ABCs of Trip Reporting, Pt. 2-Life Can Be Crappy and Then You Move On (3/7)

That sure didn't hurt! I didn't think that my answer was very unique and I was a little worried that someone else would submit it also.

My feeling exactly... It looks like we are once again in fierce competition - both just one point behind Rosie... who did get 4 points, didn't she? Otherwise how can she have 12 now while we have 11??

Liesa, I really enjoyed your arrival at the Poly, it is such a wonderful resort. :cloud9: You were really lucky that you got the room with the sideways view of the castle... I know that I played in the master predictor game, because I remember that I had to say something about which building at the Poly, but I have no idea which one I picked... I know that I joined very late, so maybe you are missing my entry??

I did appreciate your honest review of Pop Century. I think reviews are only useful if they reflect your honest opinion and it only can reflect your experience. You told us what you saw and now we can make our own decisions on wether we can ignore dirty diapers or whether we would be freaked out by them. ;) I was wondering about one aspect you mentioned: the behaviour of other guests. I am certain that people in general behave differently depending on where they are. The Poly with is luxurious, lush and green atmosphere is more relaxing, so people would feel out of place shouting and running around much more than at a place which is already noisy. Also the rather bare looking concrete hallways at the Pop might invite people more to use them as a trash can than the interior carpeted hallways at the Poly.

And if your main reason against DVC is that it isn't available at the Poly, that should change at some point. There are very strong rumors for about 5 new DVC locations to be built (actually I am not sure whether this is such a good move, the market will be saturated at some point), and the Poly, the GF and Fort Wilderness are destinations which are quite certain.

I knew I'd have to keep my eye on the fraulein from Alemania, but this prim and proper Englishwoman leading the pack has come out of nowhere!

Work was much too busy the last weeks, but now I'm looking forward to L. I really like this game!!

Now, one last bit of housekeeping! I took a peek at that OLD GAME, Master Predictor. There was an answer revealed in the last update- but as far as I see, there were only 12 players! IS THAT RIGHT???? I thought there were a LOT more? I am so confused!! I will look around for perhaps an old version of my score sheet that might have gotten lost, but if I can’t find it, I will post another point for those that I have recorded who played.

I know I played, I found an old PM where you quoted my answers. But I seem to have missed answering this particular question....

I don't have time to get to the replies in full right now, between ferrying kids to driver's permit tests (my 3rd, Andrew,(funny how my 15 year old passed first, followed by my 18 year old, and just only now my 20 year old just passed! Hooray!!), eye appointments, and this evening's dress rehearsal, I'm slammed today. BUT, would love to get Letter L up! I found the picture I want to use, but need to write the text and post it.

Anywhooo... Rosie, you and Glenn were tied at Letter I. Each of you got 2 for Letter J, but you and Glenn got 2 for K, while Rosie scored 3- putting her one up on you two. Alas, she is leaving on a trip, and unless she logs in and answers Letter L, she may be out.... duh, duh, dum....

May the best (and most creative) win!!

I NEED those answers again, if you still have them!!

OH GOSH, I feel HORRIBLE I can't find them!! I think we resubmitted the questions in the first thread, but I ca't remember if I had folks post them in the thread, or PM them to me... If they are in the thread, then I am good, if not, I only have record of 12 players- and I KNOW there were WAY more. AAARGH!! I hate when I mess up like this!!

Oh, Liesa I really don't want to pester you with this, but I think you gave Rosie that fourth point (which is fine by me) which you said you didn't... I am quoting only the relevant parts of your post with my comments in my usual light blue

The last time I added up points, from letters G-I, here is what I came up with. As you can see, it was still quite a close game.

Glenn 6
Magdalene 6
Rosie 6

Now, let’s see what the Letter J round did for everyone? Pretty much on that one, if you put in a guess, you got it. And those folks were:

Glenn, Rosie, Magdalene

which makes your scores after round J, two more than what you see there above.

Ok, in my book that makes 8 points for each of us...

In absolutely no particular order, here’s what was sent to me. Those who scored 2 points are:

[several names, neither Glenn, Rosie nor Flossbolna included]

Those who scored an extra bonus point were:

Rosie, who I should give an additional point to for her guess of KEVIN- which was in my update! (Sorry Rosie, there’d be much whining and gnashing of teeth if I gave you 4 points!)

Flossbolna- the only one who said “Keys to the Kingdom”

Glennbo- with Knife wielding guys at the Luau

So each of us should get another 3 points, getting our total up to 11 points each, but then you come to this conclusion:

So, let’s adjust our new scores to reflect what stands as we go into the last round of Part 2:

Glenn 11; Magdalene 11; Rosie 12;

So you claimed that you did not give Rosie 4 points, but you actually did in the end! ;) Just admit it and I promise and I won't be any whining nor teeth gnashing on my part! Actually guessing a K which was in your update is a pretty special achievement which should be honored accordingly. :thumbsup2

Congratulations to all those new drivers in your family! I hope they will drive safely! :drive:

:scared1::scared1::scared1:

Carpola!! You're right!!! What happened, is I messed up (as usual)! OK! I admit it!! Rosie Dear, please forgive me, but you really only do have 11- tied for first with several others. Dang it. Honestly, I"m more concerned that half (at best guess) of the players' scores for Master Predictor are GONE!!

Now I need to AGAIN go back through every thread and find them- that's going to take hours! EEE GAD!! :scared1:

Oh man, I'm tied with Marv?? I need to break away from the pack. Any chance of extra credit points Liesa? What if I told you that I think you're quite lovely and an extraordinary TR writer. Anything? Yes? No? How do feel about cash bribes?

My guesses are still in my PM folder. Do you need it re-sent, or am I one of the lucky 12 that didn't get lost?

I must be one of the very few! Actually, I bet there are QUITE a few of us who've read it.

I think you actually are. You and a couple others are all that's left of the "old bunch". Seems amazing at how long ago that really was- so much water under the bridge now.

This is the part in your TR that I've been waiting for! I, too, long to stay at the Poly someday! And I will. But for now, I'll visit it vicariously through you :goodvibes

Whoopee!! We're here!! I know you've been anxious for this part! And I hope you will get to. Now that you are a TA, maybe that dream will become a reality!?

More Poly pix over hte next weeks...

Agreed. I'm not in a huge hurry to go back. I am, however, looking forward to trying out the family suites when the new Art of Animation Resort opens next year. At least there'll be a coffee maker!

I will be very interested to see the first pix coming out of there too!

Wow! Gorgeous! You really lucked out on that :woohoo:

I LOVED the view we had- I wonder how much of it had to do with a fair bit of worry and whining at check-in...

Poor LeeAnn! I would have been a wreck wondering when/if I'd finally get there, and feeling like my whole first day was shot.

She basically was- apologizing over and over, knowing how special this dinner was.

Can't wait to hear how the dinner at Ohana turns out - my favorite!

We'll see.....???

Wow, your view at the Poly is amazing. :lovestruc

I haven't stayed at Pop yet but I would like to. I do think that we might just do a night stay on arrival night just to try it out before we move to our resort for the rest of the week.

Wasn't it so? I think the POP is definitely worth trying out once just to see if it's your style. Some people really like the noisy and lively vibe there. :confused3

That sure didn't hurt! I didn't think that my answer was very unique and I was a little worried that someone else would submit it also.

Sometimes the luck factor kicks in, and it's just something no one else thought of. :wizard:

Wa Hooey !!:woohoo: Rosie is in the lead !!!That is until Marv figures out some way to take away my points:rotfl2:
Okay now unless "L" is up very soon I will be away sooooo don't add up the scores until I am back !!!:worship::worship::worship:

Well..... I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but there was a minor math error. You'll have to work extra hard at letter L! Hope you're checking in often!

Our first POP experience was in Jan 2004 when it was only 3 mos old - and while is was an adjustment for this deluxe resort lover, we had a delightful stay. None of what Liesa experienced...even in December of 2004 while POP Warner surrounded us, it was still wonderful. December 2005, no PW and another delightful stay...then came Feb 2006 - 4 ngts before moving over the a BWV stay (on points). We said we'd never stay at POP again. The change was unbelievable to us - parents screaming obscenities at their children, smokers everywhere, especially right outside our door sitting on the chairs from their room. Not fun anymore. In August 2008 I moved over to POP for 2 ngts from SSR due to Tropical Storm Faye and flight cancellation. While my neighbors were nice folks, the resort was so loud, the food court a mess and well, guess it had lost it's charm.

I'm so happy others have had a different experience, perhaps more like our first 4 stays. Now I appreciate more than ever the peace of a moderate of deluxe....not that there cannot be loud guests, definitely the occasional smoker on the balcony, which means we do not get to use our balcony, but it is rarer these days and overall a much more relaxing trip. For me it is a big park of my Disney vacation. Sorry for the rant!!!

Anyhoo... Rosie and I are in the same resort indecision, ever changing 2012 Trip Club for our Duel Birthday Celebration planning.:thumbsup2 Well, actually, that would me more moi than Rosie.:rolleyes1

Sounds like it may need a management shake up. Smoking is one thing that can be called out. As for parents misbehaving, that's another dynamic that is quite another matter to tackle. Frankly, I don't have a good answer for that.

All I can say, is that apparently, it still holds a certain charm for many- and that is ok.

I'm sure you'll get the birthday resort choice figured out, Christine! In the end, you two are going to have a amazing celebration together! :woohoo:

Loved it all except for the tea. They serve Gold Peak. Which is not so much a tea as it is an oddly flavored water. Never had it before our trip and wasn't really impressed with it. However, it did lead to a Disney moment a while back. A couple weeks ago, I had to run to the convenience store and it just so happened that they had Gold Peak. It had been one of those days where I was missing the mess out of Disney so I decided to get some. It still tasted terrible but a funny thing happened. My mind immediately went back to the evening we spent lounging around the Hippy Dippy. It was one of those nights where it was hot and I wasn't in a soda mood and slammed back a good 3 or 4 mug fillings of Gold Peak. The images of splashing around with girls came to mind in surprisingly vivid detail. It was a fun little flashback. Which is not to say I plan on adding Gold Peak to my permanent beverage dance card. Puh-lease!

That would drive me nuts too.

We have Wilderness Lodge ambitions on a Fort Wilderness tent budget. We’ll see how it all comes together. I imagine a value resort is going to win the bulk of our stay, however, I hold out hope for a resort hop the last couple of nights. (Which is why this particularly chapter of your TR was particularly helpful.)

That is so funny what triggers a nostalgic Disney moment! Tea, of all things. Huh! (As she sits here with a "stolen" mug.) I'm sure all those happy giggles and splishy splashy fun came crashing back at you, and got you feeling all good inside, didnt' it? But, I"m with you, Gold Peak need not be permanent change in drink decisioning. Ewww....

Then we have something in common, GB... ask me how many times I've stayed at the Fort. Luckily, it's a very nice reality. by the time you go agian, those new pads over the bridge may be up and running- I'd love that option!

Oh Phooey !!! Marv didn't even have to appeal to the Rules Committee:rotfl2:I wont be able to check in till Monday evening when I get back !!!!:sad1:

That is the best line I've heard since my mother used to tell me that I had "champagne taste with a beer pocketbook". :rolleyes1

My mother used to say that to me too. Sadly, it's too true.

Liesa, I really enjoyed your arrival at the Poly, it is such a wonderful resort. :cloud9: You were really lucky that you got the room with the sideways view of the castle... We were really lucky- and I was savoring every last minute of solo time I had. Not that I wasn't super excited to be joining the other gals, but there wwere still a few things on my bucket list here at the poly and at MK.

I have your answers from eons ago... no worries.

I did appreciate your honest review of Pop Century. I think reviews are only useful if they reflect your honest opinion and it only can reflect your experience. Also the rather bare looking concrete hallways at the Pop might invite people more to use them as a trash can than the interior carpeted hallways at the Poly.

you may have a good theory here. I would tend to agree, the atmosphere probably has a lot to do with it. Good points, all!

Hmmm... I'm not sure if that would persuade me to commit to spending money every year on maintenance fees, and other stuff associated with the costs of owning, but it does make it more attractive for sure. ITA, the market is already full of DVC props, and adding 5 more, while fun, is a LOT! But, could it possibly bring the price down?

I knew I'd have to keep my eye on the fraulein from Alemania, but this prim and proper Englishwoman leading the pack has come out of nowhere!

HAHA! She caught ya! She was faking all those previous losses only to make her move now, I think! ;)

Finally one of the BOYS admitted I am Prim and Proper :snooty::rolleyes1:lmao:

:lmao: Did they ever doubt you? I know I didn't! :rolleyes1

Work was much too busy the last weeks, but now I'm looking forward to L. I really like this game!!

I know I played, I found an old PM where you quoted my answers. But I seem to have missed answering this particular question....

Sent you a PM!

Thanks! I got it!! Will add your scores right now!

L is coming up soon!

Congratulations to all those new drivers in your family! I hope they will drive safely! :drive:

YAYAYAY!! Andrew got a 94% on his test today- now the hard part of finding time to get him behind the wheel! With 3 practicing drivers, it's certainly going to be tricky! I see mucho $$$$ going towards gas... :scared1: But we really, REALLY need to get these kids (who have WAY too many outside activities now) to be licensed!

Oh man, I'm tied with Marv?? I need to break away from the pack. Any chance of extra credit points Liesa? What if I told you that I think you're quite lovely and an extraordinary TR writer. Anything? Yes? No? How do feel about cash bribes?

Yup!With Marv, who hasn't been around for weeks, really. Poor guy, I hope he can come up for air sometime soon!

I'll take the compliments, but as for extra points... hmmm.. thinking on that one.

Ok,

Nope.

:lmao:

My guesses are still in my PM folder. Do you need it re-sent, or am I one of the lucky 12 that didn't get lost?

YES!! Please, Tanya, send me anything you may have!

Which thread might that be? I went back to read a thread before the thread I first read when you were still on mission and planning the trip for the current TR. Clear as mud? :surfweb:

Oh, no worries about the resort for our birthdays - planning and more planning, changing and more changing is half the fun for me! :thumbsup2

Looking forward to the next update and more Poly pics!! TY!

p.s. The champagne quote is still true for me too. Oh, well, could be worse vices! ;)

Oh Phooey !!! Marv didn't even have to appeal to the Rules Committee:rotfl2:I wont be able to check in till Monday evening when I get back !!!!:sad1:

At the rate I"m going, Rosie, I doubt the answer will be posted until then anyway... so don't stress too hard. However, I really hope to get the clue up tonight!!
