A weekend in Bath - any suggestions

We have booked a weekend in Bath with our Tesco vouchers
and never having been there am hoping some of you lovely people can recommed restaurants/things to do etc.
I have had a quick look at the Visit Bath website and quite fancy a trip to the thermal springs on the sunday afternoon but any other suggestions welcome!
We are staying just outside Bath so will really only have the Saturday and Sunday morning so need to squeeze in as much as possible!

We did a very wet weekend there a couple of years ago. We saw the Roman Baths (interesting audio tour), the Abbey and had tea and cake at the Assembly Rooms (I think we saw the fashion museum here too.)

We also did a bus tour but the weather was really too wet to enjoy the architecture of the city by foot.

We ate at the restaurant in our hotel and it was really good (not too impressed with our room but the food was lovely - I'm sure it was open to non-residents too. It was the Royal Hotel just opposite the railway station.)

We don't live too far from Bath. It is a lovely place - we took some American friends there a few years ago and we all found the bus tour was really good and also I would recommend venturing to Castle Coombe if you get a chance. It is such a beautiful village and it is where some of the original 1966 Doctor Dolittle was filmed.

I work in Bath and although I don't venture in too often (too many tourists lol), it is really a truly beautiful city. Can highly recommend the bus tour, although it is expensive. It is really interesting and, if the weather is fine, it's a great way to see some of the city.

Jamie Oliver has a restaurant in Bath, which is where our Christmas meal was and everyone was very impressed with it. Might be nice for lunch on the Saturday. Alternativel, Sally Lunn's might be a nice option for a light lunch. Tilly's Bistro (just a few doors down from Sally Lunn's) is also nice.

If you walk towards Bath Abbey from the centre of town, tehn head down to the right across the square, there are some lovely little shops there, inlcuding a little gift shop and a lovely old fashioned sweet shop. Sally Lunns and Tilley's is also down there.

We stayed in Bath just before Christmas and it was fantastic. We spent a lovely Friday evening in the Thermae Spa, it was approx. £37 each and included a meal and drink. To be in the roof top pool and the outside temp to be around -2 was unbelievable, we felt warmed to our bones when we came out! The shopping is also very good with a wide range of shops.

The Roman Baths are a must do! There are some gorgeous houses to see (I can't remember where they are exactly - somewhere near the Jane Austen museum, if I remember rightly), but they're curved in a semi circle, with a large area of grass in front ... they've been used in quite a few period dramas.

Also, if you have time, Prior Park (it's National Trust owned) is stunning - there are incredible views over Bath on a clear day.

Yes, Royal Crescent - the houses are gorgeous, you're right - cost a pretty penny too

If budget it allows, the spa is worth every penny.
Living in Bristol the three reasons we go to Bath are Jamie's, the spa and the Royal Victoria Park for the kids.

WE have walked past a Jamie Olivers in Oxford and it looked very nice. I am thinking about treating DH to a spa treatment on the Sunday morning as a Valentines pressie (and a treat for me too). I'd love to do the spa on the Friday when we arrive, but I dont think we'll be getting there till 6ish - and we're staying a half hour drive east of Bath but it might be nice to chill out a bit after a busy Sat and before the longish drive home.

And found a nice pub just outside of Bath ... help me remember the name, Tam & Kev -- I want to say the Fox and Hound?

The pub you're referring to, was it up a hill towards the outskirts of Bath - the Hare and Hounds maybe? Was it near the race course?

Yes, sounds very much like the Hare and Hounds - just a few yards from where I work and, yes, it had gorgeous views from the patio and dining area.

Yep - has to be the one. (My brain has a hard time diverting from all things Disney - can you tell [Fox and Hound] ) Great views!
