 15 with my grandparent's and then the trip in 09 with my parent's, my DH, DS and DD.

I have never been to Disney Land so I found all your detail pictures wonderful! Very cool pictures inside HM. I am glad the transfer thing worked so perfectly. I can relate to the "attraction, pee, attraction, pee" routine. I practice it rather frequently myself . :rotfl:

Hey Guys,

Just wanted to let you know, I"m going to do my very best to get replies up today at the very least. For the past few days I've been getting ready to go on our annual extended family camp- it's not as easy as hopping on a plane to go to the Poly. I'll be gone from Wednesday - Sunday, but will try to get an update done on Monday.

I'll be back in a bit, as I hope to spend the afternoon on here :)

No doubt. That's the sort of thing that gets you in OTHER people's TR's.

Nfity DLR photos L.

Love the spider web.

HEY GB! Yeah, I often end up in OTHER people's TRs, but sadly wouldn't even know it even more since I"m so little on. I know I'll be back in the fall, and until then, am trying to hold my head above water.

Weren't the photos neat? I got some really cool shots that most won't get to. INcluding the spider web. :)

Sooo glad to see and JJ back on the Dis !!!I leave in 20 days with the Family and then go again in October as an Escort to Special Needs Group , I refer to these as my FREE Trips !!!!!:yay:

It's SOOOO great to have them back! Rosie, I can't believe your trip is so close!! Seems like not so long ago that you put up your PTR.

The only thing I can think of is they didn't think we'd come. It has been a long, long time since I've seen this side of the family. I think it's been at least 20 years or so. So I have no clue. But I'll probably be back in Oregon next month for other reasons.

That would definitely be an explanation. Sad nonethesless.

I've been trying to get an invite into there for the last 7 years!!!!! :scared1: My guess is I will make it one day!! I have a friend who used to know someone with access but she doesn't know if they still do. I told her it's never to late to reconnect with old friends who have great connnections. :rotfl: Yeah she didn't go for it!! :confused3 But she did say if she finds anyone else who does she will get me an invite cuz she knows I wouldn't do anything to embarass the memeber. Or would I?

OH wow! How cool would that be??!! I hope that can happen for you someday! (pssst... let me know if it does...)

That is cool!! I will have to check that out in either Sept or October when we go back for Halloween. But yes there are normally about 100 people standing on that exact spot. But I have seen all the lines but was never able to put 2 and 2 together cuz I didn't get to see the whole picture until now.

I thought it was VERY very cool! And one of those tougher things to get see!

I know, I know!! They are pretty refreshing!!!

:goodvibes

Love NOS, so pretty and quaint. Do the New Orlean resorts at WDW have the same magical feel...anyone?

In my opinion, and I can only speak for POR, not as much. Not nearly as much of the wrought iron work, the cool store fronts, even the little things like fonts in windows, etc.. is just not there.

I also know what that tasty drink is but on the last trip I bought one in the evening and didn't enjoy it so much. I think it was just to cold out- much better as a cool treat during the heat.

I think for this particular drink you either like it, or don't. Especially the alcoholic version NOT found in Disneyland.

While researching for my last DL trip I read about club 33. I mentioned it to a friend who is Disney ambivalent and she was like "yeah, we went for lunch 15 years ago, it was nice". She had no idea how special it was and didn't even go check out the bathroom!! Apparently her husband's work had a corporate membership with guest benefits. I was rather jealous!

WHAT!? She didn't check out the bathroom- UNTHINKABLE! I can't imagine not even knowing about how cool this place is!

And for MyPalPluto and JJ, I can tell already you will be too much fun- I will be keeping my eye out for you two. Hope you have room for new friends!

(btw- quoting on my iPad takes me forever. When/if I get serious about this dising I thinking I'll have to get out the laptop.)

Yes, I love having a laptop for replying and such; I tried once with my son's iPad, and it was really hard!

She ABsoLUTELY looks like a million bucks!!

Since responding to this thread, laughing at the "title" but not knowing how it originated, I finally made the time (who cares if the dishes need done, the bathroom could use a once over and the rug has "gooblefeathers" {as my dear Mom calls crumbly crud that seemingly appears outta nowhere!} needs a TWICE over) to go back and read how this wonderful tale started ...

The love you have for the special women who helped shape your life and the precious time you all were able to share, shines off the "page". I don't have to tell you, as it is completely obvious you already know this, but you are so very blessed to have them and these memories to hold on to in the future when their laughter is just an echo in your heart.
Thanks Liesa--what a lovely way to start the day ... I can't wait to read more!! :coffee:

AWw, Jamie, thanks for all your kind words about my special mom and aunt. It was really a special trip that I hope to tell in full someday. UGH, if I just had more time to write more, and more quickly.

It's so interesting hearing about Disneyland. Everything looks very similar to Disney World, while still maintaining its own unique character. I'm glad the transferring wasn't a problem.

HI Kate!! I know it must seem like I"ve fallen off the face of the earth, but really I am still here, quietly reading as I can. I am back on Monday from our camping trip, and will hopefully get a post or two up then :)

Oh gosh! That picture speaks a thousand words. Reminds me of our trip in May of 09. We got caught in a similar deluge - what is it about Epcot? We were literally wading through ankle deep water!

Mine too! I love those guys! I'm so glad the transferring process was smooth. Sounds like you had a blast!

BTW, I just got caught up on Steppesister's Songs. I'm loving your latest posts! You're on a roll now - keep 'em comin!

I think EPCOT must have a vortex of its own climate. I know so many people who get stuck there in downpours. Good thing there is a lot to do indoors there!

The song is so catchy, and I always find myself singing along- often time maybe even too loudly. :rolleyes1

YEah, I've obviously transferred of my writing time from here to there. THat's where I'm inspired right now, so will keep those coming. But honestly, I DO want to finish this too, so will hopefully get something up by Monday PM.

Just checking in !!Been a BRUTAL 10 days !!! Tomorrow I at least get to sleep past 7 a.m and do not have to work till midnight !!:banana:I can't believe in 18 days we will be in Orlando !! 19 and at POP !!:banana:I am soooo not ready but come the 18th we will be on our way and I will do what has to be done !!

OH gosh, Rosie! 10 days? THat's a LOT! YEP, only 18 days... I'll bet you can hardly wait!

come on here!:worship:

WOW! I didn't know I had such eager readers :) You make my day!! But gosh darn; this camping thing is such a boatload of work- haha, I feel like I'm living in Crapistan again. Anyway, I'll be gone from tomorrow until Monday. Hopefully something can be ready by then :) For me the uploading of photos takes FOREVER, since my internet is about as quick as Congress is at passing financial reform.

I'd say it's about time now, Sandra!! Start your WDW kitty now, and in no time at all you'll be on your way! :cool1:

There was only one transfer that did not work ideally... but that comes a bit later. I know you're a detail photo kind of person, so those should have filled a tiny part of your "cool pictures" need.

Yeah, I think most women can relate to that "routine". :lmao:

I just got back and you're leaving?! Well, I guess I'll have time to catch up. :rotfl:

Boy, that was BAD timing, Mark! I know you had a great trip and even got to Barry and Sommer (sp?), and Kathy!! How cool is that?! :woohoo: Well, you didn't miss much around here. NOt a lot of banter, and probably only a couple posts. I did put up a few blog posts though, that you migh enjoy. :) THose have been rather therapeutic to write out.

Cuz there is more , these are just an example !! So I am MORE than ready for Disney!!!!!!!!!

Liesa- You are probably right about the Doombuggies. Our "ends" just took up more room. :rotfl2:

I'd say it's about time now, Sandra!! Start your WDW kitty now, and in no time at all you'll be on your way! :cool1:

If I ever get an invite to Club 33 I think you guys would be the 1st to know cuz you'd probably hear the screaming all the way up there!! I'd be sooooo excitied!! Then I'd have to find a way to get you there too so you could experience it also!! Now that would be a great DisMeet!!

I keep threatening my DH that I'm just going to leave him home with the kids and go back to WDW and I get this look.....:scared1: Love him but when he keeps saying we'll never be able to afford to go back I just give him a look and say ok whatever!! I know I will be back. Him and the kids are a different story. :rotfl: But I guess I could bring the baby with me in a few years considering he hasn't been so that's my excuse. James need a trip to WDW!!!

Sandra! Start hinting that you have a wonderful group of friends who would love to meet your club 33 friend!!! :lmao:

I was just going to post that it isn't any more expensive per day - in fact the tickets are less, i think at WDW than DLR - but then I remembered the plane tickets for you. For us, it's almost the same but you can drive. We will soon be in the Driving to DL club! :yay::yay::yay::yay::yay:

I have to confess I'm not familiar with NOS ... but having said that, I am VERY familiar with POFQ as it's my all-time favorite Disney World resort. From the entrance courtyard with it's quaint fountain :artist: ... to the larger than life Mardi Gras float relics adorning the Food court ... to the fresh smell of hot beignets ... to the adorable streets with wrought iron guilding and lush foliage ... wait one sec (BRB) ... WHEW ... ok ... Just had a Dis'attack and needed to pull myself together:confused3 ... so as you can tell in a brief snapshot I LOVE POFQ. :jumping2:

Let me know if you have ANY other questions ... as with all of the DisFamily, I LOVE talking bout Walt's place!!

Thank you for the kind words for JJ & I ... it's great to make new friends ... and you're one I'm already glad we've met here on the DIS!!

Here's a quick pic that makes a DisAttack set-in for me EVERY time (after I post it I'll have to log-off and go sulk for a while):

Oh don't worry if I get ever get that invite I'll make sure you and Liesa are the firsts to know and hopefully get invited too!!

With WDW they have a lot of promotions we'd use but alas the plane tickets is what kills us. If we go before the baby turns 2 I have to get 4 plane tickets after he turns 2 we'll have to get 5 plane tickets and with us talking about having at least 1 more baby it'll make it even harder for us to go. But I will make it back soon!! I hope!!

I love being able to drive to Disneyland!! It's what makes my trips possible. It takes us about 7 1/2 hours to get there and that's with us stopping to eat in Valenica. Thank goodness my kids are great travelers!!! Well if you ever need a break when your doing the drive and your in the Bay Area let me know!!!

It's......so....sniff.....beautiful......

Okay mister, I saw your great picture and went to check out the resort and ran across the big free dining breakout yesterday and now I've gone and done it. The POFQ won't work for out family this time, but I was tempted by the Fort Wilderness cabins for the 7 of us. With the free dining in February and a large family of big eaters, we decided to switch our DL plans to WDW. I'm still not 100% sure but wanted to get on the planning. I doubt anything will change my min: the money's there, the time's there, free dining sounds fun, and these kids of mine aren't gettin any younger. It just wasn't the plan and I'm not always good at spontaneity- though I guess planning a trip 6 month out is not exactly living on the edge.:rotfl:

Guess it's time to go get me one of those banners.:cheer2:

Yup ... those banners are the ticket ... LOVE knowing you've "seen the light" ... and even tho I haven't stayed in the cabins I have to let you know my VERY FIRST Dismemory is held at Fort Wilderness. I recommend you look into the "Hoop De Doo Review" since it's on home turf and you have "big eaters" in your group.

Yeah, I remember when I was a little kid, those ride cars seemed so huge!!! :lmao:

James need a trip to WDW!!!

YES! Indeed that WOULD be an epic DISMeet.

And YES, James DOES need a trip to WDW; every kid should go at least once, right?

Sandra! Start hinting that you have a wonderful group of friends who would love to meet your club 33 friend!!! :lmao:

Plane tickets can be killer. For us it'd add about $400 per ticket (x7). Not going to happen anytime soon. Luckily we have family in KY and can drive 14 hours from there.

I hope you had fun this weekend! :goodvibes

OH THANKS, Brook!! I had a great time! It's always a ton of work (hey, reminds me of living overseas!) but the family and warm weather make it always delightful! I slept better than the first time we took out camper out, I had pre-cooked MOST of my food, and the weather was perfect (NORain). All in all, I'd say it was a pretty successful trip!

WHEW ... ok ... Just had a Dis'attack and needed to pull myself together:confused3 ... so as you can tell in a brief snapshot I LOVE POFQ. :jumping2:

Pull yourself together man!!

Well, ok, with photos like that, I'd be a melting pile of mush too. ;)

Oh don't worry if I get ever get that invite I'll make sure you and Liesa are the firsts to know and hopefully get invited too!!

:banana::banana::banana:

Obviously since the power of suggestion works so well with you, I'd like to request that you'd like to bequeath your entire estate to me, and any family members you may have to be included for the sole purpose of yard work. I can guarantee their happiness and well-being.

Once you have a ticker, it's a done deal. Period.;)

Yes! HDDR is a super fun show for a large group- well actually it can be pretty fun for a small group of really silly women too.

Hi Liesa, I hope your camping trip was great! :goodvibes

It was pretty wonderful! We found some hot springs in addition to all the hiking. I soaked in one for about an hour one day- it was so warm and nice! A bit shallow and silty, but very nice.

The hike on the mountain of obsidian was VERY cool! An entire large hill completely made of black glass!

Of course we all ate more s'mores than we should have, and had a fancy time of toasting my DFIL with REAL champagne as well one evening :)
