AAA Discount question

I looked at Mousesavers.com and didn't see anything specific about the AAA discounts for room only. I just saw where it said the discount was typically 10-20%. I searched all over the AAA site and could not find anything specific either. Can someone point me in the right direction to find just exactly what the rate would be with a AAA membership? Thanks a bunch.

Your discount will depend on when you are traveling to Disney. I am going in value season (Feb 04) and I got a 20% discount. Others have posted that in regular and peak season the discount is only 10%. Buy hey, 10% is better than nothing and every little bit helps. Hope this helps and answers your question.

Call CRO directly and ask if there is AAA rate for the resort and the time frame that you want. AAA discount rates are in the system now through 2004. They will ask you for your membership number. I have a AAA rate for POR for Jan. 2004. Will be watching for AP rates though!

Deluxe and Home Away from Home Resorts -

10% off during Regular Season
10% off during Peak Season

Moderate and Value Resorts -

15% off during Regular Season
15% off during Peak Season

Other -
Swan and Dolphin:
20% off during Value Season
10% off during Regular Season
10% off during Peak Season

Fort Wilderness:
20% off during Value Season

Down Town Disney Hotels:

I have AAA ressies (hopefully temporary until code or AP rates come out) for Sept 2003 at WL and it came out to about $10 off a night from the rack rate.

I booked CBR in Sept with AAA and it came out to about 25% off rack rates for that time. I was pleased.

Freiden8 - I called CRO to get pricing on the Poly for July 2004. There are no discounts at this time for next year. I told the CM I am a AAA member and asked if they were discounts for when I am traveling. She said "no". Do you have to book though AAA, or should CRO honer the discounts listed in the AAA booklet?

Yes, you DO have to book through AAA... Hop over to your local office, check out the booklet! :D

No, you do not have to book through AAA to get the discount. The discounts that have been given on this thread from the WDW book from AAA is for the package plans they offer. However, do not let that fool you. You can book room only through Disney and when AAA discounts come out call Disney back to add the discount. This is what I have done. I am going in Feb 04, booked at POR at rack rate of 160.00 (prices were not out when I first booked). AAA rates came out a couple weeks ago, I called back to Disney to get the new rate and it was changed and a new conformation was sent to me. I got a 20% discount. Keep in mind that this is for ROOM ONLY, not a package. If you are still unsure, just call Disney and ask. But again, you do not have to book a package with AAA to get a AAA discount.

They have two types of membership the "regular" type is $44 and the "plus" membership is $66. Those may be renewal rates, you may want to contact your local AAA office for rates. Keep in mind that AAA cards are good for more than just hotel discounts. Mine has paid for itself many times over. Hope this helps.

Madi-

I got an offer in the mail today that says $49 for the primary person and that they would waive any set up fee and add a second person for free the first year. I think I'm going to do it too...not to shabby and will most likely pay for itself... hubby2b keeps the local towing co's in business pretty much by himself;)

From the info on Mousesavers.com it's my understanding room only ressies can be booked from CRO, but packages have to be done via AAA.

First off membership rates obviously vary depending on where you live...mine is a govt discount rate and its 89/yr for AAA plus...but anyway, as to room only rates for 2004, I was qouted rates through cro for Jan 2004 for all value resorts, 69/night for standard room, 78 for upgraded room. POFQ standard was 119/night. CBR was also 119/night, those were the only 2 moderates available. In the deluxe they had AKL Savanah w/ 2 queens at 261/night and WL woods view standard at 189/night. Keep in mind these are for value season rates, but that should give you an idead what 2004 room only AAA discounts are running.

POFQ will be open then? Awesome! I wanted to stop by there in my Feb trip but was worried it would still be closed for refurb.

For our November stay (value season) at WL, we're paying $237/night for a courtyard view w/king bed. That's the AAA rate with taxes. The rack rate quoted to us was $284 with taxes. I called CRO for a room-only reservation, gave them my AAA membership number, and was able to book the AAA discount.

I know when I called about a week or so ago to check out the DC & AAA rates for Pop Century for 12/18-12/23 the rates were exactly the same. I also got the same pricing for the Poly but the CR was actually cheaper with AAA which floored me because last year the prices also matched.

What's nice about the AAA rate is is that you have to give only 1 nights deposit and the balance at check in and have 5 days prior to cancel.

You can go to the AAA web site aaa.com to see the rates they have. They currently have rates through April 2004. It does not show the % discount, but you can then compare it to the rate at disney.com. Amazingly, they did not always have the best AAA dscount. I got a better AAA discount at the Swan by going through SPG.com than I was offered at AAA. But for the Disney hotels themselves, I was offered the same discount through aaa that I got by calling CRO.
