A Ten Day Ride on A Magic Camel - Almost Finished Trip Report

Great pics MeMom!!! I really wish we had booked at Pop for when we go in November! It just looks so fun!!!:goodvibes

I'm sure there will be many future trips with Hollie, and you can try different resorts often. We have been very happy with Pop, and it sure works well with our budget!

oh your one to talk about number of trips. :rotfl2:

I think of them as Enchanted Encounters. :lmao:

I am excited to stay there. Your pics comvinced me. also my wallet but the pics certainly helped.

I suppose we did get the opportunity to 'brag' several times this year, too.
This coming year is going to be a whole 'nuther story! There will be very little bragging. :sad1:

I am happy enough, though, to know that Jill gets to go in October, we all get to go at Thanksgiving, and then we hopefully get to do another ten day trip next summer. I'm going to be booking that one by the end of August. We also are going to see a Disney on Ice show in September, so that should give me a good dose of Disney to help the long wait to November. And if I'm really, really, really lucky, I might get to do a short spring break trip, but that's very iffy.

Enchanted Encounters - very cute way to put it! I know you guys will have a good time getting to meet each other.

Now for a morning walk around Pop Century on Day Two - June 29th. This is the day Jill will excitedly get to ride Toy Story Midway Mania.
But not yet.
She's still asleep during these pictures, so walk quietly.

Of course, one of the first faces you see in the morning at Pop belongs to a bunny.

IMG_0576.jpg

Nothing is open yet, so there will be no shopping.

IMG_0577.jpg

The biggest secret is not talking yet,

IMG_0578.jpg

but it will be spilling the secret pretty much all day long.
Everywhere you go!

We had originally planned to do EMH at Epcot, but then we found out it was the last day of the Star Wars stuff at Hollywood Studios, so we rearranged so that we could see that.

IMG_0579.jpg

Some not good pictures of the shadowboxes.

IMG_0580.jpg

IMG_0581.jpg

Just about all of these things were scattered all over my house when Jill was a little girl.

IMG_0582.jpg

Only in our house, it was 'Pabbage Catch' and 'My Little Pone-ty'. She used to talk somewhat like Brooklynn does now.

These were from more back in my days.

IMG_0583.jpg

I had this Sea Hunt book.

IMG_0584.jpg

I watched Jeannie and Laugh-In.

And Beaver and Adam 12. And, of course, our relatives, The Beverly Hillbillies.

IMG_0585.jpg

I thought Kent McCord was incredibly handsome.
Wonder what he's doing these days?

Long ago, back in the days when you had to walk to school barefoot uphill both ways on a burning hot snowy day, you also even had to manually extricate your ice cubes.

IMG_0586.jpg

Those were the days -Mickey Mouse Club - Spin and Marty episodes were my favorite.

IMG_0587.jpg

Cootie and Pixie Stix - oh, what today's kids are missing!

IMG_0588.jpg

Over to the kids TV viewing area. I thought this picture was cute, since everything in it was smiling.

IMG_0589.jpg

For those of us who do not know how to do the hustle, there are Cliff's Notes.

IMG_0590.jpg

An attempt to scare people into not feeding the birds.

IMG_0592.jpg

It brings to mind a picnic area we stopped at once on a trip. There was a creek, and instead of there being a sign that said Do Not Go Near the Creek, which would have done no good for so many, the sign boldly proclaimed Poisonous Snake Area. Yeah, that did a whole lot better, I imagine!

The steps to the pool and a MeMom shadow.

IMG_0594.jpg

I thought this was interesting. There wasn't anyone around, so I guess the balls had just sort of floated this way due to the pump action/wind/water flow.

IMG_0596.jpg

I watched for a minute. It looked like this guy went over to talk to the new guy and invite him to join the crowd.

IMG_0597.jpg

The Nemo ball said he felt 'different', and he'd rather not join them.

IMG_0600.jpg

Is there anyone else on the planet who can make a soap opera out of rubber pool balls? I'm thinking maybe not. I'm sorry you know me.

I can't look at the pictures but a second, though, because I'm claustrophobic, and it bothers me that Nemo is inside that ball and cannot breathe.
I can't stand snowglobes, either.

Another bunny.

IMG_0605.jpg

They're fun to watch. They're so peaceful, and they are so accustomed to humans that they let you get very close to observe them.

Wonderful pics to start my day. Almost makes me wish we were back there this time. But it wouldn't be the same without DS.

Thanks:thumbsup2

A very quiet pool.

IMG_0606.jpg

A sliver of a moon high over Pop.

IMG_0617.jpg

IMG_0622.jpg

Into the food court. Just a couple of information pictures, for those who want to know anything about drinks.

IMG_0625.jpg

IMG_0626.jpg

Snack choices.

IMG_0627.jpg

IMG_0629.jpg

But those would be for later in the day.
For now, I was more interested in these.

IMG_0630.jpg

They have delicious banana nut bread.

And these.

IMG_0631.jpg

IMG_0632.jpg

I got a piece of banana bread and went and sat out by the pool to eat it.

It was getting a little lighter.

IMG_0633.jpg

I thought this tree was interesting. It looks like you could draw a face on it and would look like some kind of Zulu warrior mask.

IMG_0634.jpg

I already apologized that you know me, right?

IMG_0635.jpg

It made me

IMG_0636.jpg

to be sitting out at the pool at Pop eating that good banana bread.

I decided to go ahead and take the others their breakfast so that they wouldn't have to go down later.

I just got a variety, and it was more than enough, as always.

IMG_0637.jpg

IMG_0638.jpg

Breakfast in bed at Pop. Not a bad set-up.

IMG_0641.jpg

I don't get all excited about towel animals, but I figured I'd show you a picture of one that I got.

IMG_0646.jpg

My window.

IMG_0649.jpg

Part of Jill's window.

A lonely sight that will hopefully someday come to life.

IMG_0652.jpg

IMG_0654.jpg

IMG_0656.jpg

More interesting musical choices.

IMG_0655.jpg

Love the early morning stroll. Oh, how I wish I was at Disney right now. I have never stayed on site because I am cheap but seeing your pictures from your trips really makes me want to stay at POP.

And the last few, before we really do get on a bus and go to Hollywood Studios. I promise.

Historical facts, in case you wish to mix education with relaxation on your vacation.

IMG_0659.jpg

IMG_0658.jpg

IMG_0657.jpg

I went on down to Everything Pop to browse while I waited for the others to get ready.

IMG_0661.jpg

IMG_0662.jpg

I'll have one pair of every one of these, please.

IMG_0664.jpg

IMG_0665.jpg

Remember, MeMom, we're just browsing!

IMG_0666.jpg

IMG_0667.jpg

Holiday decorations.

IMG_0668.jpg

Before I could do any monetary damage, Jill showed up and whisked me off. How did she know where to find me?

Here we are - ready to go meet up with Buzz and Woody and all the gang.

IMG_0669.jpg

i wish i could get up early like memom and take quiet walks around the resort like that with NO ONE around! i'm so not a morning person though.

Just about all of these things were scattered all over my house when Jill was a little girl.

IMG_0582.jpg

how old is jill? i bet we're about the same age. i just turned 32. i had a miss piggy puppet that i LOVED that looks just like the one in this picture. my mom still has that thing because i carried it everywhere with me. i remember the year the cabbage patch dolls came out. i was 7 and my mom and grandma went to toys r us in rivergate to get me one for christmas and had to fight for it. it was ridiculous. his name was delbert dicky and he was bald. i still have him.

I watched Jeannie and Laugh-In.

i watched laugh-in on nick at night ALL the time. my grandma got a kick out of the fact that i liked that show.

here come the judge......here come the judge......

An attempt to scare people into not feeding the birds.

THANK YOU, DISNEY!!!!!!!!!!

I watched for a minute. It looked like this guy went over to talk to the new guy and invite him to join the crowd.

OMG.......this is just too funny!!!!!! you have quite an imagination. :goodvibes

IMG_0656.jpg

i don't get it! what's the big problem with finishing this? i really want to stay there someday. i feel like i was mistakenly born in the '70's and i was supposed to be born in the '20's.

my dad would be so proud that they gave props to his beloved miami dolphins. he was very happy that new england didn't win the super bowl last year as not to ruin their record! he grew up in miami and he's a die-hard fan. and yes, they're horrible lately....like for the last, oh, 20 years. he's also a vandy fan, hence how i turned out. but i grew up knowing that you stick by your team, even if they're really bad!!! :rotfl:

can't wait to hear about DHS and toy story mania!!!

Looking at all of the Shadowboxes brought back wonderful memories. I still have my autogragh picture from Beaver. I still remember singing along with the gang on the Micky Mouse Club, Annette and Mike were my favorite. At Pop Century when they do the twist and the hustle I want to dance along. Being born in the 50's makes Pop Century a reminder of life experiences not just a history book. That is one of the reasons it is my favorite value resort(along with the price).

The gang looked like they were excided to be on the way to meet Buzz and Woody, great picture.

fantastic update and pics.

I have the castle address book there in one of the pics.

I am really excited to try POP. The banana nut bread sounds good. I love that.

Are you going next year the same time? If so I will be there to, maybe we will run into each other.

I love those morning pictures.. I got the feeling of excitement like I was just getting ready to go to the park. I dont' get up quite as early as you do, but as soon as I am ready to go, there are still really no people around. In 06 when I took my Mom to AKL I got up and had bkfst by the pool while she was getting ready. I was all by myself :)

i also had the cabbage patch and my little ponies scattered all over the house. i loved playing with them... oh the memories.

I am an 80's child...I remember playing with the Original Nintendo when it first came out. My cousins and I had gotten it for xmas and we played it all day xmas day. The first game boy looks soo old compared to what is out now. Of course also played with the cabbage patch dolls (still have mine too) and my little ponies...and also remember reading Sweet Valley Twins and Sweet Valley High---loved those books along with the Babysitters Club. Just wished I would have thought to keep my Care Bear! I had to go buy a replacement one when they came out again.

It definitely makes my day when I see that there's an update! Especially if it includes an intriguing soap opera about beach balls! I have never stayed on site before but Pop seems like SO much fun! I can't do consecutive park days because my health issues just wouldn't allow it so having some "rest days" at a resort like Pop would still be so much fun! Seems like there's a ton to discover each time. Keep it up! :thumbsup2

I'm feeling so much better. Thanks MeMom

Your photos are great. The shadowboxes at Pop bring back so many memories. I remember my Cabbage Patch Dolls. I think I may have to visit Pop this trip.

Hello MeMom and Brooklynnsmommy! I thought I should come out of lurkdom to say hello and to tell you what a great trip report this is so far. I'm loving all of the photos, especially the ones of Pop. My DH & I are staying there in September and I can't wait. It looks like so much fun!

I'm looking forward to reading all about your adventures and seeing more great photos! :goodvibes

I absolutely loved this update. Your narrative is hilarious and the pictures are great. Your room window is so cute. I'm going to try my best to get up early like that once or twice this trip. Your pictures are so awesome with no people in them. Looks like a great time to be out walking around!! In fact, this time next week we should be checking in at POP if all goes well. Plans are to unpack, spend some time by the pool, have some supper and then go see the Castle!!! :)

Cathy

I can't believe I just found your TR! The kiss of Piglet, the Laugh Floor spotlight, beach ball soap opera...I am all caught up now. Great pictures and stories as always! :thumbsup2

As always, I was very excited to find a new MeMom update!!!

What a nice, peaceful, early morning walk around Pop!

Mmmmm, those Pop waffles and bacon sure look good!

I love the early morning Pop pictures! You also got some great pictures of the shadowboxes - I was really excited to see the 1980's one, since I was born in '84 and had (still have, actually) the first Cabbage Patch doll, and was very into My Little Pony, Smurfs, Strawberry Shortcake, and Care Bears... :cloud9: My sister got a not-so-great picture of me trying to hug the shadowbox.

The food portions at the food court are very generous, aren't they? I usually split everything with somebody else, or if no one else wanted to share, I just asked for the kid-size portions - I sometimes felt guilty doing it, but I felt even guiltier throwing away food.

Can't wait for DHS :thumbsup2

More great pics MeMom! Just what time were you up and around anyway?

By the way, this is post number 5000 for me.
