I went on the WDW website and got a rate of $1691.44 for 3 night at POFQ (5/19-5/22) for 2 adults, 1 -13yo, and 1- 7yo with 4 day base tickets and the meal plan. I called AAA and got a rate of $1613.62 for the same package. If you do the math that comes up to only around a 4 1/2pct. savings. Does that seem right? The agent even said that it is "Disney month" and they have some great deals! Saving less than $80 doesn't seem like that great of a deal to me.

That sounds about right. You only get a discount on the room portion of your package. The meal plan and the tickets are not discounted. Since you are going during the regular season, the room discount is 15%.

Here's the breakdown:

$155 (Rack Rate) less $23.25 (15% off) = $131.75 plus tax (11.5%) = $146.90
$146.90 x 3 Nights = $440.70

compared to....

$155 (Rack Rate) plus tax (11.5%) = $172.83
$172.83 x 3 Nights = $518.49

Gives you....
Total Savings = $77.79

AAA is currently the only discount for packages in May 2006 as of now. Unless, Disney releases some kind of discount, that will be your cheapest option for a package.

Speed :teleport:

My quote through AAA had a similar savings (I think only $35!! unless she included the tax and the WDW site didn't?) which I found underwhelming, but I found that my TA put in the insurance for my and my DH so that is $59.95 each according to her. Maybe she quoted you with the insurance included.

I did a room-only reservation today at POR for 7 nights in August. The price on the web-site was $1209.88 ($172.84/night). I booked through Disney with the AAA discount for $1022 ($146.07/night). That appears to be about a 15% savings.

I didn't realize that only the room portion was discounted. That is why it seemed like such a small savings. Thanks sppedyf for doing the math :flower3:
If only a code would come out......

I had much better luck with my AAA rate.

AAA quoted me $3314.42 for the Polynesian garden view October 2-8th. This included 7 day park hopper plus passes and the dining plan for two adults and two children under 10.

Dreams Unlimited quoted the same package at $3746.26 so for us it is a savings of 431.84. :cool1:

I'm not really sure how they figure the discounts. Last April when we stayed at the WL the AAA savings was minimal and we went with DU for the convenience.
