A Two Short, Too Different Spring Break Trip (Time to Say Goodbye)

Whew! I can't believe how long it took me to catch up!!! Poor Jill. So sorry she had to endure stupid and unsympathetic doctors. I'm happy to hear that she is doing better.
Glad to hear that you all survived the storms.
I have never been in One Man's Dream. I believe DH took the older kids in there one time, and I had the little one at Pooh's Playhouse. He said it was boring. I just didn't want to cry. (I'm a big sap)
The girls' Easter dresses were too cute!

Hi MeMom and Crew! I have been MIA...and just got caught up on this TR! First off... CONGRATS Jill for your new lil' :cutie:, she is just perfect! :cloud9:
I'm sure your Brooklynn will make just the perfect big sister, OH MY she is growing so FAST! MeMom, we are planning an additional trip this year as FD came along, YIPPEEE! and where to....your FAV POP! Couldn't pass up this deal, did you look into it ;). Would like to ask you, what area of the hotel do you think I should ask for? I would like to be near Classic Hall, the Food Court, Pool (I have a 7 yr old). Can you share a FAV area, being the expert POP'ER (is that a word, LOL) you are? Just want to experience all this neat hotel has to offer! TIA

P.S> We should have a HUGE DIS MEET for NYE at the POLY BEACH! Would love to say HI to you guys.

We always are glad when our MIA's return to the fold! :goodvibes

Bella is absolutely perfect; I agree!

We have had good rooms in the 70's twice. Both were just a stone's throw from Classic Hall. I personally liked the poolside room we had in the Jukebox building, but it was not close to the main area. For closeness, ask for the Big Wheel building or the Lady building, unless you want to pay preferred and get in the closer 60's rooms. There are some non-preferred 60's, too, on the lake side, but if I were you, I'd probably ask for the 70's Big Wheel to be close. Anyone else want to chime in with opinions to help?

A Dis meet at the Poly sounds great! We're marking our calendar for NYE.

So far all we've gotten is the magazine, certificate and a poster. Oh and a membership card. And of course we get to buy all kinds of club merchandise! We'll see:goodvibes I'll let you know if they come out with anything really exciting (and worth the membership cost!)

Definitely do, because if it is worth it, I'm in.
I think they had richer people than me in mind when they did this.

Morning to all! :goodvibes

I have some sad news to report, I had to change my trip from 11 nights to 7 nights. :sad1:

I looked at my finances and I had to make a little cut. (thanks to the washer/dryer...:headache:)

I am still excitted about the trip and I will plan for next year to be longer.

Now I have to decide which ADR's to cut from my list, it's hard because I want to try them all. ;)

That is a bummer, but life does us in sometimes. You still have a good long week, and everything that gets marked off your list can be the start of a new list for the next trip!

I just adore One Man's Dream. I love looking at all of the displays. :lovestruc

I also love that no matter who takes the pictures, they are always of different things I didn't take of One Man's Dream. It's neat!

I'm glad you saw some new things. I'll go back again this summer, I'm sure, and I will take notes on the movie this time!

I love one mans dream its such a pleasant AIR CONDITIONED walk through experience! We have fun posing next to all the displays your pictures bring back memories and excite me for the new ones!

I think this should be at the front of the park and you should have to go through it when you first enter. Then more people would see and hopefully appreciate it.

This happened to me in College. I had an Art History class that was from 8-10am (thats early for a college student---not for a mommy now though:rotfl:) in a darkened theater with comfortable theater seats that slightly reclined. It was all I could do to keep from falling asleep during that class!

Confession: Later in the trip report, we will both doze through Impressions de France. (That beautiful music and peaceful scenery did it to us!)

I haven't ever done One Man's Dream either. I can't wait to check it out and learn more about one of the coolest men ever, Walt Disney. Don't feel bad MeMom, I fell asleep for awhile in the Muppet's 3-D movie. I think it's the combo of an early morning along with a cool/dark theatre. :)

I hope you do get the chance to go in there. It's very nostalgic. I saw some things from way back when I was watching Mickey Mouse Club of old!

The One Man's Dream exhibit is very cool! Add me to the list of people wanting you check it out. Poor Hollywood Studios, it always draws the short straw when the Mop family goes to Disney!

Yay! Can't wait until the day I get to read all about "The Mop Family Makes it to One Man's Dream". That'll be with your three men and a little lady in tow!

I WILL do One Man's Dream in July! My crew never wants to do it. I will just have to emphasize the fact that it is air conditioned.

Just go alone if you have to do. It is quite interesting.

Or tell them they can't ride any of Walt's rides unles they go see Walt first!

The girls' Easter dresses were too cute!

It didn't make me cry, but it was pretty cool. It made me appreciate all the efforts that went into making our beloved place of happiness.

I can't wait to see my little babies this weekend!

MeMom are you heading to Alabama this weekend or are your babies coming to you?

I bet you miss them so much, and need a sniff of that sweet "new" baby smell...:rotfl:

I bet Bella already looks older already. ;)

I'm going there either tomorrow after school or Saturday morning, depending on what kind of day I have tomorrow. I have a meeting at two, and last time the meeting on this student lasted a while, so if I don't get out on time or just feel the need to go home and crash, I'll go early Saturday morning. I'll be there by the time they wake up, so it won't be any big deal.

They are coming here in a couple of weeks for the do-over of the Disney party that got stormed out. We're also going to see the Disneynature movie, Earth, either next weekend or when they are here for the Disney party, whichever is best for Jill. I have a feeling that is going to be an awesome movie!

I heard Bella fussing while I was on the phone with Jill this morning. I can't wait to feel her sweet little soft skin again! Also, Brooklynn stayed home with Jill this morning and was going to school later when Jill got out to do chores. Jill can tell you her conversation about the tornado drill that she told me about on the phone.

This is a practice picture. I'm experimenting with resizing, because my pictures seem too big, so I am going to see what happens with a general shopping picture.

Have a great visit!

Lexi is already promoting going to the Earth movie. We are all looking forward to it, especially my DMom. ;)

I totally agree about the Big Wheel building! When we stayed in April '08, we were just across from the Big Wheel and right next to the Mickey phone, overlooking the hooky table. We could walk down the hall and around the corner and get a nice view of the lake. I think that we were as close to preferred as we could get without actually paying for preferred.

MeMom, I hope you have a great weekend with your girls whenever you get out there!

Very exciting that you can say next month!!!
I looked at some of your pictures from your Pop/MNSSHP trip. You have some good ones. I enjoyed seeing the piano player. What a great job!

Oh, I am BEYOND excited. DH and I just walk around giggling about it- we're SO goofy!:goofy: I'm hoping to start my PTR this weekend between recital rehearsals and paper-writing.

As to the pics - very glad you enjoyed them! That was such a great trip with awesome family members.

Isn't the piano player just too much fun? DH and I are both pianists so we really enjoyed watching him.

We love stuff like that, and for Disney to be doing it, I think it is going to be awesome! They have several movies in the works, too, according to the Disneynature website, so I am hoping these are all going to be great!

In 2005, we were in the Big Wheel building right by the playground. That is considered preferred now, though. This summer, we were in the Mickey Phone building just a few doors down around the back away from the Goofy Jets. It took about fifteen seconds to walk down the stairs and be greeted by Goofy. The other rooms we've had have been a bit farther away, but since I'm a walker, none of the walking ever bothers me. This summer, I am asking for the 60's non-preferred, just because the 60's is the only decade I have not stayed in before.

I'll probably just go to AL in the morning. It's easier that way, I think. I can just come home and crash early tonight and not have to drag so much overnight stuff down there. The early morning drive is nice and peaceful, too. I just listen to my gospel and Disney music, and before you know it, I'm there and they're just getting up. That's most likely what I will do.

That sounds like us! Jill and I say something about the trip almost daily. Even Trent seems to be super-excited about it. He mentions it about every other day, although most of his questions and comments are about the food. You'd think I starve the poor boy or something!

I've seen that piano player many times, and only one other one that I can recall recently, and maybe I did see one other one a long, long time ago, but mostly that guy. This summer, I think I'm going to stop and talk to him. It seems like I should, since I've seen him so many times and never stopped to thank him for his good work.

It is finally Friday, everyone!
For me, it's the last day of cramming educational information into sweet little brains before they spit it all back out next week. At the end of the day, we're having drinks and snacks and a TCAP good luck meet. I am hoping that I get to move down next year and this will be my last TCAP good luck meet ever!!!

Whatever you have planned, we wish you much fun and complete safety in all travel! Have a great weekend!

I hope it's a great Friday for you MeMom. I am sure you have done everything you can to prepare your angels for the TCAP tests. Are the snacks for the teachers or are the kids in the good luck meet as well.

We have out of town guests coming in this afternoon. My cousin is coming with her husband and two daughters. I've spent the week leaving the boys to their own devices and working on getting the house ready for visitors. Right now, I am trying to figure out if washing my windows is more important or taking a trip to the zoo with just my boys would be a better use of the day. We've got passes, so it could be a fun time to bond while I still have a boy only family... but I honestly can't remember the last time I washed the windows.

We have actually had the exact same room both times we were at Pop. 50s Building C room 3433. Great view of the lake, fireworks and it was very quiet. Not too far of a walk either.

MeMom, pooksma and I visited One Man's Dream on our secret trip last summer. It was really neat to see and get some background. I wonder if Declan would so it this summer??

Have a great weekend!

I vote for the zoo! I can't remember the last time my windows were washed either. Maybe if I pull myself away from this sweet little face I'm staring at I could do that, but that wouldn't be as much fun would it? If your weather is as nice as ours this morning it is a great zoo day.

Also, Brooklynn stayed home with Jill this morning and was going to school later when Jill got out to do chores. Jill can tell you her conversation about the tornado drill that she told me about on the phone.

On Monday afternoon the weather got kind of rough down here and the tornado sirens went off. There is a siren right across the street from Brooklynn's school so it can be kind of loud. On Monday when she got home she was telling me all about the o-tato. I had no idea what she was talking about until she said "It was loud and we had to run to the bathroom (their designated safe area for tornadoes)" I then realized the o-tato was a tornado. Every day this week she has come home to report there was no o-tato today.

How cute! I love the way little ones have their own version of words. I know I shouldn't have, but I would always my kids cute words their way so that I could keep here them say it. But both of mine are too big for that now. I miss it.

Thanks for the laugh, that was great!!! :upsidedow

Aww Brookie! :rotfl:

Memom, my Mom retired from teaching a couple of years ago. For the bulk of her career she taught 4th grade, but her last year she went down to 2nd grade. The stress of Tcaps got to her too. She moved down grades thinking that might buy her a few more years, but she was already too far gone (starting to have stress-related health problems etc.) that she retired the next year. So I totally understand your frustration. I don't know what the answer is, but I think it is a shame to force our some of our best teachers out of the profession. Ok, I will get off my soapbox now ;)

We are looking forward to the new Earth movie here too. DH got the DVD collection of planet earth for his birthday last month. Both my kids have really enjoyed it, so we will definitely be seeing the movie from a Disney perspective.

Have a great weekend!

Have a safe trip MeMom. Looking forward to hearing and seeing all about it.

Have fun, MeMom! Your TCAP must be like our CRCT -- today was our last day of cramming information before next week as well.

Jill, love the o-tato story -- I am terribly afraid of o-tatoes as well, and every day this week I have been relieved that it has been sunny and calm. I know how Brooklyn feels. ;)

Snacks were for the kids. Some who had too many checks for the week didn't get them, so they had to sit at the side and watch the fun.

No doubt, the zoo is the best use of a day!

Did you request the same room or you just got it? We've only requested once, and that was to be in the fifties when I turned 50. I want to request for this year just because we haven't done the sixties and have done every other decade, but it won't be a big deal of we don't get it. It will be more important to get our rooms together than it will be to get a certain location, but I admit I am hoping that they can accomodate us in the sixties either this summer or at Christmas.

Toddler talk is one of the sweet treasures in life.

After hearing the full story on the couple in Murfreesboro, I can't get that out of my mind. The guy said the last thing he remembered was being sucked up with the roof and he was looking down on his wife and daughter. It makes me sick at my stomach to think of that.

It's good that we have a lot of good things in life to offset some of the bad.

Aww Brookie! :rotfl:

When she was telling me the story on the phone, I thought she said a tomato.

We have lost three incredible teachers in the past few years - all due to the testing. We've lost several more decent teachers for various reasons, but the three I'm thinking of were a tremendous loss because they were exceptional teachers.

I hope Disney comes through with flying colors on this one. I'm counting on it, since so many of my colleagues are saying they are going to see it.

Have a safe trip MeMom. Looking forward to hearing and seeing all about it.

I'll leave early in the morning when there is not much traffic.

We worked solid up until two o'clock when we had our festivities. We've done all we could. It's up to the kids now.

It has been a beautiful day weatherwise here in Nashville.

We requested a room in that general location and ended up in the same room. We use Dream Come True Vacations to book our trip and when she (Liz) put in the request she must have gave them the room number. It was like coming home. Liz is awesome!!
