A Wish for Keira, our Pre Trip Report

Yep, it was me. I was just saying we're also in Michigan, down south of Ann Arbor. I posted in your Pre Trip Report too, I was wondering how long it took after you go the "You've been medically approved" letter for your Wish Child did it take to actually get dates for disney?

Our Wish Volunteer called last night to get our first interview all set up, but Keira has to have surgery on Wednesday to have her tumor removed, and we'll have about a 7 day stay. He said to call after we get home & we'll go from there.

I asked about how long it was taking for dates, and he said that January, February or March would totally be do able, and we were hoping for late February/March.

I can't wait for her to do this awesome trip, and if we go when we want, our son will be turning 4 that week. Awesome time for both of them.

One thing I can think of is that if a Character meal or a special party is part of the wish, make sure you ask from the beginning! They may not be able to do something like that (chapters differ) but, it cant hurt to ask!

Im in! Keira is so cute. Are those your scrapbook pages? They are amazing and your handwriting is soo nice!

Hey! I think the money is different with each chapter so it's hard to say. We are planning to eat Breakfast and Dinner at GKTW and hopefully the money will cover lunch at the parks. I know they usually allow some money for souvineers too! I would save a little just for backup!

I spoke with our wish manager today and he is giving us a debit card with the funds on it, but some chapters give you a check to be deposited in your acct prior to going on the trip.

From the Trip Reports I've read, it seems people have more than enough money to do a character meal and eat at the parks.

Our experience from our nephew's trip was that they got a debit card to cover some expenses, they knew how much was on it so they could budget for food and souviniers. They did provide with a rental van, and a car seat for his little sister. Better to save and then not need it, right?

Keira's surgery went well! She's tumor free now, still have 4 rounds of chemo to finish up, she came home from the hospital yesterday, a whole 2 days early.

Our Wish Volunteers are coming on Sunday afternoon for our first meeting!

What should I expect? Is this when she makes her wish?

Oh boy, that should be a fun meeting!!! I wasnt there for my nephew's first meeting, but I'd be ready to give that wish!!!!

We had to cancel our meeting for today, Keira was readmitted to the hospital on Thursday night for some complications from surgery. Fluid around her lung & liver. I'll call our volunteer when we get home & try to get things all set up again.
