ABCs of Trip Reporting, Pt. 2-Life Can Be Crappy and Then You Move On (3/7)

what a lovely update! I'm probably behind 5 or so before this one but loved loved your New Orleans Square update and how swimmingly the transfer process went. LOVE the spiderweb floor. Who knew!

First off ... LIESA I am soooooo kicking myself for shrinking into the dark gloom of post-Disney doldrums ... my Disfriends are a lifeline and now I'm sad I missed all the fun in the looooooong interim. Your TR is amazing ... brilliant pics ... quippy whips ... delicious sips ... and awesome tips.

My own gushing tale of woe includes a dad (yup, me) wantin' to be cool :cool1: and show off his catlike reflexes for his kiddos ... ummmm ... turns out "Goofy's Water Jets" don't always follow the same pattern and, well, that is one geyser of water that holds noooo forgiveness:confused3

 Ooooooweeee, I'm all bouncy now!! Thanks Mpp pluto: I can't wait for those GEM's :dance3: to show me how to do Disney RIGHT~~

Oh dear JJ ... we may even show you a few ways to do Disney WRONG :cool2:

Hey JJ and MPP - :welcome: back! glad to see you here and planning a trip! We really should meet up some time since we are all local.

Hey JenB ... so great to be back ... so great to hear from you ... and ABSOLUTELY let's look at a get together sometime soon. Send me a PM and we'll start gathering dates.

I am so happy you're back, Jamie!!!! WAAAAAAAAAAAHOOOOTY!!!!

Glad you talked Rob into joining us again!! It's been way too long since he's yucked it up here!! Yes, of course you both need to chime in and hang out with us- although admittedly, I'm not around as much as I desperately want to be the last few weeks. I think things will normalize though soon, and I'll be "regular" once again (God, please don't let the tag fairy get a hold of that one!)

Oh my Liesa ... well I agree, always good to be regular!! Though with my recent Distapation I certainly understand how the tempest of life can swirl about. As for me re-joining ... I agree, Jamie has been a great encouragement and influence in that happening ... and so have YOU Liesa ... thank you for reaching out and reeling me back.

DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUDE!! MPP is back!! Rob, I'm so glad you are back to hang!! I swear it's like Christmas today! Okay, now that that's out of my system, no, it's never too early to get all giddy inside for a trip. I'm pretty sure my PTR started 15 months out.

I am so looking forward to at least some stories and pix from your trip last year! Those 3 little piggies of yours are just hte cutest things EVUH!! And I'll never forget your snack post- I'm dying to know which ones you sought out and consumed!

I sure am glad that I'm somehow associated with 'Christmas' ... though ... talk about gettin a lump of coal!! Seriously, thanks for the encouragement on the PTR ... right now I'm toying with doing some type of hijacked, hybrid amalgamation of TR/PTR reflecting back on the last trip as I write in anticipation of the next ... wow ... would that type of crazy Frankenpost even be allowed on the DIS?????

Oh wait: Inaugural Dinner. My 2 choices would be Ca. Grill or Narcoosees. Not been to the latter, but hear it rocks.

I've been to the Cali Grill and loved it (I know JJ would ROCK the sushi there) but alas, that may be somethin more for Tink and I to jump into for a Cinderella kinda night ... with 14 people in tow for this first meal (and many of them good ole' PA Dutch Meat 'n' taters folks naw vonst) the Cali would likely strike fear. Love the idea of Narcoose's ... I want to check that menu cause I know my parent's LOVE visiting the GF. Alas, right now it looks like I'm outvoted by the rest of the family and we'll end up back at the Cape May Buffet ... ... again  ... for the third time as our "first night sojourn:mad:. Though I prolly shouldn't complain because (a) it's seafood and (b) Mom and Dad Pluto are footin the bill :rolleyes1

SOOOOOO GREAT TO BE BACK pluto:

New Orleans Square looks so pretty. I can't wait to go to DL someday as I do not really remember my one and only visit way back in 89!

I'm glad that you all got to enjoy HM and that the transfer wasn't too difficult. :thumbsup2

Someday I will tour DL, I will.

I am glad you got good insructions on the transfer and all went well. Are those Doombuggys bigger in Cali vs. FL ? If you remember when I went with 2 friends the doombuggy barely held all 3 "bums" :rotfl2:

Hi Liesa, what beautiful pics of NOS! I'm excited to see what that delicious looking beverage is. It looks like a cherry Limeade. I'm glad you took the plunge and brought Aunt Cherie on the Doombuggies - so fun to hear about your giggly good time!:rotfl: I'm looking forward to what else she can ride now!

Hmmm Club 33 - need to find someone who knows someone who can get us in there:rolleyes1

Heyyyy ... how come I didn't hear about this lil ditty?! BwaHaaaa :lmao:

Oh dear JJ ... we may even show you a few ways to do Disney WRONG :cool2:

;) I'm countin' on it!

...hmmm ... say what?

YEAH--Behave!!

WDW: WOW! You were WET! That is some crazy rain! And that was with your poncho on?!

DL: NOS looks adorable! I love those little flower light fixtures-that is so clever...so Disney! And :yay: on a successful transfer!

/
I will make it there! I love seeing your pictures. :)

Great update!

The theming of New Orleans Square looks amazing! So glad you tried transferring and that it worked out fairly well! Neat shots at HM! I would so love to just look at Club 33 - wouldn't that be amazing?!?? That and Walt's apartment!

The transferring was an experiment that just turned out great and really opened up our "world"! I'd love to visit Club 33 once too! I've seen pix posted on the internet, and although it doesn't look anymore spectacular than say any other WELL done fancy restuarant, (I do mean extra fancy) it'd just be neat to go where Walt entertained.

Liesa, I love the update. And what a charming area...I can see why you love it so. I'm so glad the transfer went easier than you all expected and that you could do more than you thought you would be able to.

Charming is a great word to describe NOS! Very quaint, and I love that it captures the "romantic" side of NOLA- a clean version, if you will.

I'm glad to read that it wasn't too difficult to transfer your aunt to the doombuggy and that you had such a good time on the ride. And that now you'll be looking for more ride opportunities. :goodvibes

Yup, we were ride stalkers after that, for sure! :thumbsup2

I'm so glad you were able to expand you choices of rides. It really does seem like you all were having a great time. I really do love DL and hope to someday go back.

Thanks, Dawn! We were having the time of our lives, and it was so neat to see my aunt really living in the moment and focusing on that rather than her disease :)

what a lovely update! I'm probably behind 5 or so before this one but loved loved your New Orleans Square update and how swimmingly the transfer process went. LOVE the spiderweb floor. Who knew!

Thanks, Cynthia.

Well, if you've been anything like me, you've simply not been around much at all. Summer came in like a rush, and it's been so ever since; just too much to cram in in such a short time.

Isn't that floor cool?? I think most would never see it, and not only is the themeing so cool about it, but the inlay work in superb!

Awww, thanks for those nice complements!!

I think most folks' activity here on the DIS ebbs and flows over life circumstances. Most come back, but I'll admit, it's hard when someone disappears for no apparent or stated reason; it leaves "the family" wondering, "Is everything ok?" Often times it's not. :guilty:

My own gushing tale of woe includes a dad (yup, me) wantin' to be cool :cool1: and show off his catlike reflexes for his kiddos ... ummmm ... turns out "Goofy's Water Jets" don't always follow the same pattern and, well, that is one geyser of water that holds noooo forgiveness:confused3

EEK! Sounds like an exciting TR in the making! Let us know when you start!

Oh dear JJ ... we may even show you a few ways to do Disney WRONG :cool2:

:lmao:

You are so welcome! Glad you are back!

Well, whatever iteration that ends up being, do shoot a PM, or put it in your siggie!

SOOOOOO GREAT TO BE BACK pluto:

Yeah, no complaining rights there. Cape May should be a decent choice to satisfy everyone, but I do get the "over and over, and over again" thing.

I think DLR is definitely worth going to at least once, just enough differences in the parks to make it worth it!

Me too!!

Someday I will tour DL, I will.

Well, hmmm...I really don't know if they are bigger. :confused3 I do know it was rather tight in there, but not uncomfortably so; then again both my aunt and I are not really big.

Hi Liesa, what beautiful pics of NOS! I'm excited to see what that delicious looking beverage is. It looks like a cherry Limeade. Not even close on that drink! You will be like, "OF COURSE!" when I tell you!

yeah, it really did open up so many more possibilities.

It is possible to get in as guests; we knew a couple that got an invite once through some friends, and they said they loved it!

WDW: WOW! You were WET! That is some crazy rain! And that was with your poncho on?!

DL: NOS looks adorable! I love those little flower light fixtures-that is so clever...so Disney! And :yay: on a successful transfer!

I truly was the drowned rat specimen. And with FL weather, those pants stayed wet for the rest of the trip, if I remember right.

I thought they were just charming! And yes, so Disney- I"m sure they must have been hand crafted at the Imagineering workshop.

I will make it there! I love seeing your pictures. :)

Thanks, Shann! I hope you can get out there sooner than later; there's plenty of "unique" to see there!

SOOOOOO GREAT TO BE BACK pluto:

Sooo glad to see and JJ back on the Dis !!!I leave in 20 days with the Family and then go again in October as an Escort to Special Needs Group , I refer to these as my FREE Trips !!!!!:yay:

Well, that was rather rude of them not to notify anyone. Unless they intended to just not have anyone come?? :confused3 Odd.

The only thing I can think of is they didn't think we'd come. It has been a long, long time since I've seen this side of the family. I think it's been at least 20 years or so. So I have no clue. But I'll probably be back in Oregon next month for other reasons.

How about a little closer??

Disney2011184.jpg

Wanna get even closer?? Even inside??

FORGET ABOUT IT!!!

Have no idea what’s so special about that place?? Here’s a website that might help shed some light for you. If you thought it was difficult to see the backside of water, try Club 33!!

I've been trying to get an invite into there for the last 7 years!!!!! :scared1: My guess is I will make it one day!! I have a friend who used to know someone with access but she doesn't know if they still do. I told her it's never to late to reconnect with old friends who have great connnections. :rotfl: Yeah she didn't go for it!! :confused3 But she did say if she finds anyone else who does she will get me an invite cuz she knows I wouldn't do anything to embarass the memeber. Or would I?

Here’s a photo you RARELY ever get to see:

Disney2011203.jpg

There are usually about 100 people standing on this floor as you load onto the elevator, but we got to be the only ones on it, and a nice CM pointed it out to me! A spider web inlaid on wooden floor!! Cool beans, eh??

That is cool!! I will have to check that out in either Sept or October when we go back for Halloween. But yes there are normally about 100 people standing on that exact spot. But I have seen all the lines but was never able to put 2 and 2 together cuz I didn't get to see the whole picture until now.

Hi Liesa, what beautiful pics of NOS! I'm excited to see what that delicious looking beverage is.

I know, I know!! They are pretty refreshing!!!

Hmmm Club 33 - need to find someone who knows someone who can get us in there:rolleyes1

If you get in and don't tell me I'd be sooooo jealous!!!! I've been trying to get in for about 7 years now!!!! But I have been in the lobby and the elevator. Just not to the top floor!! I'll see if I can my pics from June 2006 and share them if anyones interested.

Love NOS, so pretty and quaint. Do the New Orlean resorts at WDW have the same magical feel...anyone?

I also know what that tasty drink is but on the last trip I bought one in the evening and didn't enjoy it so much. I think it was just to cold out- much better as a cool treat during the heat.

While researching for my last DL trip I read about club 33. I mentioned it to a friend who is Disney ambivalent and she was like "yeah, we went for lunch 15 years ago, it was nice". She had no idea how special it was and didn't even go check out the bathroom!! Apparently her husband's work had a corporate membership with guest benefits. I was rather jealous!

And for MyPalPluto and JJ, I can tell already you will be too much fun- I will be keeping my eye out for you two. Hope you have room for new friends!

(btw- quoting on my iPad takes me forever. When/if I get serious about this dising I thinking I'll have to get out the laptop.)

And for MyPalPluto and JJ, I can tell already you will be too much fun- I will be keeping my eye out for you two. Hope you have room for new friends!

:woohoo: Pimama, We always have room for new friends--Hello to you from JJ (aka "Just Jamie"):tinker:
... My pal Pluto is the more prolific of the two of us when it comes to Dis-communication as I've not yet earned my ears (well, kinda ... but I was 5 at the time of my only visit and have next to NO recollection of it :sad2:) but I'll flutter by now and then to keep up with you all and hopefully learn lots!!

It was my pleasure and privilege to be a part of making some special last memories with 3 other beautiful and dear ladies. Some of what we experienced together I have chosen to keep to myself; some memories are just too precious to be shared. But there were many, many things that I am delighted to bring to you with hopes you can be touched and moved as much as we were. Even as I sit typing this I am misting up at knowing this is the end of a golden era…
The star of our show (Walt always had his mind on presenting a show) is my dear, and always in my mind, incredibly beautiful Aunt Cherrie. She was my “idol” for as long as I remember; her gift of gracious hostessing, making her home a luxurious, inviting place, and her impeccable attention to detail in fashion and presentation of self were things I have always admired in her. In short, she always “had it together”. Given that, I find it incredibly ironic that she is now entering the advanced stages of ALS or Lou Gehrig’s Disease. Here is a link if you are interested in learning more about this horrible affliction.
She still “has it together”. Even with her body falling apart, she gives glory to God every day for the time she has, has more joy in her life than most people I know who have a working body and all the money they could ever need, and she still wouldn’t be caught dead without looking like a million bucks.

She ABsoLUTELY looks like a million bucks!!

Next is my mom. I love her more than life itself. She is my confidante, and another woman of great faith that I admire greatly. Aside from her mother (my grandmother for those of you who are keeping score), she was the one responsible for passing on her love for all things Disney. As you’ll see in this little TR, there was a BUNCH of reminiscing of Disney memories. Mom and Aunt Cherrie figure that they have been coming to Disneyland regularly since 1956. I hope I can pass along some of the conversations I overheard during our 3 days together. Some, I can guarantee will simply amaze you!!
Lastly, for one of our 3 days my aunt’s and mom’s cousin, Carol, came and met us for the day. She was one of the “trio” who would spend summer days at Disneyland. Mom, Aunt Cherrie and Carol spent many a good time romping around together making those same memories I will pass along on our journey. She still lives in Burbank, only minutes from the original Disney studio, and has some really cool personal history herself from the mid- 50’s at the Disney company. I hope they are as fun for you to learn about as they have been for me!

I like to take my time in the story telling, so hope you will bear with me as I try to re-create for you,

Wha…??!!?? Yeah, I just had to use it. It was the theme of our trip. Number 1, that is. With Cherrie having less and less “function”, and me with my morning coffee consumption, and mom with her 4 gallons of iced tea with lunch, it was a party in the lady’s room- again, and again, and again…. But funnier than that, it was actually a line my aunt blurted out as we were on our way to ride Pooh. Once again, for the dozenth time that morning already, Cherrie slurs out- “So, let’s pee before Pooh!”

Since responding to this thread, laughing at the "title" but not knowing how it originated, I finally made the time (who cares if the dishes need done, the bathroom could use a once over and the rug has "gooblefeathers" {as my dear Mom calls crumbly crud that seemingly appears outta nowhere!} needs a TWICE over) to go back and read how this wonderful tale started ...
The love you have for the special women who helped shape your life and the precious time you all were able to share, shines off the "page". I don't have to tell you, as it is completely obvious you already know this, but you are so very blessed to have them and these memories to hold on to in the future when their laughter is just an echo in your heart.
Thanks Liesa--what a lovely way to start the day ... I can't wait to read more!! :coffee:

It's so interesting hearing about Disneyland. Everything looks very similar to Disney World, while still maintaining its own unique character. I'm glad the transferring wasn't a problem.

When we arrived back “home” I looked like this:

DSCN9894.jpg

And so the all-important question is how is a girl to go from that, to great, for our first signature dinner in an hour??

Oh gosh! That picture speaks a thousand words. Reminds me of our trip in May of 09. We got caught in a similar deluge - what is it about Epcot? We were literally wading through ankle deep water!

Can I just say we had the time of our lives?? It was magical in every way…. the harmony-singing busts still being my most very favorite part.

Mine too! I love those guys! I'm so glad the transferring process was smooth. Sounds like you had a blast!

BTW, I just got caught up on Steppesister's Songs. I'm loving your latest posts! You're on a roll now - keep 'em comin!

Just checking in !!Been a BRUTAL 10 days !!! Tomorrow I at least get to sleep past 7 a.m and do not have to work till midnight !!:banana:I can't believe in 18 days we will be in Orlando !! 19 and at POP !!:banana:I am soooo not ready but come the 18th we will be on our way and I will do what has to be done !!
