a woman tried to steal my daughters fan today

Once about 14 years ago at Busch Gardens my then 8 yr. old daughter left her bright pink 110 Camera in one of the restrooms. We went back and it was gone. On the way out of the park we stopped at Guest Relations, explained what had happened and gave them our name & address, along with a description of the camera. We really didn't think we would see the camera again but about 3 weeks later it showed up in the mail, compliments of Busch Gardens and the lovely person who turned it into lost & found.
Someone mentioned earlier in the thread about people not holding doors...my daughter & I were at a trade show about 6 years ago. It was evening and people were taking craft classes...quite a few all headed to the restroom at once to rinse brushes, etc...my daughter stood and held the door for all these woman...most were polite and said thank you but one didn't...just ignored my daughter and walked on through...my daughter politely said to her...'Your welcome!' I had to chuckle.
It is such an easy thing to do...simple words...'Thank you'...'Your welcome', it's amazing how many people don't know them. Even a simple smile. I like to think there are more who do than don't. =0)

One of my pet peeves while I was there last week was when we went into a show and the CM's told people to move all the way down to the last seat in the row so everyone could get in. Alot of people didnt do that

I was just going to post the same thing! It is one of my pet peeves too! What is so hard about "Pick a row and move all the way to the end"??

I have to say that in my 2 trips to WDW I really never encountered any terrible rudeness (I grew up and lived in Brooklyn, NY until age 32, so I've seen alot;) ).

Well, Last October while we were in EPCOT enjoying the F&W Festival, I left our video camera on a bench. We went back after 5 minutes, but it was gone. We immediately walked all the way back to the Lost & Found, which took another 10 minutes. The camera was not there but the CM we spoke to said to give it time, someone nice might turn it in within the next few hours, and that often if a CM finds it, (s)he waits until end of shift or break to turn it in. Well, the next few hours were terrible, I couldn't help but cry on and off, because the camera could be replaced, but this was our 1st trip to WDW with our DD (3 1/2 years old)! I really just wanted that tape back. Long story short, 3 hours later we went back and I waited outside while DH went in (couldn't bear any bad news in front of a line of people). When I saw DH turn and give me thumbs up, I just started to cry and my DD was quite confused! I was so relieved!

Thank you to whomever that kind soul was who turned our camera in - that video and those memories are priceless to us!

That's disgusting. At least you go the fan back.

Last August we were waiting for the monorail on the resort side at the magic Kingdom and about 15 people in front of us a fight broke out. A FIGHT!!! I couldn't believe it. There was a Japanese man and his young family who was being harassed by a large unruly North American man (couldn't figure out by the voice where he was from). The large man was screaming racial obscenities. The CM's looked stunned. They had to get between them. I have no idea how it started because all of a sudden the large guy just started yelling and throwing punches. The japanese man's family (young kids) looked terrified. It appeared the Japanese man was trying to keep the other guy from his family but I don't really know. I don't recall what happened after the CM stepped in as I was trying to keep my DD 2 1/2 from seeing.

Outrageous.

Thats horrible!! IF that man was so prejudiced (sp) then he shouldnt vacation somewhere where there are people of every color and nationality. Maybe he should just lock himself in his house and never come out.

Usualy they take a look at 6'4 DH and keep moving.

Hehe, my husband is a wrestler. Sorry won't mention names. But he also is 6'4" and 235lbs of muscle, so very few will push him. LOL

Are you talking about me? ;) I found a water-wallet thingie once, and as I was heading to L&F with it, a man stopped me and told me it was his. I asked him to describe the contents, he did perfectly and I handed it over. In this word, there was no guarantee that it was really his because he said so -- he could have just seen a CM with a water-wallet and was trying to rip someone off. We just like to be sure. :)

Wow! What rude people there are...I have a good story though to share...

While at Dis Con in December, we were at Magic Kingdom one afternoon and DH had mistakenly put the camera down on a condiments bar to put Ketchup on a hot dog...well, he walked away and about 5 minutes later we realized that the camera was gone! This camera is very expensive, but what we really were upset about was the memory card with all our Dis Con pictures we had taken that day! DH and I asked a few CM's if they had seen it (the vendors we bought food from) but no one had seen it...There was a CM empting the trash who overheard us and told us he would go through that garbage to see if it had fallen in...I didn't think it did as we were far from the trash can, but at that point, I was hopeful...Anyway, the CM came back from "Behind the scenes" and said it wasn't there, but to check City Hall because maybe someone had turned it in...I was crushed as I knew it wouldn't be there! As we ventured over to City Hall, DH was way ahead of us and got there before us and low and behold he walked out holding our precious memories! I couldn't believe it! He said a guest had seen the camera sitting near the condiments bar on his way out and turned it into City Hall! The guest didn't leave his name or anything and I wish he/she had so we could thank them...I was so incredibly happy to have my camera back and very lucky that it was turned in!

I just wish I could have thanked the person who was honest enough to bring it to Lost and Found...DH and I were all set to buy them dinner anywhere they wanted to go at Disney!:)

Beanie certainly was lucky to have found her camera.

Once, I did lose my prescription sunglasses on our first day. They fell off one of those strings you use to hang them off your neck. I went to lost and found, but to no avail. (there were tons of glasses there!!).

I like to think that someone accidently stepped on them and that's why they were never turned in. No one could really wear them unless they had the same prescription as me.

Well this wasn't at WDW but heres what happened to us today. We were at Six Flags today and had our FRS radios with us. We went to see the diving show and when DH sat down he sat the radio next to him. We got about 15 ft away from the entrance when he realized he didn't pick it up. It was gone. When we caught up with DS we used his radio and contacted the person who took the radio. She (voice sounded like a grown woman) admitted to picking it up but when we asked her to return it she just kept hitting the call button so it would make that loud beeping sound. We asked her serveral time th turn it into lost and found but it was not turned in.

I left my camera sitting on a bench at Sea World in California last year and in a manner of minutes it was in Lost & Found. I was so relieved!

Hehe, my husband is a wrestler. Sorry won't mention names. But he also is 6'4" and 235lbs of muscle, so very few will push him. LOL
Hmmm.... Thanks to DS, I know a few names of well known wrestlers from NC. It's fun to conjecture LOL.

I was on the PeopleMover with two friends, relaxing (no line) and we stayed on a couple trips around. When we got back to the front, a CM was checking every car -- for a wedding ring. We came back around and they still hadn't found it. Honestly, I really hope the guy just lost it and it couldn't be found, because I can't imagine someone just TAKING a wedding ring!!

I lost my wedding ring in the local Wal-Mart. As soon as I realized, I called them. No sign of it. Next time I was there we even checked the isle where I thought I may have lost it, no sign of it. I kept checking back for over a week or so. The last time I went into check, they had it. It had been turned in, all I had to do was describe it. =0)
I was tickled pink!

Don't you think it would be best to just give anything you find to the nearest CM? I would worry that if the owner saw me bringing it to L&F they would think I took it.

This wasn't at WDW but I once left my purse at a Wal-Mart in Georgia while visiting friends. I didn't even realize it until the next day. On the drive from Lakeland, where we were staying to Valdosta, where the store was I kept going over the things in my purse and wallet trying to remember how much money I had and thanking God I didn't have a credt card yet.
Some nice person turned it into the lost and found and nothing had been touched. I think I had about 5 or 10 dollars that was still there along with my debit card.

And once in my local Wal-Mart my brother and I noticed a purse and a set of keys that had been left in a shopping cart. At first I thought I'd turn them in to the lost and found but I didn't want to be seen carrying someone elses belongings. So we just found the nearest person who worked there and let her take care of it.

Our last trip to the world, while it was fantastic, we encountered quite a few rude people. Everything from pushing and shoving to the front of lines to people screaming over the radios. More than one occasion we had people who kept interrupting our transmission so I couldn't hear what my dh was saying, we had a hard time communicating. Once their were people fighting over it and trying to figure out where they were in the parks to confront them. Ridiculous. BUT I have a great incident of Lost and Found. My dd realized at the end of the day she had left her backpack somewhere. We couldn't even remember the last time she had it. We re-checked our room, checked with guest services at the resort, nothing. The cm's were sympathetic and suggested she fill out the lost article form. The contents consisted of shiny pennies, pressed pennies, autograph book, disposable camera. Nothing of great value to anyone over the age of 12.
Less than a week after arriving home, a package was delivered, the backpack. I was floored!

This has turned out to be an interesting post.

I think it may be wise to put our names and the hotel we are staying at on our fanny packs and our mister sprayers!! :D :D

Just in case........

I cannot believe some people. Stealing a childs fan.

I had items stolen as a child from a good friend. So ever since then I have had an obsession with my possesions. Basically, I need to be responsible for everyone's stuff. So on our trip I will more or likely be the one carrying everything - from the fans to the camera's to the fanny packs.

Thanks for the reminder - I need to get a big bag to carry all the stuff.

It's rteally sad that people will do such really STUPID things... I mean, 99% of the time, their gonna get caught if they try & take something. I guess they just think "Hey, it's WDW /DL, and I can get away with it." Every time I go, I have everything hanging on me.... sometimes I feel like all I am is a walking pile of cords & straps with eyes & tennis shoes!
