A Very Chit-Chat Thread

Andrea, I hope your day has improved.

Jessica, boy you said it. More than once today I have wanted to yell at people. It is up to the prosecution to convict and prove the guilt. They did not do it. And I will leave it at that.

Not sure if it can be pushed back that late, but if it can, I will see. They are putting the house up for sale near the end of August, so if it sells, then we can't. We will see how it goes! :)

The evening has been a little better. I went back up to bed for another nap when Dillon got home. So my sleep is good, but I still haven't eaten anything. Just don't have much of an appetite today I guess. :confused3 Swiss Chalet just opened in our town yesterday, and I was hoping we could check it out today, but just wasn't up to going out when it came down to it.

Well, I'm sure I'm one of the people you guys (Jessica and Michele) would get annoyed with because I feel a certain way about the Casey Anthony verdict. It doesn't rule my life, though - I've gone on with my day and done other things that had nothing to do with that! Life goes on!

But, as with so many things, the outcome was largely based on opinion. The opinion of 12 people. A different group of 12 people may have felt completely differently. I watched the whole trial and I felt the prosecution did prove their case, in my opinion - quite well, in fact.

This particular group of 12 people did not feel that way - or...maybe they just wanted to go home. You never know what people are really thinking while they use the "reasonable doubt" excuse.

Other defendants have been convicted on much less evidence, while still other defendants have been acquitted when there were mountains of evidence. Much of it boils down to that particular group of people in any given jury, how well they understand and process the information, how intelligent they are or are not, how logically they can think, what extenuating circumstances they have going on in their lives, etc., as well as the obvious factors such as how well the attorneys did in court. Sometimes jurors acquit or convict people for the 'wrong' reasons - it happens a lot, I would bet. We would all hope they do the right things, but people are people and they don't always do that. But the fact is, we will usually never learn what was really going on in the minds of most jurors in most trials so it is forever left a mystery and assumed to be based on following the letter of the law.

As for why some trials or situations catch fire in the media and others don't when there are so many crimes committed - who knows? They just do. It just happens.

And I will leave it at that.:goodvibes

Hi everyone! Hope you all had a good Tuesday :)
I just ate some ice cream then had a cup of hot tea. :confused3

Isn't it amazing how much a little one will wear you out?

Hiya Sherry! Let's just say the people I made my comments about on FB were just being downright horrible - and not towards you at all! I'm honestly kind of embarassed for them. I definitely don't begrudge anyone who feels differently about it than I do, we're all entitled to that opinion, but when people start calling for the jurors heads on a plate I get really miffed. I think making jokes about death - especially in a case like this one - is in extremely poor taste. And then they go on to talk about Caylee's memory. How about your put out some positive thoughts into the world to honor her? I dunno. I just don't like people being idiots. But that's just me, lol.

I went for a nice long walk today!!!

My mom is with you. But, what my mom fails to do is comprehend that even if she "feels" that she is guilty that doesn't mean that the jury does.

Also the fact that I was not in the jury room I do not what went on in there, so I cannot tell you why they decided the way that they did.

And lastly I am glad that it is over. Now if my mom would just stop watching Nancy Grace and that group life would be nice.

I'll be glad to not hear about it every time I turn around to be honest. Does that make me a horrible person?

No more horrible than me, so at least then we will both have company.

Was your walk nice?

Glad I wont be alone! I seem to be in the minority among people I've talked to today. I wish the topic wouldn't have come up at all. I haven't liked hte media attention this case got from day 1. Personally I don't think it has any place in our justice system but that's me. KK, I wont talk about it anymore.

My walk was good. We went down to the Marina and walked around there before coming back, so almost 4 miles and I'm usually dying after 3. Not bad considering how long it's been since I've walked at all!

That's a great location to walk to. Was is a little cooler down there? The heat makes it very uncomfortable to exercise. I hurt my foot though so I am not doing much walking. Grr.

Oh and remember how I said we wouldn't hear the fireworks? Well my lovely neighbors were setting them off until after midnight. I was not a happy neighbor.

Oops - I forgot to quote Michele too! Oh well, I'm talking to both of you!:rotfl2: I'm not fully awake yet!

Jessica -

I know what you mean - I've seen/read people make some very vicious, vaguely threatening comments about the jury and about Casey....even some on this board (though in other sections of the board - not here in the DLR section). The jurors obviously don't feel comfortable speaking publicly yet because they probably fear the huge backlash - and that's not right. I may not agree with their decision (at all!), and sometimes I do question why certain verdicts are reached and how much of it has to do with actually looking at evidence vs. personal feelings, but there should never be any threats or intimidating comments made against the jurors. No matter what their verdict, it's not easy or fun to leave their families, jobs and friends to have to sit there and listen to the awful details of a murder case. I'm sure that being involved in a case where the facts are terrible sticks in their minds for a long time after the trial, and the jurors (in any case) probably always question if they made the right choice.

I don't like idiots, either!:rotfl2: Boooooo on the idiots! And especially today - I understand that yesterday everyone was involved in the heat of the moment, but it's a new day and it is what it is. And yet, I still see people talking almost threateningly about Casey today. One lady said on the news, "Casey's going to die." I don't like Casey, and I think that if Casey is truly to blame for the horrible death of her daughter, karma will get her in some way and it can't be avoided...but you're not going to see me on TV or on Facebook talking about how she is going to die! Wishing that kind of awful fate on someone and speaking the words aloud would only bring bad karma on ME, and I don't want that.

Michele -

You mentioned Nancy Grace. I'm surprised she didn't faint on TV yesterday!:rotfl2: I'm wondering if she will be all over the upcoming Conrad Murray trial (coming soon to a cable channel near you!).

Even though the Casey trial is over now, Nancy G. and the other folks on HLN and TruTV are still all over it. What's left to ponder? In my opinion, unless the jurors actually want to speak and let us know what was going on in their minds, the story is over now and there's nothing left to cover on TV...is there? What's left to discuss? These people need to move on to another case! The jury has spoken, like it or not!

The Conrad Murray case...now that is a case I am interested in seeing how it plays out! I am not going to go right out and say I hate the guy, cause really, I don't even know what might have happened. But I want to see what they have to say about it all. See what evidence they have and stuff.

Morning Jillian! :)

Sherry, at least somebody has their head on their shoulders! I love how much the ladies on the DIS can be more articulate and thoughtful than people I know in person. I'm terrified of anyone bringing it up in conversation because I've already gotten backlash for not agreeing with them. Oh, joy.

So I ended up cutting my shift at work today in half so I can use the other half for tomorrow to give me a jump on this week's work. If it wasn't for the money I would love to stick to 4 hour shifts all the time.

Hello everyone!!!

I wasn't here much in the last week! Too much work and then when I got home I used the last of my energy on my Trip Report!!

Gotta get it done before my next/last AP trip and with so many days to cover I feel like its gonna take me FOREVER to do!!

How is everyone?!!?

We forgive you Paula! But only because you did TR work. That's important stuff right there. Everything else, not so much ;) I have faith in you though. If you need a little pushing, let me know! I have no idea how I'll get my TR for the Tinkerbell Half done in exactly 1 month (or less, really) before the Girls-Only trip! I'm in trouble there. Plus I'll need a PTR.

I'm doing good. Glad to be home and now I have time to tackle some of my threads with gusto! How are you today?

I think I've been doing pretty good on my trip report... I only skipped one day since I began and that was because I have no idea if what I typed would have made any sense I was so tired!! If you see me miss more than a day without an update make sure you give me a push!! I will state right now that there will likely not be an update next Wednesday as I am in a stinky committee meeting all day!

I have a headache now or there may even be 2  updates today!!

Ouch! That is going to be a tight squeeze between the Tinkerbell and the Diva trip!! How long are you going to DL for the Tinkerbell?

Alright, it's settled. You'll get a (not-so) subtle reminder to try and get an update a day. And you are pre-forgiven for icky-committee-meeting-day ;)

I don't know yet on the exact number of days but it will probably be the same as the stretch for the Disneyland Half in September, so arriving Friday morning and leaving Monday morning.

Oh boy!! That is going to be a very tough TR to get done before the Diva Trip... I know I couldn't get my October TR done before my December one! Of course I had a miserable cold for 2 weeks that impaired my starting!
