Be patient. There are a lot of people who don't get the chance to visit Universal often or it might be a once in a lifetime trip. If you go a lot, be patient with the ones that don't. We want to stop and look at things. We want to soak it all in. We want to snap a picture. We want to see everything we can. Please be patient. Walk around those folks if you have to but allow them to soak in the moment. I have seen arguments and people yelling at folks being very ugly because they were soaking it all in while others didn't care what was around them and just wanted to go through. Be patient. Walk around them or ask if you can go ahead of them. Everyone wants to enjoy the magic in their own way.

I actually saw a guy getting upset because a man wanted to take pictures of his family going through "the wall" at the King's Cross station. All the man wanted to do was capture it on video. The man behind him got very upset and vocal. All that man had to do was ask politely to go ahead. Wasn't going anywhere since the line is long on the other side anyways. Hurrying does nothing. Seen it at other times and places there as well while I was there last week. It is bad enough we are rushed at home in every day life. Being on vacation - it is time to slow down and enjoy the moments that are presented to us. We are all so lucky to be able to go on a vacation. Most have never been and will never have that opportunity to take a vacation. Be patient.

Felt rushed in there as well. For Gringott's, it was pretty empty in there last week when I went but people were running through the main area not checking anything out. Guessing those folks have been a lot. I just let them go in front of me. I am not in a hurry ever.

So true. When we see first timers' delight at the disappearing kings cross wall, we like to ask them if they would like us to video or snap a pic of them going thru together - we're never in a hurry and don't mind the extra few min it takes. They all get so excited and grateful to have that on film. I remember what it was like the first time we visited and wanted that perfect shot of walking thru.

But courtesy works both ways: too many folks are in their own world and just stop abruptly, forcing everyone behind them to stumble or careen around to avoid them. Or they hold up a very long line taking extra time to enjoy, but also blocking the way for anyone else to pass.

When we want to take extra time to soak something in, I'm always proactive - gesturing and smiling to everyone and telling them to please pass us - we don't want to hold anyone up. It's amazing how much nicer most people are if you consider their needs in advance. (Not everyone...there are always jerks, but most people are nice.)

Definitely. The problem with that is - the picture or video taking would be for nothing since the line stops. Best to hold back and wait.

I’ve seen people that really hold things up trying to get that perfect shot. That’s annoying. You, the picture/video taker may think it’s no big deal but, like others said, courtesy goes both ways. I won’t be happy if you have your kids take a do over so you can capture it just right. Or if you want to document absolutely everything. Let others go around you, in that case.

Just a thought for the vanishing wall (and other cases where someone wants to take pictures after the EP merge). I understand that it's definitely annoying to be behind someone who stops abruptly and people should absolutely be polite, but the delay of waiting for someone to take a picture at the platform wall in no way changes anything for the people behind them. It's after the merge so everyone is in the order they're going to be in. There is a lot of queue left at the vanishing wall point so there's no way someone would hold a person up enough that they would miss getting on the train they would have been on without the person delaying them. People could redo their video 5 times and it wouldn't affect how long someone waits, their place in line, or anything else. It's equivalent to racing up to a stop light that's already red. If anything they might get the benefit of someone letting them go ahead - so there are only upsides to someone in front of you wanting to stop for pictures in that case.

And then there's my husband who, even if he's been somewhere many times, will still want to take tons of pictures. However, he doesn't tell me when he stops, resulting in me turning around eventually and wondering where he disappeared to this time!

FJ is the one ride I go slow in, I stop a lot of places and just let the line go by me. Especially in the corner of the talking portraits room, Dumbledore's office, and Defense against the dark arts classroom, but I also stop to listen to the fat lady. I just tell anyone to go by me.

I do get annoyed at people who stop frequently and expect everyone behind them to stop and wait. Just because you want to slow down and enjoy a certain moment doesn't mean everyone else wants to. I have been on Gringotts 50+ times, I don't need to linger in the bank. Just stay to the side and let others pass.

This was a long line so everyone knew. It was our first time, as well as the guests a few spots in front of us. The people right in front of us goes there a lot and didn't care to see anything. They just wanted to get on that train. The wife was yelling at the husband for being a jerk all the way up to the train. It was brutal. lol He deserved being scolded for the way he acted.

The issue with the stopper allowing people in front is that those people will be in the video going through with their family members. There is no way to tell the family members to stop and come back - it's too late at that point. Before he sent his family through, he did ask if it was okay and the dude in front of me said yet while he was rolling his eyes. Took a half minute for the family to reach the "wall" and go through together and that is what made the man upset. RIght ahead of him was a VIP tour and they took a bit to go through the wall before this family so the family knew about the disappearing wall at that point.

I missed all of that. LOL! I didn't see those things at all but I was single rider and kept walking through. I felt rushed and never got to see anything until the ride. I will slow down next time. Thanks.

And yes.... get to the side. That is what I do. Most people race through Gringott's and I lingered to the side and looked at everything with the kids.
