a woman tried to steal my daughters fan today

Just this past weekend we were standing in line for the monorail after the park had closed and this couple and their pre-teen child were squishing past everyone to get to the front of the long line. Literally moving people out of the way to get ahead. I probably wouldn't have said anything- thinking they were with other people or something- but my hubby said to them- "Where are you going?" ...and are you ready?

The Dad YELLS back in this thick NY accent... "In front of you(z) people who are so stupid to wait in line"... just like that! It was one of the rudest things I have ever seen... he's lucky he wasn't lynched by all the people he cut in front of... If I were closer to a cast member I would have brought it to their attention... it was just unbelievable.

Of course it didn't matter- we all got on the same monorail in the end- but it sure made a lot of people very uncomfortable in the process. Not the way you want to end your day.

A midwesterner was in front of us & he turned around with his mouth open and said it was the rudest thing he'd ever heard...

Not before I get totally flamed I am not trying to say that everyone from NY would do that- I've been to the parks lots of times & never had something happen like that before...

 What nerve!!!  I am shocked when people "steal" a stroller, but to steal someone's fan:eek:  I think I would have called security. I am in shock!!

I remember when they used to show the pictures taken of you as you went in to park. (Before digital cameras). When we were looking at them and decided to buy the castmember said that up to 40% of people just walk out with them and don't pay.

Also have been in the nice jewellry bit in the big DTD store when some stole the little gold and crystal charms, like tink tigger etc. They just grabbed the whole tray of them.

It really infuriates me.

Oh boy! That man would have been dragged by the back of his shirt to the end of the line if DH heard that. I am glad no one has ever said anything thing like that to him or we would probably be kicked out because of his reaction:) We are pretty polite but if we see things like that feel we need to speak up. Usualy they take a look at 6'4 DH and keep moving.

It's pretty cruddy to do someone, but everyone makes mistakes. It's good you got it back though. I don't think having someones passes taken away is appropriate for that offense.

It goes to show, you have to really watch your stuff. Disney is no different than any other place when it comes to that.

As for the line jumper...I would've had a hard time restraining myself from going off on that guy as well.

Behavior described in the original post was disgusting.
But then, the first time I looked at the thread, I thought it said "a woman tried to steal my daughters today".

Really need to use my reading glasses when I'm on the computer.

You are too nice, I would have definitely gotten security involved. As far as the guy with the NY accent. Believe it or not, he didn't think it was wrong at all. We lived briefly in LI and I would commute into the city and wait for the LIRR and people would just push and shove to be the first one on the train- I grew up in NJ waiting on a line for the bus- so I was not happy being pushed around so early in the morning and in the evening after a hard day of work. We moved back to NJ!!!

PS- I am not saying all LI people behave this way, but I seemed to be the only one bothered by this...............

This thread is depressing. Some people just stink! LOL. But Im here to add a little brightness, too. My DD had lost her lanyard....with her pins when she was 5. ( she loved that thing)... Crying I told her we could check lost and found.... The CM asked her to name a pin on it, and sure enough it was there. The smile on her face was priceless.. Thank you whoever did that!

A couple of years ago DD took off her fanny pack and put it on the door hook while she used the restroom. She forgot to grab it when she was done. We didn't realize until about 5 minutes later. We ran back to the restroom, but if was gone. We went to security/lost & found, but it was not there. We filled out a report just in case someone turned it in. We never heard anything.

DD was so crushed by the incident. Not only did she lose $50.00 in Disney Dollars, but she lost her camera. The camera was what she was most upset about because she lost all of the pictures that she had taken the day before at the AK.

She couldn't believe that somebody would steal at a family vacation spot. It was a rude awakening for her to learn that there are dishonest people everywhere. Fortunately, they are in the minority!

My 8 year old daughter left her Power Puff girls wallet in the arcade at Carribbean beach last year and although the wallet was turned in to the resort lost and found her money ($10 - $15) was not in it.

That always upset me .... how can you take money out of a wallet that was sooooo obviously a little girl's!!!!

Rotten kids I think?

My daughter learned a hard lesson that day.

I understand this completely, while at AK last week my son left his visor on a bench. We weren't gone 2 minutes when I got back to the bench a man had my sons visor stuffed in his hat!!! I literally had to pull it out-no apologies no nothing. I could not believe it.

Just last week someone stole my daughter's fan out of our stroller. We didn't realize it right away but she was quite sad. How do you explain to a 4 year-old how mean people can be? We bought her another one but kept close eye on it after that.

"rotten kids"?? Sounds like age descrimination. Won't those kids someday be rotten adults?

I have plenty of nice people stories at WDW and I definitly provide plenty of nice moments for others while I'm there. I love to do good deeds for others! Anytime I see people looking confused espically if they have a map in thier had I always ask if I can help (it drives my wife nuts) I still consider myself a "kid" at 29 but I love do all the old fashion things holding doors, giving up seats, allowing others to be seated and served before myself etc... Being at WDW make this very easy to do good deeds, everyone is aproachable. There's always someone to offer help to. "would you like me to take a picture so you can be in it too" ( I swear I took 15 picture of other peoples families on our last trip) And maps. Everybody has a map and they are looking at it and each person is pointing 2 different directions. It takes 15 seconds " Can I help you find something" People love it.

But since we are in one of those nasty people threads(especilly since someone mentioned the cutting in line at the monorail, let me tell this story once again...

I will try to tell the short version...

It was our first night there and the fireworks were over at them MK and everyone was filing up the ramp to the monorail. This happened along side of us.

I'll pick up the conversation here.

MOM:"just get up there"
DAD(with a 4 to 5 y/o on his shoulders):"I can't, theres a little girl there" (she looked about 5 or 6)
MOM: "Just push her out of the way!"
DAD: " I'm not not going to push down a little girl"
MOM: " I didn't say push her down, I said push her out of the way, HERE, LET ME SHOW YOU!" (and she started to scoot past the dad to get behind the little girl)

At this point my wife looked back at me again (we had already glanced at each othe a couple of times while listening to there conversation with "did you hear that one" looks(they were very loud, very rude people) and I steered my stroller to the right, into the small gap that was created when the mom was stopping the dad to get past him. I then stayed there while my wife caught up to me and we then walked side by side , creating a gap between the B**** behind us and the little girl in front of us, who was completly oblivious to the whole thing.

it utterly amazes me how some people can be so rude - even in day to day life.

for example - today, I was walking out to top level of our parking garage so I could have a smoke (I do NOT smoke at the front door to the building like others do - no one else needs to walk through that - so I go to the top floor of the parking garage - no biggie.)

Anyway - I'm TWO STEPS behind this person walking in front of me, we get to a door, she opens it and lets it fall closed behind her.

ooookay...

even if soemone is TEN steps behind me, I hold the door for them - common curtesy...I'll never understand how some people were not taught that in life...

Personaly what FI and I dislike about somethings at disney is when you are at a "movie" liek ITTBAB or HISTA...or muppet vision...when the doors open - it's a STAMPEDE to get in...FI and I usually hang back and take our time...no need to trample over a little child or separate a family just to get in our seats 5 seconds faster...

I love that one at the theaters too. They push and shove to be first, meanwhile I move with the flow and keep my family together and we end up in the best seats while those "me first" people get seated all the way accross the theater.

I'm a person that believe that if you do good thing, good comes back to you...
on a trip to Disney I found a camcorder Batties pack that someone dropped the first thing I thought of that this person will not be able to use their camcorder.. how awful.. I went to lost and found and turned it in first thing.
Well it was about 5 years later and last Oct my son losted his Wallet at the Halloween party because it started to rain and we all were running. he notice before we left the park..
and you know what as soon as we got back to All Stars Music we had a phone call from someone staying off the park that his wife found my son's Wallet, and could we meet him at Walmart rt.192
They were from New York and a blessing to us..They were leaving in the morning and his wife wanted to do last min. shopping.
My son was very lucky, he had about $70 in cash and his park hopper..
and you know what they wouldnt take any thing from us.
So do good things for others and good will come back to you..

I once lost a $3000 travel reimbursement check (before I endorsed it, thank God.) Two days later, I got a call at work from some guy who offered to give it back to me if I gave him half the money! He even had the gall to get angry when he found out that my company had already put a stop-payment on the check.

I left my Camera in the bathroom near Space Mountain. Didn't notice it, untill about 15 min later. RAN all the WAY back to that bathroom, from Fantasyland, and found a CM with the Camera hooked on her belt. I said to her: "I believe that is my camera." She said: "Can you describe it to me?" And I said: "Yes, it is a Minolta and it has about 60.00 in the side zipper pocket." She handed it over, and I said:" Thank you very much." She explained to me, that, after her shift she was going to turn it into the Lost and Found. I thanked her again, and exited the Bathroom.:o

First let me say that I am an original New Yorker (from Long Island) and we are all not rude like that man was. alot of people say that New Yorkers are very rude but I dont think so, I think they are just paranoid. It just not normal everyday behavior to walk up to someone on the street and start talking to a stranger. I think most NYers would be nervous that this person is going to mug them and they become "stand-offish" and its mistaken for rudeness. All my family ( except my parents) still live in Long Island and I go back at least every 2 yrs to visit and I never considered anyone in my family rude. Although.... I did make an OPPs at DTD.

We came around the corner and our bus to our resort was there and we were all running to catch it. My dad stopped and I said " go, go, go" thinking it was leaving without us. I didnt realize that there was a line of people standing there and one lady said "the bus driver doesnt want us to get on yet". I just said "oh". got very embarressed and went to the end of the line. The bus driver was helping someone in a wheelchair off the bus and I didnt even see him doing it and thought the bus was leaving. I was very embarressed. But at least I went to the end of the line.

When we were there last week, my 2 DD;s had change purses with string that went around their necks so they didnt put them down and lose them. their water bottles with fans were over their shoulders, they hardly ever took them off but if they did either me or one of my parents held them. We never put anything down.

One of my pet peeves while I was there last week was when we went into a show and the CM's told people to move all the way down to the last seat in the row so everyone could get in. Alot of people didnt do that. My dad said "some people just dont follow directions do they?" I guess we were lucky to not encounter to many rude people there. My dad offered several times to take pictures for other people and they in turn took our pictures. we often let smaller children stand in front of us at parades so they could see better.
