A trip full of surprises.. Good News! 6/16

WOW! 8 days to go! How exciting!!!:cheer2:
I guess I don't understand the question about your DS medications, You are bringing his inhalers in your daybag. You are concerned about having them or his other medicaitons go through security?? I would think if they are in the original labeled containers it wouldn't be a problem, or are you concerned about leaving them at the hotel?? How would they know they are there?

Woo hoo! How did I miss this? Your boys are adorable. I can't wait to see how the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo Cool Dude package turns out. I'm glad they have something for the boys.

When we were at DTD, the girls were so jealous that they were too big for the costumes and seriously contemplated getting their hair done. :rotfl2: They really tickled some little girls we saw by telling them how beautiful they were.

I loved Restaurant Marrakesh--if you don't want to go too exotic, I recommend the shish kebobs. And I'm glad you're going to catch Illuminations--it's my favorite.

I'm very excited for you and I hope you have a stress-free week getting packed and ready!

You are so sweet!:goodvibes Thanks for posting and your sweet comments about the boys! I started this before I really read alot of others(like yours):thumbsup2 , so now that I know better I can spice up the TR a little more, especially since I can post pics.

Sorry, I guess I should of explained better:rotfl: ... DS5 has severe asthma his inhalers are rescue inhalers incase he has an attack, those go with me everywhere. He also takes 3 other medications daily for preventative measures. These meds. don't have to come with me wherever I go. I am carrying them on the plane because I can't risk them getting lost if our luggage does. I am worried about leaving the carry on bag that the meds will be in at the hotel. I know our room won't be ready and I don't want to take them out in the heat to the parks. I don't know what kind of room POP has that they store guests luggage in or if there even is a room or do they keep them just behind the desk??:confused3 I hope I explained it :) better

Sounds good so far. We arent going until August, so I have been living vicariously through everone else's tr's :) What airline are you taking out of Philly? We got a a 9:37am flight out on Air Tran. It gets us into MCO at 11:57am.

What about getting a locker at the MK??? It would cost a few bucks, but at least you'd know for sure where the meds were...

Hey Janet first let me say :welcome: We are flying on US Air. We were at t WDW last August 16-28. It was hot but great crowd wise! As long as you've got a good touring plan and are there at opening you should have a great time. Thanks for posting! :thumbsup2 Oh yeah these TR's are addicting! My DH thinks I'm nuts when he hears me LOL when I'm in the office by myself!:rotfl2:

We were there at the same time last year. I didn't think the crowds were too bad...Hoping for the same thing this year. We usually stya with my parents who are CM's, but are looking forward to staying at POP this year.:cheer2:

Good thought. The only thing I would worry about is the heat? Is there really no where for the hotel to store my carry on!:confused3 I can't believe I didn't think of this before now!:headache: Hey can you check your forecast yet for the 1st day your there? So far ours are 4/24 85 degrees and 4/25 87 degrees!:cool1: More importantly bright sunshine! We have had the worst weather here the past few days!

We're at the 12 day mark, so no weather for us. But soon, very, very soon!

I believe (and I've been known to be wrong - ask anyone about my marriages!) but the lockers at the MK are inside, right before you get under the train station (they used to be UNDER the train station, but have been moved)... and I think, I think, it was cool under there...

The hotel can take your bag and store it at bell services... Is your concern that they might lose it? Can't say 100% they won't... but positive thinking is the key to a stress-free life! :woohoo: Probably a better shot at having bell services NOT lose a bag than the airlines!

Hi, I'm enjoying your preTR. I just started mine also - we are going to be there May 5-12, also at Pop. Your boys are adorable!! As far as the medicine is concerned, your carry-on should be safe in the luggage room, but I think, from other threads I have read, that if you put them in a separate ziploc with your name on it, or something like that, that they can store it for you at the front desk. I believe they are prepared to store medicine for people if they don't have a frig and need it, so I bet they will keep yours for the day. Just ask when you get there. I don't think I would leave it in the lockers if I didn't have to! Have a great time. I will be posting my schedule in the next day or so, if you want to compare notes! Are you just too excited for words?!! :goodvibes

Here's what I do with my carry-on luggage when we have to check it--I usually have room in my suitcase (I like to leave extra room for souvenirs on the way home!) and I stuff my carry-on inside my suitcase. Then I lock the suitcase and leave it with bell services. You can buy small locks for your suitcases that can be unlocked by airport security at places like Target.

I've never had an issue with bell services but I do like to have the important stuff locked up.

:welcome: Thanks for finding me and posting! So far so good in the packing department!:thumbsup2 I went to allears.net and looked at the menu for Marrakesh and found a few things that looked good! Thanks for the menu advice!

We are really looking forward to staying on site having never done so before! I think that is so cool that your parents are CM's:thumbsup2

Yes, my main concern was having the hotel lose the meds. but I really think that is the only logical place for me to keep them. I would do the locker at MK but i'd be a wreck all day wondering if it was too hot! 12 days for you :cool1:
I just saw the time of your post!:rotfl: Are you addicted to the DIS?:lmao:

Wow! You're really getting close now! :goodvibes

pixiedust: for a great trip! Can't wait to hear all about it!

Hello everyone this is my very first attempt at this... so here goes...

Okay a little background first...

Me, I am 36 and have been to Disney in 1983,87,93,96,98,02 and 06 but never stayed on property.

My DH is 40 and has been to Disney in 96,98,02 & 06 and also has never stayed on property.

We have 2 DSpirate: ages 7 and 5 they have been in 2002 and 2006.

Our dates are April 24-May 1, 2007! It's approaching so quickly:hourglass I can hardly wait!:woohoo: Anyway, this is one of those unplanned trips, meaning it wasn't planned six months to a year in advance. It just sort of came together. We were just in Orlando in August of 06 for 12 days, 7 of them at Disney Parks. It was the first trip for our sons, that they actually remember. On their first trip they were 2yo and 5 months.

I have to say that I am proud to have given birth to 2 Disney freaks like me!:rotfl: Everyday since we have been home from our trip last summer not a day has gone by that boys haven't mentioned Disney in some way, shape or form. My DH and I were thrilled that they got so much out of the experience.

O.K. back to this trip... I was looking at the WDW website as I frequently do :) and saw that they were advertising the free ticket upgrade so I casually mentioned it to DH and his response was less then enthusiastic:rolleyes: So I knew to persuade him I was really gonna have to lay it on thick! All the while I'm thinking to myself that I want it to be a surprise for our boys..., I start pricing packages and checking flights desparately trying to keep the total cost at a reasonable level. Everyday for a week I didn't mention it I would just text message him little things like disney, disney disney. Well he never even acknowledged that I had done this:mad: So now I was thinking forget it it's the furthest thing from his mind!! Then the television and cable networks start helping me!!1:rotfl: It seemed like divine intervention but everynight when we would go to bed and turned on the news there would be a disney commercial on! After the 3rd night in a row of this he finally laughed! OK.. he was starting to crumble.... then the very next day the airfare that I was looking at dropped from $800 round trip for all 4 of us to $600 for all of us, so I went through the whole WDW website quoted a trip including the dining plan and left it on the computer! When he came home for lunch he went on the computer and saw the deal he was impressed! Now I was actually getting a conversation from him about it:woohoo: Now don't get me wrong my DH loves vacation and spending time with us and Disney for that matter, he is just extremely practical when it comes to finances , which is usually a good thing although not when I am dying to go back to my favorite place on Earth! So I started telling him about the dining plan and all the choices and restaturants and stuff and I told him about allears.net and how he could look at all the menus! Do you know that this is what finally sealed the deal!! Yes it's true ladies and gentlemen the way to a mans heart is truly through his stomach!! Hooray :cheer2: were going back to Disney!! Can't wait to stay on property at the Pop Century Resort.

Okay now I am freaking out trying to plan everything and think about how I can make this trip seem different and stand out since we were just there 8 months earlier!:confused3 ! But that is the truly magical and wonderful part of Disney, there are so many things to do and see that it never gets old or boring!! Who am I kidding I thrive on this stuff!

Oh Yeah! DH thought the boys should have something to look forward to so we told them about the trip!! There are a few surprises for them along the way that they will absolutely love!! So at least we can be excited for that!

O.K. the plan... please comment back and give me your thoughts, ideas and experiences. That is the thing I love most about these boards is all the wonderful knowledge and experiences that are shared.

Tues. April 24th depart Philadelphia 6:30 am Arrive MCO 8:49. So excited to have the 1st flight out! Hope it all goes well. Take Disney's ME to the POP. Here is the first SURPRISE the boys best friends from home will be there TOO! They will be sharing a whole day together in the Magic Kingdom with Dinner at the Crystal Palace! They are also staying at POP too. I cannot wait to see the look on their faces when they see their friends! We will also stay for Wishes tonight too! A first for all of us!:yay:

Wed. April 25th Sad to say goodbye to our friends but they went back to their condo in Naples :sad2: Back to the Magic Kingdom today, not sure if we will hop to MGM or not. We spent 3 days here in Aug. it was the boys favorite park. We have an ADR at Kona Cafe for dinner! Then I think we will call it a day. Maybe will get in a swim tonight but I'm sure we will be exhausted from such an excitingand long day the day before!

Thurs. April 26th Animal Kingdom my DS's both LOVED Dinosaur! I have heard great things about the new Nemo show and cannot wait to check it out. Also, my DH and I LOVE,LOVE Everest and we are hoping to convince DS 7 to join us(he is a little intimidated by coasters) of course DS5would die to go but misses the heght requirement by about 2 inches:rolleyes: then we are headed to Downtown Disney where both boys (after seeing some pictures) wanted to get the "cool dude" package at BBBoutique! I also love the shopping at DTD. OK next SURPRISE, both of our boys are STAR WARS freaks but DS5 could tell you every last detail of every movie... this child is into Star Wars bigtime... so we are headed to Once Upon a Toy so they can make their own lightsabers!!:yay: How cool is that! Then we are going to Epcot for an ADR @ Marrakesh. I was nervous about this one but a concession was made by me to go to Disney! Besides, the kids meal there is great for our kids. Then we will end the night with Illuminations!! Something then we have NEVER seen before(if you can believe it!) This is one of the things I am most excited about!

Friday, April 27th THE BIGGEST SURPRISE The boys will be going on the Albatross Pirate Cruise, pirate: that leaves from the Yacht Club Marina. They will be gone from 9:30-11:30! It all sounds so cute. They get lunch and get to search for treasure. I know they will be safe as the will wear lifejackets the CM's are certified lifeguards too! I am so thrilled to be able to let them do this. For them this truly will be a dream come true! Has anyone had any experience with this particular Cruise? please let me know! Of course that means DH and I will have some time to ourselves!:yay: but we cannot imagine what we would do during that time!:rolleyes1 Any suggestions? After the boys get back from the cruise we will be headed to one of the waterparks. Were not sure which one yet. This was part of our free ticket upgrade and wanted to take advantage since again this is another thing that we have never done at Disney! Anyone have a suggestion for which park would be better? We have an ADR for Boma tonight as well! I am thrilled to eat here and actually walk around the AK Lodge as well and I think the boys will love it too!

more to come later...

I just started reading so I have to reply from the beginning. How exciting! You leave so soon! I can't wait to read all about POP. We really wanted to stay there our last trip but it was all sold out. When we go back to the world next year we're definitely going to stay at a value and it's a toss between All Star Movies and POP.

How fun that the boys will be suprised by their friends and by the pirate's cruise! I can't wait to see how it all goes.

We've eaten at Boma and at Kona and they're both wonderful. You'll have a great experience?

Lastly, what part of NJ are you from?

All of your ADR'S sound amazing. I can't wait to read about everything. You are going to have such a wonderful time. Also your boys are absolutely adorable!

Thanks so much!:flower3: We are really excited about all the restaurants! Hopefully they will all be great! I was a little nervous about staying at a value, but I have read such great things about POP and the boys are really looking forward to staying there after looking at all the pics.

We are from Ocean County.

Funny story... the boys friends that are going to meet us there are leaving in the morning and when my DS5 left preschool this morning his friend said I'll see you when I get back from Florida! then my son said " I'll see you when I get back from Florida" it was hysterical because they were both so clueless:rotfl:

Thanks for reading my report and posting!:thumbsup2
