I've been waiting, and now I'm STILL waiting! :rolleyes1

OK, so here are my options...

1 - Go ahead and book the outbound flight and book the return when it opens up (are there any reasons NOT to do this?).

2 - Wait to book both until all dates are open (but I'm aftaid I could lose a good flight time and/or price).

3 - Back up our vacation dates and go Saturday-Friday instead of Sunday-Saturday and book everything now.

Any suggestions? TIA!

I frequently book one way with Southwest and can't see any reason why you can't book the first part of your trip now. By doing so, if the price would happen to drop, you can always re-book at the cheaper price and use the credit when you can purcahse the return home part of your trip.

Personally, I wouldn't wait for your return date to open up if the flight times are what you are looking for and prices are good for the flight down.

I've had it happen a couple of times. One time I paniced and booked Airtran. Bad choice as when the SW flight did come out it was a lower price and the actually flight on Airtran ended up being delayed for a few hours due to plane problems...

Since then I just suck it up and wait then book the return flight later.

We're in the SAME exact boat! WE can get the Sun. 10/22, but can't get the Sat. 10/28 return. It's so frustrating. And what's worse, the outbound flights are NOT a great price ($124 one-way from Providence -- I've NEVER paid that much!), so it makes it even more difficult to know if we should wait. But, because I would hate to lose the 10:05 non-stop -- and as dthogue said if they go down you can rebook and use the credit for the difference toward the return flight -- I think I'm going to wind up buying them today. BTW, I just checked Delta and JetBlue, and both have one-ways that are even higher than $124, so maybe I'm getting a bargain and don't even know it! :confused3

I went ahead and booked the flight down today (10/18) and will keep watching for the 28th to open up. I paid $89 from BWI.

Does anyone know if you can still get boarding passes online on a one-way flight? When my return date opens, do I book another one way or connect to my first already booked flight? Am I more likely to be pulled aside on a one way on SW? I was on delta; they said a one way flight is a red flag and they check all one way passengers.
And most important :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc when do you think SW will open more dates?
Thanks!

I don't know if they flag all one way travellers, but I bought two sets of one way tickets for a flight a couple of years ago and we got flagged.

Yes, you can still get boarding passes online on a one way flight. Book your return flight when the dates open. You will have two different reservation numbers. Use the appropriate reservations number to get your boarding passes. We have been doing one way flights for the past couple of years and haven't been flagged yet. If you can get a better price for the one way ticket you bought now you can use that credit to help pay for the return flight. Last year when we booked our December vacation, they opened the flights up on July 15.
