A Ten Day Ride on A Magic Camel - Almost Finished Trip Report

Was universe of energy something Brooklyn enjoyed? We haven't done it, but my DS likes dinosaurs. I wonder if this will be something he will enjoy.
I'm so glad you can meet Darby. I just asked the kids who they wanted to meet at Disney and DS mentioned Darby.
We spent a good deal of time at Pooh's play area last time we were there. DS was 2 and the play areas were his favorite part.

I am up proper early. How cute is that? I wish I could hear you say that in person - complete with your accent. I'm missing that chance by mere days because of the way our trips are!

That's great that you can let us know about who has their trees up! We would appreciate that so much! We want to see as many as we can, but if everyone waits until Thursday and Friday to have them up, we'll run short on time.

Will you have a computer with you for live check-ins on your trip?
If so, you can pretty much count on me to be up reading along in the wee hours of the morning.

Proper early, that is.

Us country folks equivalent to that might be

'up before the rooster crows',

but that's not nearly as cute as proper early.

Good Morning!

Glad you like my use of the word 'proper' -not sure its classed as 'proper' English though! I have a good English accent, I am always told I'm well spoken. I live in Hampshire, on the borders of Surrey, and its probably one of the 'poshest' counties / areas in England - but I'm not sure that's where my accent came from as I grew up in a place we call the 'Fens' and most of the Fen people I know (Mum included!!!) have very bad country accents!!! :rotfl:

I'll definitely let you know about the Christmas Trees as soon as we arrive back, our flight lands at 7am UK time, so I'll be home and online by around 9-10am UK time - perfect for you! :thumbsup2

We won't be taking a laptop with us, I'd love too, but would spend far too much time online! If we get to the Grand Floridian I might find their business centre - would be nice to send my hubby a surprise email too!

I only just clicked again today but we overlapped our summer trips. We were there from 30 June to 14 July. I like your July 4th pictures - the pics of Brooklynn were so cute! We were shopping that day and we went to Disney's town 'Celebration' to look at their fireworks - was a great day!

Oh and I love your shopping pics from Mousegears - think I got most of my goodies from there in summer. I didn't get one of those bags though, as I'd already brought two from our shopping mall trips, hubby said no! :sad2: but believe me when I say I WILL be purchasing one on this trip! :rotfl: (I LOVE bags!)

Have a good day & weekend. Our internet seems busted at home so I probably won't get online!

There is also talk that if you book a trip for dates up to the end of March you will get a $200 gift card...Really hoping that all this is true

I can't stay the seven days, but I'm hoping this will mean good things for room discounts for shorter stays. We'll see.

We would love :lovestruc Brooklynn to join us for dress up days. That's one of the reasons we do Halloweeen, just to add to our dress up box. Its too full now and I can't close the lid! Oh and YES, we have way too much candy. I will give them a week and suddenly it will disappear. :rolleyes1
That pic is just too funny....love the hair too! :cloud9:

You are sooo pretty Dawn...and look great in every color! :yay:

I have ADR's there for our Feb trip! I can't wait to try it out.....note to self...the meal is huge...save room for that cute dessert!!

And, is it too late to move to Canada????? :rolleyes1 *ahem*

I have just settled on NOT getting an annual pass for 2009 and then you had to bring this up :goodvibes .....now if flights would come down in price it might work.....:headache:

The girls always look so cute in the things you make them. Brooklynn would be in heaven playing dress-up with them.

We haven't seen HSM3 yet, but we will for sure get it when it comes out on video.

Babies do smell so sweet, don't they. I love the smell of their soft, sweet little heads after a bath.

I'm going to renew my AP on the March trip, if we get to go, rather than this trip, I think. Money's a little tight right now, and if I renew in March, it'll be good all the way through any holiday trips we might get to take next year.

Dawn looks good in all of her hair styles and colors!

I love this bag! It would make a great school bag! Just a little Disney reminder to get me though the day!

I need it after the day I had!!! One of my kiddos at school fell and busted open his head! Luckily he is ok, but it was still scary and not something I ever want to go though again!

You are very talented! I wish I could sew!

That would be a good school bag. I have one that is dirty and needs to be replaced so I may get some kind of new school bag this trip.

I hate it when a kid gets hurt on my watch, even if it is an accident.

twob4him uses her talents to brighten the lives of those going through hard times, too, so she is admired for her talent and her kindness.

The new promo doesn't make sense for me either, it will still be cheaper to go in late August w/free dinning. Dmom reminded me about the money needed for the roof $$$$. I told her we can just buy a big tarp. :rotfl: She told me I could do what I wanted but she votes for August. So I am back to my original plans. A great deal for those who already planned to go before June. I could use the $200 gift card for more WDW shopping.

If I let my house go much longer, it won't be good, so I know I have to give up some wants and take care of some needs, but it is going to be hard.

Oh bless you MeMom! You always have the best shopping photos! I should show your pics to my boss so she could see that I need a bigger paycheck! And some more time off! ;) I love those mugs from Mousegears...I could keep one at work, one at home.....and the bag I could use to take it to work....hehehe. Oh I can't wait to shop in the World! Heaven knows I love to shop (I did it for 5 hours today!), but shopping at Disney = Nirvana! :)

I'm another Canadian without a fence...but if I did have one, I would want mickey heads on it instead of maple leaves. We have a giant maple in the front, that should be good enough. :)

I'm planning to get a good hot chocolate mug this time to get me through the winter.

I love the maple leaf fence. I think it is so neat.

The bigger paycheck thing - I hope those pictures might help you plead your case. Maybe if you can get your boss hooked on Disney, she'll understand and give you a whopping (shopping) raise!

Yeah, by the time February rolls around it will probably be pretty long. I keep on wanting to add mostly food things on there. :rotfl: I can justify it since we do so much walking there!

I, too, would like to try everything at least once. I believe that Stitch took over the Alien Encounter attraction. My mother was very sad when that went away, and I was bummed that I never tried it, so, yeah, trying everything at least once is good!

I'm also going to try to do morning EMH at least once. MK has it on our first full day, and I'm definitely going to attempt it. AK has evening EMH on our arrival day, and we may or may not do that. Even if no one else wants to go with me early in the morning, I'd still love to go alone and just experience it, and Pop, first thing in the morning. :cloud9: (Your pictures inspired me a great deal)

ETA: twob4him: I LOVE the outfits! You are super talented. My dad's mother and a couple of his sisters make American Girl doll outfits, and I really envy people who can do stuff like that. :goodvibes

I hope all of your EMH plans work out. Magic Kingdom in the early morning is very nice. I think you'll be pleased with the pictures you're able to get.

Awww, Hollie loves Darby! She was just asking us the other day if Darby would be there when we go in February!!!!

Brooklynn says Dahby. They were all very sweet with her. I have never seen any character rush through a greeting, like I hear some people say. I've always thought they've been very kind to the person taking pictures, yet considerate to those waiting in line.

O.K. people. What exactly is the deal Disney is offering?? :confused3 I saw a pp where someone said that Disney was releasing a deal at 5 p.m. today, but I haven't seen what it is. Please Help me. We are traveling in June and wonder if the "deal" could apply to us.
Great update memom. I want to be Brooklyn. I wish I could take as many trips to Disney as she does.

She's been pretty lucky so far. She knows her way around pretty well with all of her travels.

i needed a break before i started typing closing arguments in the hearing i'm working on and i come check out the disboards to find this nice little update!

wow....moving right along, aren't we?

magic kingdom in the morning....there's nothing like it! :goodvibes

the one on the left is my favorite. CINDERELLAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

luckies.

I'm trying to finish this before we leave, and I've got to get moving!

I'm glad you enjoyed the pictures. I always am happy when I get to have a Disney pick me up while I'm working. Some people's pictures I can see on the school computer - it depends on what kind of albums they use.

i love this picture!!!! i love that donald is in it too, up ahead. he's so fun to walk behind and watch his little tail waddle. i personally think he's WAY cuter than the real ducks. and less scary.

can't wait to see if brooklynn's big enough to ride the barnstormer!

Yeah, I thought that was cute of them holding hands. It's hard to get good pictures while everyone is moving.

You'll see what happens with Brooklynn and the Barnstormer this weekend.

OK this series of pics made me cry....how precious and you can see Brooklynn's personality come out and I can practically hear her talking to them...look how amused Tigger is...:lovestruc

She just thinks of all characters as family. :)

Memom, Brooklyn is too cute all decked out for the Fourth of July. I love, love, love the picture of her with Pluto -- it looks like it should be part of a Disney World commercial!

It runs from January 4 until June 27 -- stay four nights, get three nights free -- there is a similar deal on the tickets (seven day ticket for the price of a four day ticket -- which is really not a deal). The room discount is awesome. We were originally booked for the Caribbean Beach Resort (sometimes Wilderness Lodge depending on my mood). Now, we are booked at the Beach Club for the same price as Caribbean preferred room rack rate. :thumbsup2

Beach Club?

Is that your final answer???

great pics of Brooklynn at Toon town!:thumbsup2
Thanks. I'm glad you're enjoying them.

OOh I love the Dealiest Catch and the Northwestern is my favorite. Sig is great. I would have loved to have met him.

Great pics as usual. You capture every little detail, it is wonderful.

Been MIA sorry, moved the board to a new site.

I think I took around 300 pics at POP, sorry, but I will not stay again. too many unruly kids and parents just not caring. The frozen coke was delicious though. On Enchanted we decided they should make it a family suite across at that abandoned part or make it a Pixar themed hotel. I like the Pixar idea. My photo count last month was 1200 for 4 days. Not to bad. :rotfl2:

Did you take advantage of the special that came out today. We are trying to figure out dates to go.

Be back soon and will need to catch up again.

Hope all is well.

Sorry Pop wasn't good for you. We've never run into rowdy kids. We're used to be around tons of kids, though, so our versions of rowdy could be very different. I hope the trip overall was very good. I'm sure it was fun to meet many Disers.

I think a lot of people would agree with you on making the other side of Pop have suites. Maybe that will come true someday, and if it does, I'm pretty sure we'll be among the first to stay there.

Was universe of energy something Brooklyn enjoyed? We haven't done it, but my DS likes dinosaurs. I wonder if this will be something he will enjoy.

We spent a good deal of time at Pooh's play area last time we were there. DS was 2 and the play areas were his favorite part.

Brooklynn was not thrilled with Universe of Energy, because it really doesn't do much. I think she may have fallen asleep during it, actually. I'll have to see if Jill remembers.

Good Morning!

Yes, I do. I think 'proper' is a cute term.

We were there at the same time. Why didn't we know that? We had a great time watching July 4th fireworks from the Poly beach.

I'll be looking forward to any information anyone has about what decorations are up, especially at the resorts.

********************************************

No pictures this morning, because I'm running short on time. I've got to get my things ready, as I'll be leaving from school today to go to AL. I'm keeping Brooklynn tonight while Jill and John go to a birthday party, and then I'm keeping her tomorrow for a while so that they can go get a couple of her big Christmas presents before they run out of them in the stores. I'll check in throughout today from school, and then I'll have more pictures (the important part of the TR) tomorrow night.

Have a fabulous, fun-filled Friday!

good morning MeMom,

For some reason I couldn't sleep this morning and I have been up dising for the past hour. I couldn't help but wonder if you were up yet? :surfweb:

Yep. Although I will say, since I didn't go to sleep until a little after twelve last night (this morning), I did sleep until 3:50. That's almost 4:00!!! It's highly unusual for me to make it to 4:00!

We just missed seeing Mulan.

IMG_2760.jpg

What do you mean you missed seeing her? She's right there in front of you.

Beach Club?

Is that your final answer???

Final answer. No more switching. I wouldn't be able to get as good a deal, and I couldn't live with myself if I passed up the chance to stay at the Beach Club for the price of staying at a moderate. I am still doing a happy dance this morning!

Have a great time in AL this weekend! :goodvibes

Nope, I don't have a fence like that one. I don't actually have a fence at all. My yard backs onto forest, we do have a lot of deer though!

I have never eaten at LeCellier, Oh gasp! I am still a true Canadian. I will have to eat there and see what all the fuss is about. I Love a good steak, and the mousse looks cute and yummy. They should have poutine on the menu, you guys would love it. (fries+gravy+cheese curd)
Declansdad I know you love you some poutine....:thumbsup2

Punkin - I wish I had a husband to BBQ for me, I left my "rockin cook" back in Alabama. :lmao:

Congrats on the election, it was all the talk today in our country too. ;)

Oh I do like to get me some poutine but pooksma is much more likely to get it than I. I prefer to get it in Quebec and I only get there once a year.

Maybe you can tell today is a testing day so I'm catching up on your suddenly prolific updates. :)

You are sooo pretty Dawn...and look great in every color! :yay:

wow.....thanks! i didn't see this until memom quoted you, so sorry i'm just now responding. what a nice thing to wake up to on a friday morning.

I love Brooklyns little pigtails! When you go at the end of this month are you spending any time at Days of Christmas in downtown disney??

Yep. Although I will say, since I didn't go to sleep until a little after twelve last night (this morning), I did sleep until 3:50. That's almost 4:00!!! It's highly unusual for me to make it to 4:00!

Yea! Glad you got near 4 hours of sleep!! :woohoo:

Final answer. No more switching. I wouldn't be able to get as good a deal, and I couldn't live with myself if I passed up the chance to stay at the Beach Club for the price of staying at a moderate. I am still doing a happy dance this morning!

This IS a great deal! I'm happy for you CP! I am going to bring up the deal to DH after this trip...maybe we can fit in another trip! I would LOVE to stay at the CR, but it's so stinkin' expensive-this might be our ticket to stay there! DH wants to try the GF too. Hmmmm...:rolleyes1

MeMom,
I love the pics of Brooklyn with the characters. So, so sweet. She looks adorable all ready for the 4th!!

My Goodness Brooklyn just gets cuter and cuter in each photo! :cutie: I love how you say she thinks of each character as a member of her family. I hope my future children are just like her! :goodvibes

How cool to see all those pictures of the Pooh playground - I have never had the chance to explore that area. Although I don't know how I feel about Darby...what happened to the Christopher Robin that I was raised with? the picture of Brooklynn hula hooping is too cute! :cutie:

Gotta love youtube for a quick Disney pick-me-up sometime!

I was looking at dress up clothes for Brooklynn yesterday. She needs nothing else to put in her room, though. She already has so much. But, she does love to play dress-up, and it was not easy to walk away from the Belle dress and tiara and high heels. I did, though.

I'm thinking more along the lines of getting her a good toy box for Christmas that she can put some of her things in, and then getting her something small for a present. She's still little and won't be disappointed in a weak 'grandma gift' like a toy box, as long as I get her another little bitty thing that makes her happy. Heck, it can still be a box of fruit snacks for her, at this point. She'd be as happy as one of Ariel's clams, and it would help Jill out to have a nice wooden toy box in the living room for Brooklynn to put her things in in there. So, that's probably what I'm going to be doing for her for Christmas instead of dress-up clothes. She's still got a few good dress-up years left in her, so I'll save getting that until she's older and would be less thrilled with a clunky toy box for a gift.

I'll get you some more pictures of Pop in three weeks! :yay:

i youtubed disney and nsync. i was in "heaven" :rotfl: :rotfl2:

1536958150_l.jpg

we met her in 2003 when we ate at her restaurant in savannah. she was so sweet!
you look good as a blonde! i would love to meet her, i like watching her cooking show!

What do you mean you missed seeing her? She's right there in front of you.

Whenever we do meet face to face, remind me I owe you a smack...

Everyone of them!

They surround our iggloos.

or two!

Final answer. No more switching. I wouldn't be able to get as good a deal, and I couldn't live with myself if I passed up the chance to stay at the Beach Club for the price of staying at a moderate. I am still doing a happy dance this morning!

Have a great time in AL this weekend! :goodvibes

She has chosen a resort.
And a fine one it is.
Beaches and Cream right there at your disposal.
An awesome pool.
A short walk to Epcot.
Good job!

Now, have you dressed your album cover properly?

Oh I do like to get me some poutine but pooksma is much more likely to get it than I. I prefer to get it in Quebec and I only get there once a year.

That really doesn't sound like a wonderful combination to me, but I'm willing to try it once.

Maybe you can tell today is a testing day so I'm catching up on your suddenly prolific updates. :)

Oh, very clever. Give 'em a test and keep 'em busy so you can Dis.

You know word gets around about which professors to take and which ones to avoid. Wonder what your students say about you?

Take Professor Diser, 'cuz he gives lots of easy tests just to kill time so he can do his own "work" (little do they know) on the computer.

OR

Don't take Professor Diser, because that guy gives a ton of tests!!!

wow.....thanks! i didn't see this until memom quoted you, so sorry i'm just now responding. what a nice thing to wake up to on a friday morning.

You always look cute and ready to have fun in all of your pictures. Must be nice. I always look 'bedraggled' and worn down.

I love Brooklyns little pigtails! When you go at the end of this month are you spending any time at Days of Christmas in downtown disney??

Absolutely, we are going to Days of Christmas! As a matter of fact, we will most likely be there the first night. Our plans are to check in, go to Animal Kingdom, then AKL if we find out the tree is up, then to DTD so that Brooklynn can see Santa.

Why? Do you want something from there before your trip? You know I don't mind sending it to you, if you do.

Yea! Glad you got near 4 hours of sleep!! :woohoo:

This IS a great deal! I'm happy for you CP! I am going to bring up the deal to DH after this trip...maybe we can fit in another trip! I would LOVE to stay at the CR, but it's so stinkin' expensive-this might be our ticket to stay there! DH wants to try the GF too. Hmmmm...:rolleyes1

MeMom,
I love the pics of Brooklyn with the characters. So, so sweet. She looks adorable all ready for the 4th!!

You'll probably never read this response, because you are presently IN Disney World! I hope you are already having a great time at the beautiful Wilderness Lodge!!!

My Goodness Brooklyn just gets cuter and cuter in each photo! :cutie: I love how you say she thinks of each character as a member of her family. I hope my future children are just like her! :goodvibes

She has grown up with them, and she is not a bit shy with them. You can just see a great big smile come over her whole face when she sees them, like, "There's my old pal!"

How cool to see all those pictures of the Pooh playground - I have never had the chance to explore that area. Although I don't know how I feel about Darby...what happened to the Christopher Robin that I was raised with? the picture of Brooklynn hula hooping is too cute! :cutie:

A few people have written about being upset about the Christopher Robin thing. I'd love to hear a behind-the-scenes official Disney explanation. Maybe Chris just didn't want to come and live in the U.S.

i totally agree with this.

We'll do some research and see if we can come up with an answer.

I'm glad you are joining us. I hope you're enjoying the report.

i youtubed disney and nsync. i was in "heaven" :rotfl: :rotfl2:

you look good as a blonde! i would love to meet her, i like watching her cooking show!

I just want her kitchen.

And her paycheck!!!

*****************************************

I went to Jill's from school yesterday. Brooklynn and I had a good time last night while Jill and John went out with friends to eat and then go bowling. It was good for them to get out and just get to be kids again, and I loved spending time with my little girlie. We ate Wendy's and watched Zach and Cody, and then we danced to one of her CDs. She fell asleep on a blanket on the floor watching TV.

Jill and John came in late and kissed on her and took her to her bed. She acknowledged them, but she never remembered they were there.

This morning, they were up and gone before she ever woke up. They wanted to get to the Toys R Us sale before the good stuff was gone. They were very successful, and while on their outing, they heard the rumor that Santa Claus was going to be very good to their precious little girl this year.

She woke up a short time before they got home, and we danced some more. She's such a terrible dancer that it's funny. It's more like running in circles and pretending she's a bobble-head all at once. There's not an ounce of rhythm in it, but it's just adorable.

As bad as it is, it is better than my dancing, that's for sure!

And I know you will all be very surprised to know that the movie she put in to be playing in the background while we were dancing and playing with baby dolls and Flounder (toys of choice this morning) was

_ _ _ _ _ _ _.

May I have an L, please?

How about an M?

I'd like to solve the puzzle.

Anyway, we enjoyed a breakfast of cinnamon rolls, and then I left them to have the rest of their weekend to themselves. I always want to be helpful, but I never want to overstay my welcome. The next time I see them, it will be to pile up in the rental van and head to Disney World.

Now, back to Fourth of July.

It was time for princess interaction.

Next up is Barnstormer. Jill and John love this ride. Jill was not carrying AvaGarrett at the time, so she was ready to go. It was her last ride on it for a while.

They wanted to see if Brooklynn was tall enough. They very much wanted her to be. Next post, we'll see what happens.

To the delight of her parents, despite the fact that the child was a centimeter shy of the line, the CM waved her on through.

The grandmother (me) had a little concern, but she said nothing, as she is not the parent.

We loaded the cars in this order - me in front, so I could turn around and take pictures, Jill and Brooklynn next, and John behind them.

The grandmother (me) continued to be concerned, but it was a done deal. The child was going to storm the barn with her delighted parents.

What follows is a funny, but not pretty, sight. I have forever been traumatized because of seeing Brooklynn like this.

Join us now on this fun(?) journey.

By the way, I let Jill decide whether or not to put these up. I wasn't sure if she wanted to show the world how she tortured her child, but she said you guys were all friends and deserved to see the crime. Um, the fun.

Jill is talking Brooklynn through the beginning, explaining what will happen.

Brooklynn is a little unsure of this completely new ride. She and I are usually playing on the playground or over getting some fruit at the fruit stand while Jill and John are riding this.

Keep this sweet little trusting face in mind.

IMG_3087.jpg

What is to follow is a complete betrayal of all parental trust.

Look how relaxed Jill is.

IMG_3088.jpg

Okay, now this is getting a little iffy. Hold on to me, Mom!

IMG_3089.jpg

And now, the picture that is forever etched into my mind.

As I was turned backward, snapping away with all I had to get the complete effect, I captured this horrifying second in time.

IMG_3090.jpg

That was enough for Brooklynn.

She buried her head into Jill's stomach.

IMG_3091.jpg

See how traumatized Jill is.

IMG_3092.jpg

My poor baby.

IMG_3093.jpg

My poor, poor baby.

IMG_3094.jpg

Brooklynn looked like she wanted to upchuck.

IMG_3095.jpg

This is her 'thank heavens I am alive' look.

IMG_3096.jpg

So, whereas for many of you Tower of Terror is 13 floors of sheer terror, this was seventeen seconds of terror for our little Brooklynn.

When asked if she wants to ride the airplane rollercoaster again, Brooklynn will quickly shake her head and tell you no!

In her almost 2.3 years of life, that picture was the worst 2.3 seconds of all. I don't think I will ever forget that ride as long as I live.

When she is a teenager and needs ammunition against her very unfair parents - the ones that in her mind will exist solely to make her life miserable - I will be there to support her and supply an endless viewing of these pictures as proof that they have forever had it out for her.

When Jill and John try to take AvaGarrett on his/her first Barnstormer ride, the grandmother (me) will snatch him/her away and run for the fruit stand!
