Best counter service at the Studios. Really open, usually not crowded and a decent menu and a great place to cool and refresh. Just wanted to share for those that don't know.

Agreed. I seem to remember a decent curry (by American standards) and also had a good hot breakfast there.

yeah, couldn't believe how empty it was for lunch last year, early Nov. which was a nice surprise.

Back in '06 my dad was with us for a fist time visit and had no clue what he wanted for lunch. The ladies at the counter was so sweet to take time to let him sample different things. That was a great Disney moment for us, I think that's why they took so much time with us because is wasn't crowded too.

Where is this located? We are tyring to decide on what to do for CS when we are there.

What kind of things are on the menu? (actually all the kids are pretty good eaters/not picky)

We ate there June of 08. We never eat at traditional times due to crowds and found it to be deserted, clean and a very nice spot from the heat/crowds.

Try the Cuban Sandwich, it's a change from the burger/fries route. My DH loved it.

I had the Chicken Curry and loved it.

Ds14 had the norm, burger/fries, and Ds4 had the standard fare of chicken nuggets/applesauce.

Take Care

I'm scared to try the curry there. After having British/Indian curry, American curry just seems like a watered down version that smells like it might be good but ends up tasteless. How does it compare to say, Patak's Balti?

Wow, they must have changed who runs the place. The last meal I had there was so nasty that I refused to eat there this past May. I went hungry instead, which should tell you how bad the food I had before was.

Sorry - I can't comment on the curry but do agree that this is a great CS spot. We ate there in May and found the service to be excellent, the food good and the cleanliness of a very high standard! :thumbsup2

Yup, we enjoyed it a lot as well the two times we went there last December. The Cuban sandwiches are a nice change, and as the OP pointed out, the atmosphere at the place is relaxing. We sat inside once, and outside once, and enjoyed both.

I am cautious in perceiving such a drastic turn about too, but then again its just CS food to begin with so everything is brought in ready to serve so all it takes is a new food vendor.

I am not sure--in all the years I've been on these boards--that I have ever read more than a couple of compliments toward ABC Commissary...:confused3

Most folks only seem to think the worst of the place!

We thought the ABC commissary was fairly gross when we have tried it.
I guess maybe we have hit it at bad times. Maybe we will try again after seeing a few supporters here. I think the best counter service is Wolfgang Puck Express at Downtown Marketplace.

Hmmmm......after eating at ABC Commissary in '06 we put it on our "never again" list. It was gross! Maybe it's changed:confused3 ?

we were there a year ago Nov. and found it to be good, just like every other CS in WDW. My point was to say it was clean, quiet and not crowded. Atmosphere outweighs a 5-star microwaveable hamburger for me over other 1st class places of the same ilk at DS. ;)

We ate there just two weeks ago on our last trip, and what surprised us the most was how much we REALLY enjoyed the hamburger there. It was a really good size, on a nice fresh sandwich roll (not a wheat roll, or regular burger roll). Fries were fresh and tasty.

Clean, uncrowded. We'd definitely go back.

We ate there last week and it quickly went on my "never again" list. The CMs were unhelpful and the trashcans were spilling over. Tables were a mess and I had to get napkins just to clean a table for our family. The food was uneatable and both my grandson and I threw ours away. They need more CS choices at the studios. We didn't eat at the backlot (as we sometimes do) because of the choices for the kids' menu. The commissary wasn't much better.
