AAA parking pass grovel......

We got them for free from our local CAA office as we are members, they are great
Whether you can get them for free as an AAA member depends on the local office.
Some give them out to any member who asks. Some give them out to any member who buys tickets and others only give them out when a whole package is bought thru AAA by a member.

Next trip I am going to use somebody else's AAA pass.

And their handicap placard.

But I won't use it all the time, because when I go to MK, I'll just park in the Contemporary lot.

And I'm going to use their annual pass, too.

Oh, and rent a scooter.

And put my 8 year old in a stroller.

And pool hop.

And bring my reusable mug from last year.

And line jump.

Don't forget to bring your 4 year old nephew, you can just say he is 2 and big for his age, they don't check :rotfl:

Neal -- If I had one - I'd give it to you!
you should look on Ebay...

And don't let these folks on this board bring you down..... all you did was ask and you shouldn't get raked over the coals for it.

Take care and I hope it works out for you!
:)

Thanks for your support.

I haven't been to Disney or these boards in two years. The last time I went I had no problem getting a pass from someone here, and of course I paid it forward.

Two years ago when I used to frequent these boards the preachiness and righteousness were in check. Now it seems it is out of control.

Asked and answered. It is wrong and shouldn't be done. Again, there are people who have spent money and are entitled to those spaces when available and are not able to use them because someone who is not entitled to them is parking there illegally. I don't see how anyone could reasonably think that is okay.

anyone who knows the rules and would still give them to another is just as bad and should be ashamed. I know, I know if your special you should get special treatment.

I feel your pain...
I have been a member of this board for about 6 years and check in whenever we are planning a trip.

So.... I have been an Annual Pass Holder for 8 years.
My brother is planning a Disney trip and was offered his wife's sister's AP (four of them). I wasn't sure what to tell him... it never occurred to me to lend or share ours. Well, I posted this question and you would have thought that I asked if raping and pillaging was OK.

Again - best of luck...!

It may not be morally right, but it is not illegal. You won't be arrested and charged with something just because you use this pass.

Let's not make this into the crime of the century, because it isn't. I've seen the number of diamond spaces available, and it isn't very many. It is highly likely that the spaces would be gone even with legitimate use only. Far more passes are issued than there are spaces available. Period.

It is certainatley not an arrestable offense, and I stated in a previous post that when the spaces are used up I park elsewhere and don't sweat it. But it is just as illegal as parking in a loading zone or handicapped space when you are not entitled to. This is usually referred to as parking illegally. Also if you take something that you are clearly not entitled to, because they are included in a purchase or require a purchase to obtain, you are committing an illegal act. Just because you are not likely to be held accountable does not change the fact. some people are comfortable with doing these things. I frown upon such behavior.

Whether or not it's illegal and arrestable is besides the point. There are many things in life we technically COULD do but really SHOULDN'T. This is one of them. Why should someone who's not a AAA member and didn't book their package through AAA be able to use the pass? It's a perk.

Also, when we got our travel documents a few weeks ago, the parking pass does now have our names printed and our dates of travel. Hopefully using this to deter this type of activity.

We've had pretty good luck with the pass. We go in the off season. Epcot and AK have gotten us the best spots. I don't think there's ever been a time when we haven't found a space due to them all being taken. Another reason for tightening this up - if more and more people are using these passes dishonestly, that is going to take away spaces for those who really are entitled to them.

well, here's the problem. those of us who pay the approx. $55 per year to join AAA would like to know that the diamond parking lot is NOT full, esp. with those who did NOT pay.

I know it sounds all "fuzzy wuzzy" to "pay it forward" and all. and I don't really give a rat's ... if I pay for something, and someone else gets "pixie dust" and doesn't. great luck for them!!!.

but if it keeps someone who DID actually PAY for it from getting the benefits (or has them parking a half block or a block further, with granny in a wheelchair.. the entire reason they PAID for the AAA benefits).. then.. it no longer fits into the "Pay it forward" category.

it more fits into the
I'm going to "scarf" what I can, and then pass on the "savings" to whomever wants to "scarf" what they can without paying. and we will all laugh at the idiots who actually PAID for those priviledges.

I agree with you. And that sad thing is, there is more and more of that on these boards. And if you dare say anything, they try and make you the bad guy! Please!:sad2:

There is a huge difference between money saving tips and ways to cheat and save money. I suggest people who want to do the latter start their own boards, because it is against the rules to post how to cheat your way to a Disney vacation on this one.

I don't think it's a case of us 'bringing you down'..it's a case of someone asking a question and not liking the answer they get. It says right on the AAA parking pass that they are not for sale, and are not transferrable. What is so hard to understand about that??? Same thing goes for APs...the name of the person using it is on the back of the pass..they use it, no one else..pretty simple to understand.

What is going on is a group of individuals who want to get as much as they possibly can, without being entitled to something. There will always be those who feel that they have 'paid enough' and should get as many perks as possible, even if they are not even close to being qualified for those perks.
We see it all the time....self parking at CR or BW so as to get into the parks more easily without paying to park, or to avoid the departing crowds. Those who stay past parking closing in order be there for hard ticketed parties. Those who try to stuff as many people in a room as possible even though they are 3 people over capacity and then try to access EMHs. The list goes on and on.
The sense of entitlement is incredible. It's almost as if people are saying...'hey,if I can get away with it, then it's fine to do'. And that's just sad. And of course, there are those who feel that we are bashing you or flaming you. Everyone can find a valid (to them) 'reason' to get around policies. But that doesn't mean you should.

FWIW, we used our AAA Diamond pass in 2008. It did not have our names, dates or any identifiable info. Furthermore, no one at WDW ever checked it. All we did was hold it up while driving and they pointed where to go.

With that being said, it was great at DHS, so so at AK, MK you have to go thru transp center, Epcot was not so hot.

So in the end, it's a lot of hullabaloo about nothing in my book.

I don't know about now but when I worked at AAA, they used to have a stack of them in the drawer. If you go to your local club (and you're a member), they should be able to give you. Some clubs policies may differ - they may only give it to you if you book through them or buy tix from them.

In the interest of being a good Transportation moderator...I'm going to my AAA office and see if I can get a parking pass..yes, I am a member. Then, on my trip this April, I'm going to be renting a car, so will be able to see what is looked for as far as using the AAA pass. Of course, I'm not buying any passes or packages from them, so who knows if they'll let me have one. But, I'll give it a shot and then be able to report back.
