ABCs of Trip Reporting, Pt. 2-Life Can Be Crappy and Then You Move On (3/7)

Oh No Liesa no offense taken !! I still LOVE Pop !! Even when I do my solo trips and to be honest Value is the only way I can do solo trips !!Sure I have noticed some rude people annnd mostly Brazillians !!! Sorry but true !!Of course we all know I have my Favorite CM Elise at the gift shop!!!!
But for our 65th trip Christine and I are thinking well actually Christine is thinking !!:rotfl2:of doing Deluxe and I am into either Akl Savannah or Boardwalk !!!!So after that I can make a fair comparison!!!

Doing a little trip report pimping. I just started my new report and thought I would let you know. :goodvibes

Feeling Hot Hot Hot! The Rain Curse is Broken! Two Weeks of Fun in the Sun!

OK, I"m over there!

We stayed at the pop on our last trip. We liked it. The staff was great. Noise wasn't too bad around our room. Did notice alot of people like to leave their items on the walkway outside the rooms. Mainly swim suits and towels etc. Didn't see any diapers:scared1: The only complaint I have is...there is a bathroom near the pool use it please....pool was shut down 3 times while we were there. YUCK!

Perhaps the time of year I was there had something to do with it? I just don't know- other than that it really had such a different "feel" to it.

Uh- oh.... pool-poo.

I love your Poly view. It is my dream to stay there one day, I love it.

I really hope you get to someday!!!

I'm glad you aren't upset that the POP just wasnt' for me. Yes, anyplace but a value would be out of my price range too, if I were the only one paying. We'd either be there or camping at the Fort again.

I looked several times for Elise, but never did see her. I was hoping Id run into her for a picture. at least once.

If I were to vote, I'd say AKL!!!

Checking in at the Polynesian sounds heavenly. I love the Castle view and seeing the Monorail and the ferryboat right there. I bet it was even better compared to Pop Century.

I think your opinion of Pop Century is very accurate. If all the resorts cost the same amount, I don't think there would be many of us at the values. I'd rather stay at any of the moderates or even better, any of the deluxes. But when I want to go to Disney and I want to go as cheaply as possible, Pop Century is just fine.

The Poly is definitely on my wish list, but I think the closest I will get to it is a DVC pool hop. Wouldn't it be wonderful if there was a Poly DVC??????

Your room view is breathtaking. That is a huge score! How totally awesome.

Hey - and FWIW - we got lost in the Poly parking lot LAST May. Kept driving around in circles until the GPS finally said, "Impossible".

Yes, unfortunately, cheap is a contributing factor to my vacations as well, and it's likely I'll stay there again, someday. But given a choice, like you say, it wouldn't be first on my list. The f-bomb being thrown around was definitley a huge bummer for me- and I'd heard it there far too many times.

It was so cool to have the ferry and monorails in my view! Loved that!!

I doubt I'll ever be able to afford the DVC, but the Poly not having a DVC section is definitely one of the downsides of it for me. How could I not want that option. Or even the mods for that matter?

I was actually pretty stunned when I first walked out onto our patio the first time!! I was exactly, TOTALLY like that.

What is WITH that parking lot?? I think I actually drove OUT of it altogether TWICE before I figured out where I was going. I think the guard dude was like, what an airhead. :sad2:

I know! Piper's mom comes to mind. :sad1: TrayRene, I miss them. Wish I knew how to get in touch with them.

Yeah! What ever happened to them?!? :confused3

I actually talked with Tracy the other day- there are many hard things going on in her life, and she feels she just can't be "here" right now. She sends her love to everyone, and will be back "when she's ready". Meantime, just ask for comfort and peace in her life.

I don't know about Piper'sMom, though.

Well, I guess I need to figure something out about the light in my bed room. Or just make sure to go to bed at 10pm - then I will be well rested when the sun wakes me up and actually there is nothing better than waking up from the sun and not the alarm clock! The good thing is that I am actually awake and don't have to pull myself out of bed.

Getting up early is fine, if you need to. But yeah, it sure it easier if you get to bed on time. That's great you are feeling rested and ready for the day!! 10 hours does that for me!

Your lilacs sound wonderful! And I thought you would like the story about the ice saints.. :goodvibes

My lilacs are just about bloomed out, but the peonies are in full swing, as are the iris, the foxglove and a WHOLE bunch of other stuff! It's so lovely!

And yes, anytime you want to share cool German stuff like that, feel free!

I did notice that people seem to disappear from the DIS as well. I think to a certain degree it is due to the fact if you don't plan a trip at the moment (or write a report), there isn't so much reason for them to be here. But it is sad if they disappear and one doesn't know why. I am always a bit worried that the reason might be not a good one...

I think you're right- for some it might be too depressing to be here, if they knwo they aren't going back for a while. But the friendships I've made here are too precious to just "go away". It's more that just a TR to me.

Have a great party on Saturday!! And we will be looking forward to seeing you again once the weekend has passed. :thumbsup2

The party was AMAZING!! I hope my girls felt blessed and loved. There were 2 ladies that came that brought cameras. I have no idea when I'll be able to get their photos. Maybe Thursday night at dance. :confused3 But you can be sure, you'll see photos, as soon as I get them!

Very true! :lmao: Glad you don't mind! Riker's not bad either!

I hope the party is everything the girls hoped it would be and that it goes smoothly for you! I've been using the handy dandy chapter links to read the updates I missed so maybe by Monday I will be caught up! I sent you an FB msg with the dress measurements so when things slow down let me know if you think they will work. Enjoy the long weekend! :)

Agreed, Riker was mighty nice!

It did go very smoothly! The only detail I forgot was to light the floating candle in the bathroom, and of course, at one point, one of the mom's imformed me that the TP had run out. My bad for not putting an extra roll out! SHeesh!!

I still need to measure Anara. But will try to get to that tomorrow!! I'll PM you. ;)

/
Yay, a break! I need to catch up.:thumbsup2

Off to read.

Soooo, did I give you enough time??

Thank you for checking out my pre trip report - :cool1: Good for you - shaving off 2 minutes! :cheer2:

Sorry I went MIA - :rolleyes1 Mostly too many negative things going on at home, and I didnt want to bring anyone down with me - nor did I want to think about Disney - (one thing dh lost his job, his dream job with NASA - it got outsourced to.... wait, .... CHINA! :faint:)

Also we are heading to my parents for the Memorial Day weekend, but I plan on bringing my laptop - today it is 44 degrees COLD! By Monday - 90 degrees!!

I now need to spend all week catching up on everyone else's threads that I missed updates on over hte weekend. I'll be over again soon, Sandy! Promise :)

Oh not China! Really?! I'm shocked! Ok, in all seriousness, I hope he found something even better, Sandy, and that things are turning around for you in all the other areas too.

WOW! what a weather change! I'm so sick and tired of crappy weather here, I could just scream! Never got above 60 again today, and stil gray as gray can be.

PM sent. I have to say that one was kinda fun. ;)

:lmao: Hopefully fun enough to play :)

:lmao:

Liesa, I pm'ed you too.:goodvibes I hope I did better this round, letter "I" caused me brain pain!

Ok, got it! This one hopefully spared your brain from any uncomfort. :lmao:

PM Sent!

Jill in CO

Ok, dokey!

Sent a PM too! I really researched this one! Victory shall be mine pirate:

We shall see, we shall see....

I just PMd you also.

I also want to submit my recommendation for firefly. Watch the series, then watch the movie serenity. It kind of wraps things up after the series was cancelled. I am not a big sic fi geek....I like star wars, never got into star trek, but knew enough and had seen enough of it to enjoy the new star trek movie from last year. But firefly, I've seen described as a space-western....I love the characters, especially Mal.

Ok, recommendation duly noted... now to find it.... (them?) Blockbuster maybe?

Have lost my mind, so pm sent. No research, just what popped into my head....which meant I had to leave out most of came to mind. Clear as mud? :confused3 :teeth:

If I don't get back again, have a lovely Memorial Day Weekend!!:goodvibes

:dance3:

Got your PM, christine! I think it's all clear now, and as your home resort, this one ought to have been pretty dang easy!

We had a full, but lovely weekend. Thanks!! I sure hope you did too!

:rotfl: good one!!!

sending my PM in a couple minutes...

got it!! I know (from FB) that you're having a blast at WDW. Enjoy your girly time!! And I'll keep drooling over your posted pictures... sigh!

Have a GREAT Holiday weekend Liesa, and PARTY HARDY!!!!!:lmao::woohoo:

Hope everyone else on the thread has a great Memorial Day!:grouphug:

We partied very hearty! My SIL and her daughters spent the night and didn't leave until late the next day. So, guests in my house from Sat. afternoon until Sunday PM- then yardwork today, and play practice this PM. I MUST squeeze that workout in somewhere!

I missed the deadline for J, didn't I? By a hair?

Just in case I didn't (having skipped all the banter in a desperate attempt to catch up, I'm not so sure)...Jambo House; nearby is Jiko.

I think actually, you did. But you did get it right, if it had been on time. Does that make you feel better? :lmao:

K is fun -- I'm going to have to take some time and really try to be creative!

I need to go check!

Now on to the updates I missed while I was away

Liesa, I will never again be able to look at the MNSSHP pumpkins and not think that they are former princesses who procrastinated a bit too much! :rotfl:

Procrastinating always has a price to pay- this was a rather heavy one, don't you think?

Also, your family looks adorable in your Jane Austen-finery!

Thanks, I took the girls' profiles (the ones of htem alone) and framed them as one of their BD presents.

I also PM'd you !!This one gave my Kookiness free reign !!:lmao:
Dis I miss the answers to "J":confused3:confused3

I thought it was always operating on such terms. :lmao:

Oh my goodness, I'd totally forgotten about Lee Ann and the plane delay! I vividly recall checking for you, once she was in the air, to see what her options might be once she landed, to see if even making it that night was feasible.

That's pretty funny about the bug.

I have to say that your review of POP pretty much sums up how I think we'd feel and why we ended up not staying there. I didn't actually feel quite that way at ASM, just don't like the motel feel overall. ASM was pretty quiet all things considered but it was early Nov. I think POP would be fun for a night. Maybe 2. The concept of 3 put us over the edge and that's even with all the kids. But...to be honest, I also think it's age (mine). 10-20 years ago, I'm sure I'd have been fine with it and now that the kids are older it just isn't where I want to be for an extended period of time. That and the coffee thing (and double beds) would be a HUGE issue for me.

I  your Poly view! I admit, I have a hard time with a deluxe with an exterior entry but that view is something else. It's never been on my list to stay at, only b/c I think we do get the opportunity to go to Hawaii now and then but it really is a lovely lovely place and I can only imagine how soothing to the senses after POP. I'd be up for it on a girls trip for sure. :rotfl:

2 credits on pizza is nuts. It's overpriced OOP but not to the tune of 2 credits!

PM sent- Enjoy your weekend.

Thanks! And thanks!

Double Phew :worship:
First I thought I had missed the "J:" answers and secondly I thought my Kookiness was what you HAD to reply to:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Nope, you're all good, Rosie!

OMGoodness, finally caught up on all I've missed. Except that I wasn't here for it live, so I missed all the banter. And I do mean missed! I wish I had more time to be here on the DIS lately. My own thread will probably be shut down since I haven't updated it in so long.:sad1:

WHOA! It HAS been a long time! Glad you're back again!

I have to go into "no banter" mode more than I'd like to lately as well. No worries, Rebecca!

Anywho, I loved hearing more about the Epic DisMeet. What fun you girls had!

We did have such a great time together. I think I'd love to see the girls again later this summer, but maybe I'll venture up to the Seattle area if Cynthia has time.

Liesa you got some great pics at Animal Kingdom with your poc! I'm glad the battery held out on you.

It was def doing better, and I'd finally worked out the take a break technique.

So sorry to hear about Lori. I did not know her, but what a sad, sad thing.

It truly is sad to lose someone around here, especially to something as awful as that!

I promise I will try to keep up better!:) Have a great weekend!

I really do hope you can be here more often- but don't feel guilty for taking care of what you need to at home.

I appreciate your honest assessment of Pop Century. I've never stayed there, so am glad to hear the good and the bad.

I put the key into the ignition and it Would. Not. Start. No, back up… it would not even turn. Did the last 3.25% of my brain suddenly disappear at the POP? Where would I find it? I quickly hopped back out, and yelled across the parking lot to maroo- suddenly feeling like I really fit into “POP culture”- and she wheeled herself back. After several more unsuccessful tries and some hilarious coaching on her side, we tried something that did work. I don’t know what it was to this day, but it worked, and I was on my way.

I believe this story.

I drove around, and around, and OUT, and then around, and around again, before I finally found a place that I guess was meant for checker-inners. Who knows.

And I believe this story. Actually, the last story makes this story even more believable.

And I was also VERY impressed with our patio and its view. Take a look!

DisneyTrip2010011.jpg

Yep, castle view!

Awesome!

Meantime, back in the room, Tate was making himself quite at home, and getting into some mischief of his own. You’re not surprised are you?

DisneyTrip2010020.jpg

I'd be surprised if he wasn't getting into some mischief.

Tate, you go ahead and order anything from the menu that you'd like!

Oh my goodness, I'd totally forgotten about Lee Ann and the plane delay! I vividly recall checking for you, once she was in the air, to see what her options might be once she landed, to see if even making it that night was feasible.

It was really quite a roller coaster- and coninued right up until....

I totally remember texting/ calling with you too, and trying to figure out options for her. UGH! What a nightmare.

That's pretty funny about the bug.

You know how when you're in a terrible hurry to get on with getting somewhere, and you hit EVERY red light. yeah, it was kinda like that.

I have to say that your review of POP pretty much sums up how I think we'd feel and why we ended up not staying there. That's actually a lot of it- the "motel feel". I'm really glad our stay was limited to 3 nights. Much more than that, was NOT going to work for me. I agree, age has a lot to do with it. I guess I'm less tolerant of running in the echo-chamber halls yelling about how fun the pool is. I guess they call it "crotchety". :confused3 Double beds worked as this was a girls trip. I did want my own bed. HAHA!

I  your Poly view! I admit, I have a hard time with a deluxe with an exterior entry but that view is something else. No, the doors were inside, but had a patio with a sliding door to a patio. Interior halls. Is that what you mean?

Yeah, if you do get tropical vacays, then the Poly wouldn't be so "exotic". WL is not on my must-do for hte same reasons. Timberline, is just so close. For me, it's a lot about the theming for sure. And the coffee maker. ;)

I do believe it is a perfect place for a girls' trip...

2 credits on pizza is nuts. It's overpriced OOP but not to the tune of 2 credits!

It's absolutley stupid. Especially since it's made right there. They couldn't possibly put anymore ingredients into it than say a Papa Murphys... so I don't get it. :confused3

I appreciate your honest assessment of Pop Century. I've never stayed there, so am glad to hear the good and the bad.

Hope it was useful to whoever happens by. If I were in chose a resort mode, I'd certainly want an honest assessment as well. Better to know than play Resort Roulette!

I believe this story.

I"m not surprised.

And I believe this story. Actually, the last story makes this story even more believable.

See Above.

I'd be surprised if he wasn't getting into some mischief., you go ahead and order anything from the menu that you'd like! , you go ahead and order anything from the menu that you'd like!

Were you planning on the tab being sent to you?
;)

We may need to muddle that one over...

I hear you on WL, I found it quite odd that Jeff and Tay wanted to stay there so badly. There was a lot I did love about it though.

It's absolutley stupid. Especially since it's made right there. They couldn't possibly put anymore ingredients into it than say a Papa Murphys... so I don't get it. :confused3

Well it tastes better than Papa Murphy's, I can at least vouch for that. :rotfl:

I've heard many people share your opinions of the values, Liesa. I mean, who am I to completely shun an entire resort category, especially if it made an otherwise impossible trip possible, but it doesn't seem like such huge jump from there to a mod. The price different from a mod to a deluxe...well, that's another story. :lmao:

So happy for you that you finally got to stay at your dream resort..with a castle view no less! I am not the least bit ashamed to admit that I am thrilled to be staying at my first deluxe in July and I know that when I finally stay at the CR, I'll have tears in my eyes at check-in. :goodvibes

Muddling is great- I have a fair bit of time to do that...

No, it's not that I'm sure I wouldn't love it there (esp. if I did the rooftop tour with Ranger Joe(?)) , but it wouldn't be my first choice. I think I'd go EPCOT resort before that.

That's right, you know exactly how that pizza is! And the right wine to go with it. ;)

I cannot exactly put my feelings into words properly here. Just a different feel it altogether. Less relaxing, more things I didn't need to see on vacation.

It wasn't technically a castle view per se, but only a few steps out off our patio and voila- there it was in all its glory. Could not have been better!!

And not ashamed you should be, my dear!! You are going to LOVE IT!!! And I can't wait to hear your thoughts on that! And tears of a happy kind are best, aren't they???

The Poly looks beautiful. Oh, how I'd love to stay there one day. :goodvibes

I can't wait to hear how many people signed your "guest book."

SOPHIA!! I thought you'd disappeared onto the MIA list! I'm so glad you're back!

We got some very, very interesting ones, but I'm going to wait a while to show them, as it took all 11 nights to gather them. Maybe not til the end, but a while anyway.

I need to check out your siggie, now... I'll bet you have a TR or PTR going....

Believe it or not, we’re already on Day 4.

But first we had to bid a mediocre farewell to POP. Now, I feel in the performance of my Post Host duties, I must give a brief, but honest accounting of my opinion of POP.

Nothing wrong with speaking your mind. I'm just glad Disney gives us so many options on places to stay! (unless your family is more than 4 people ;))

I put the key into the ignition and it Would. Not. Start. No, back up… it would not even turn. Did the last 3.25% of my brain suddenly disappear at the POP?

Actually, it disappeared at DHS. See, you guys make fun of me for not liking ToT, but I'm just trying to keep all of your brains inside the vehicle at all times.

My idiot switch must have been shorted out that day, because it suddenly flipped on again.

Do you have any idea how to turn the Idiot Switch off? Not that I need this information, but...um...a friend could use it. Yeah, that's it. :rolleyes1

And I was also VERY impressed with our patio and its view. Take a look!

:cool1::banana::woohoo:

Awesome!

Really? You liked this better than POP? :rotfl2:

Meantime, back in the room, Tate was making himself quite at home, and getting into some mischief of his own. You’re not surprised are you?

Got the munchies again? Do you feed this guy at home?
