AAA w/DDP vs AP discount, I'm stuck!

Ok, I'm going nuts because I came up with "plan B" because there is great potential for me to move back home and get rid of my apartment for 8 months while I finish graduate school. This means an additional $400 or so into my pocket a month (after paying for storage) and I don't have to pay for food :cool1:

So to thank DBF, I am considering upgrading us as a surprise to a deluxe for his first trip in Jan 08 (we settled on POFQ). It would be an additional $370 or so (with the AAA discount) and I could swing that "easily" with the sudden increase in pocket money.

So original plan: AAA w/DDP at AKL or WL for 6 nights, got the complete budget figured out

Now I'm thinking: hmmmmm how cool would it be to get an AP and take a second trip (solo) after graduation as a present to myself. Potentially cheap flights out of NY, have no issue with a value resort, I can feed myself for $30 or less a day, and park pass will already be in hand (3 nights with 5 days in the parks for potentially less than $500).

I plug our original food prices in with the additional cost of the DDE card and the potential $80 discount in room rate at WL/AKL and it comes out to be $13 more expensive than the above AAA w/DDP plan

This means that food isn't paid for before the trip and I didn't take into account snacks so it's more skewed towards the DDP but what should I do????? Any suggestions? Ideas? Am I just making myself nuts and spending money that I really dont have? or is this an opportunity that I should grab because I'm only young once and I've worked my butt off for way too long for this achievement (finishing grad school)... :rotfl:

Having finished grad school once myself (once is ENOUGH) take your graduation trip! Once you start working, you won't get so much vacation time ever again.
