AARP members

Does anybody know if aarp members get any discounts when purchasing plane tickets or renting cars? My mil is also turning 56 (senior citizen) and wants to know if she could get a discount when purchasing those things.

Some, but not all, airlines and car rentals offer either an AARP or just senior citizen discount. The ones that specifially offer AARP can be found on the AARP website.

On many of the booking engine, you just have to select the senior discount. I do this a lot for my parents. They've never been asked to show ID but they are 80 so no one questions that they are old enough.

When booking our hotel we got a much better rate based on AARP, but this may vary from hotel to hotel.
