aaargh... Delta cancelled our flight!

Our only 2 options are to fly out at 5 am (not exciting) or later but with 2 connections (even less exciting, especially when traveling with a 4 and 1 year old).

Anyone know if they ever make any concessions for inconveniencing us? Free drink coupons, headsets?? anything?? I am not happy about getting up at 3 am, especially since it's midnight back home.

Nope, no concessions. The best you can do is call them and tell them the options are not acceptable and perhaps they will refund your money.
With the cutbacks because of the war, many people are being shifted to other flights. This war is inconveniencing many people, including those who cannot go to WDW.

If the options they give you are not acceptable to you they have to give you a refund if you ask for it. Of course, that does you no good if you can't get a flight on another airline that suits your purpose and is not more expensive.

You could move your flight to another day if that opens up better options. They should do that without charge. Jet Blue cancelled one of our flights for our May trip. the option they gave me of an earlier flight the same day was not good for me. I was changed to a flight the next day.

Use the airline's web site to see if there are other flights that fit your schedule better and see if they are not sold out. In all fairness the airline should give you any flight of your choice that is not sold out, at no extra charge.

You will likely have to talk to customer service agents two or three levels higher up because the first person you talk to may not have the authority to rebook you and the first person might even be cheaper non-English speaking labor in a foreign country connected by fiberoptic or satellite phone lines.

If you don't get anywhere and time permist, write letters to persons high up in the airline's organization.

... change airports? AA did that for us once when they didn't have any decent times remaining at our airport; we chose to drive
90 minutes and take a flight from a different departure airport. I don't think that this is a really NORMAL thing for them to offer, but I would ask about it if you think it might be a viable option.

Wrong, it isn't this black and white.

Call them and explain politely what your concerns are and they can help you out. I had two Delta flights cancelled on me this year and they gave me 5000 miles for one and drink vouchers, free upgrade for another. I informed them that I was a valuable and repeat customer and would like to remain as such. No guaranteed but it isn't as impossible as some may lead you to believe.

Thanks for reminding me to check. My flight was cancelled on the way down as well. We're going to have to get up at 4:00am with two young children. Not good. I escalated one level and got nothing. Should I keep trying until I get someone who cares?
