A Ten Day Ride on A Magic Camel - Almost Finished Trip Report

Just got caught up, I was a few updates behind. Let's see if I can remember everything I wanted to comment on...

I LOVE your flowers collage! What a great idea, so so pretty.

Your pin collection makes me want to start one, but my "purge, get rid of everything you don't need" side of myself cannot think of a good reason to start one! :headache:

I enjoy all your pictures, all the details are just great. I hope to stay at POP sometime. We were going to add on a couple days to our trip in November and stay at POP, but I don't think it's going to happen...

I laughed out loud at your beach ball soap opera. :rotfl:

Looking forward to more!

i'm so not a morning person though.
how old is jill? i bet we're about the same age. i just turned 32.

i remember the year the cabbage patch dolls came out. i was 7 and my mom and grandma went to toys r us in rivergate to get me one for christmas and had to fight for it. it was ridiculous. his name was delbert dicky and he was bald. i still have him.

OMG.......this is just too funny!!!!!! you have quite an imagination. :goodvibes

i don't get it! what's the big problem with finishing this?

My morning walks - it's pretty much me, a few CMs, and some bunnies.

You are a few years older than Jill. She was born in 1981. Her first 'Pabbage Catch' dolls were Kelly and Toby. She spent hours with them riding them on the stroller, feeding them plastic Fisher-Price food, reading to them, etc.

My imagination is warped.

I have a feeling that if you were in charge of Pop Century there would be some serious action going on across the lake. The rumors persist that many of them will be suites, so it'll be interesting to see if that comes true.

Looking at all of the Shadowboxes brought back wonderful memories. I still have my autogragh picture from Beaver. I still remember singing along with the gang on the Micky Mouse Club, Annette and Mike were my favorite. At Pop Century when they do the twist and the hustle I want to dance along. Being born in the 50's makes Pop Century a reminder of life experiences not just a history book. That is one of the reasons it is my favorite value resort(along with the price).

The gang looked like they were excided to be on the way to meet Buzz and Woody, great picture.

I'm more of a watcher than a dancer. Maybe sometime our trips will overlap and we'll have a fifties meet out by the bowling pin pool.

Did you notice Jill's Toy Story shirt? She bought it especially to wear on that day.

I have the castle address book there in one of the pics.

I am really excited to try POP. The banana nut bread sounds good. I love that.

Are you going next year the same time? If so I will be there to, maybe we will run into each other.

Jill got a cool address book, too. It's the one with all the characters.

Definitely get a piece of banana bread and go sit out by the pool and just enjoy being there. Life feels really good when you're doing that!

You're going the Fourth next year? Not for us, I don't think, because we're planning to go as late as possible in July and early August right before school starts. I have to look at the 2009 calendar soon, and we're planning to book by the end of this August to go ahead and get our rooms. We're making it later again, like last year, because it's better for me to do it after summer school and church camp, so I have something to look forward to, and because Jill is hoping to have another baby in 2009. If she has another one in the spring, going later in July gives them a few extra weeks for the baby to be more settled - or them to be more settled. I hate that we will miss you, because we would definitely have planned to meet. We will someday, I'm sure, between all of our comings and goings.

I love those morning pictures.. I got the feeling of excitement like I was just getting ready to go to the park. I dont' get up quite as early as you do, but as soon as I am ready to go, there are still really no people around. In 06 when I took my Mom to AKL I got up and had bkfst by the pool while she was getting ready. I was all by myself :)

i also had the cabbage patch and my little ponies scattered all over the house. i loved playing with them... oh the memories.

I bet sitting out by the AKL pool was very nice!

One day all of you girls will have a bunch of sweet little boys and girls spreading those treasures all over the house, too. You'll get to play with them again and make those sweet memories with your own little ones.

I am an 80's child...I remember playing with the Original Nintendo when it first came out. My cousins and I had gotten it for xmas and we played it all day xmas day. The first game boy looks soo old compared to what is out now. Of course also played with the cabbage patch dolls (still have mine too) and my little ponies...and also remember reading Sweet Valley Twins and Sweet Valley High---loved those books along with the Babysitters Club. Just wished I would have thought to keep my Care Bear! I had to go buy a replacement one when they came out again.

Jill read all of those Sweet Valley books, too. She read everything she could get her hands on. Trent thought it was kind of stupid to read anything more than the minimum required amount of reading to get by. Drew pretty much broke out in hives at the sight of books! :rotfl:

We had several Care Bears, too. Times were good in Care-a-Lot!

It definitely makes my day when I see that there's an update! Especially if it includes an intriguing soap opera about beach balls! I have never stayed on site before but Pop seems like SO much fun! I can't do consecutive park days because my health issues just wouldn't allow it so having some "rest days" at a resort like Pop would still be so much fun!

Yes, you ought to give on-site a try. That way on your off days, you'd still be in the midst of the magic. I'm glad you like the updates, too.

I'm feeling so much better. Thanks MeMom

Your photos are great. The shadowboxes at Pop bring back so many memories. I remember my Cabbage Patch Dolls. I think I may have to visit Pop this trip.

Good for the migraine being gone. What were your Cabbage Patch Kids' names?

Hello MeMom and Brooklynnsmommy! I thought I should come out of lurkdom to say hello and to tell you what a great trip report this is so far. I'm loving all of the photos, especially the ones of Pop. My DH & I are staying there in September and I can't wait. It looks like so much fun!
I'm looking forward to reading all about your adventures and seeing more great photos! :goodvibes

We're glad to have you reading along, and we always appreciate the comments. I hope you'll feel at home on this report.

I absolutely loved this update. Your narrative is hilarious and the pictures are great. Your room window is so cute. I'm going to try my best to get up early like that once or twice this trip. Your pictures are so awesome with no people in them. Looks like a great time to be out walking around!! In fact, this time next week we should be checking in at POP if all goes well. Plans are to unpack, spend some time by the pool, have some supper and then go see the Castle!!! :)

Cathy

Enjoy those early morning walks. Call me and let me walk along. I'll be up!

I can't believe I just found your TR! The kiss of Piglet, the Laugh Floor spotlight, beach ball soap opera...I am all caught up now. Great pictures and stories as always! :thumbsup2

I'm glad you're back with us. I really wish I had the video of the Laugh Factory to share.

As always, I was very excited to find a new MeMom update!!!
What a nice, peaceful, early morning walk around Pop!
Mmmmm, those Pop waffles and bacon sure look good!

Those waffles are better than any waffles I ever make at home!

I love the early morning Pop pictures! You also got some great pictures of the shadowboxes - I was really excited to see the 1980's one, since I was born in '84 and had (still have, actually) the first Cabbage Patch doll, and was very into My Little Pony, Smurfs, Strawberry Shortcake, and Care Bears... :cloud9: My sister got a not-so-great picture of me trying to hug the shadowbox.

The food portions at the food court are very generous, aren't they? I usually split everything with somebody else, or if no one else wanted to share, I just asked for the kid-size portions - I sometimes felt guilty doing it, but I felt even guiltier throwing away food.

I do the same thing. It is a shame how much food we waste when we're there, and I do buy kids' meals at counter services sometimes. Either that or Jill and I might share a grown-up meal.

You're the same age as Trent. Do you remember your CPK's names?

More great pics MeMom! Just what time were you up and around anyway?

By the way, this is post number 5000 for me.

Probably around 5:30, so not too early.
Thanks for spending that coveted #5000 on us. We feel honored!

Your flower collage is beautiful. Great idea! :flower3:

Love your pin collection!

The pop photos are great. What a nice early morning walk.
The beach balls are too cute, what a great story. :rotfl:
I am even more excited about staying there now.
I was excited to see all the choices at the food court. I have read the menu, but its even better to see it.

I was typing over some of you last time.

Great update! Breakfast looks yummy! Loved the beach ball soap opera! :lmao:

It does look good, doesn't it?

What other old woman do you know that thinks up this crazy stuff? I bet you can't think of another one. Good for you. It means you only know one nutcase.

Thanks on the collage compliment.

I fought off the pin collecting for a long time until I came up with the push pin idea from another teacher. I'm still going to be reasonable about it, though.

Hopefully, you will have many trips is the future and can try out many resorts.

Oh, I still have my cabbage patch dolls and strawberry shortcake and rainbow brite dolls!! I watched the Adams Family, Leave it to Beaver, The Munsters, and on and on!! Geez, am I showing my age? :rotfl:

I enjoyed looking at the pins when putting them on the corkboard, too. They are some pretty expensive thumbtacks, though!

It is always cool to see things in detail. I like it when I see menu boards and pictures that give close-ups, too, so I like to do the same for our friends. I'm excited that you are getting to go there!

Sounds like you are in the right place! And your CPK's names were...?

Do you know these songs?

Starlight, Rainbow Brite....

Cabbage Patch Kids, growing in the garden....

They're creepy and they're spooky....

Yep, you're in the right place!

Wonderful pics...thanks for the update! And are my eyes deceiving me or does Brooklynn resemble her daddy?!

Oh my word!!!

The one I really started belting out is (without waking up Hollie!)

mysterious and spooky, there all together ooky
The Adamms family!!!

:lmao:

Cabbage patch kids, growing in the sun!

My CPK names were: Holly Ann (she was a redheaded twin)
My blond one is: Amanda Nicole:goodvibes

I have been trying to find the Adamms Family and the Munsters barbies on ebay for the past 2 years!! Everytime I bid on them, they end up selling for over $200 bucks a piece!!! I want to add them to my collection (I have over 200) but not that bad!

It depends on her expressions. She looks like him sometime, and probably more often because of her light eyes. She looks a lot like Jill's baby pictures, too, though, but Jill had darker hair and not quite such chubby cheeks. She's definitely a mix of both, and depending on her expressions and demeanor, she can look like both within a matter of seconds. She does look like him a lot in that particular picture, I agree.

She called and told me about her jump party last night. She said, "I jump!" Jill said she was demonstrating for me, too. :)

Wowser! That's a bunch o' money! I guess I wish I had all the kids' toys stuffed away somewhere right now. I could sell them and pay for another Disney trip! ;)

Your CPK's had good names. Most of them had one normal name and then one slightly unusual one - like Jennifer Charmaine, Amy Monella, Jeremy Wilfred, or something. I surely know we looked at many of them and saw lots of interesting names. They have the 25th Anniversary dolls out now, I noticed the other day.

You are so right about the names! Mine was Eggy Linda. :confused3 I just asked my mother if it was Peggy Linda, since I had a speech problem for years, but she said no, it was indeed Eggy Linda, and she only knows that because she remembered thinking it was "weird." :lmao:

I forgot to say in my last post that I LOVE the flower collage. That is such a fantastic idea, and they are gorgeous pictures. I love Florida flowers.

I'm definitely a child of the 80s. My Cabbage Patch Kids were my most prized possessions. My first and favorite was Molly Bernadina.

I'll take a waffle and some banana nut bread. Oh, and hot chocolate.

What time did you get up that morning?

I have to jump in with my Cabbage Patch kids' names! My first one was a little bald boy named Fitz Floyd and my second one was a girl with a brown ponytail Cherry Anastastia.

I still have them -- they are packed away in my closet! :goodvibes

Love the early morning Pop pictures!! I always forget how much I love it there!! I love how they have their own waffles haha....youre comments are HILARIOUS...I for one am HAPPY to know you!

A fifties meet sounds great.

Jill's shirt was just the outfit to wear to meet Buzz, Woody, and the gang.

My Cabbage Patch Kids were named Robin Bernadena, Nolan Evan and Boris Clark. The funny thing is that I forgotten these names until this thread. Guess what DS5 name is .....Evan. I wonder if the CPK had anything to do with? Glad I didn't subconciously like the name Boris.

Had to think....my first Cabbage Patch Kids name was Heidi Amidala. I had a boy too, but I don't remember his name. It's funny most of the toys I played with in the 80's are back out. My daughter has Care Bears, Strawberry Shortcake, Little Ponies, and Cabbage Patch Kids. It's cool!

Wonderful pics to start my day. Almost makes me wish we were back there this time. But it wouldn't be the same without DS.

How did he enjoy his mini-vacation? I know you are all looking forward to another big trip next year!

Love the early morning stroll. Oh, how I wish I was at Disney right now. I have never stayed on site because I am cheap but seeing your pictures from your trips really makes me want to stay at POP.

I would say you should give on-site a try just once - just so you can have that full Disney experience. Even if it's just for a couple of nights, it would be fun, I think.

You are so right about the names! Mine was Eggy Linda. :confused3 I just asked my mother if it was Peggy Linda, since I had a speech problem for years, but she said no, it was indeed Eggy Linda, and she only knows that because she remembered thinking it was "weird." :lmao:

Eggy? Yeah, that one is pretty unique. Florida flowers are pretty. I'd love to see Hawaii's flowers, too. I'm sure they are amazing!

I'll take a waffle and some banana nut bread. Oh, and hot chocolate.

What time did you get up that morning?

I've never had their hot chocolate. I'll have to try it sometime. I normally get up somewhere in the three o'clock hour, but I waited to go out walking until at least 5 or 5:15. I didn't want them to think I was too much of a weirdo/nightstalker. They probably thought the 5 a.m. camera lady was weird enough, but 4 a.m. might have been a little too creepy.

I have to jump in with my Cabbage Patch kids' names! My first one was a little bald boy named Fitz Floyd and my second one was a girl with a brown ponytail Cherry Anastastia.

I still have them -- they are packed away in my closet! :goodvibes

Isn't it fun to recall the names and the good times you had with them? Jill claims I sold most of her childhood toys at yard sales so we could eat and have electricity, and that is probably true. When times got tough, we'd pull stuff off walls and out of closets and have a yard sale!

Love the early morning Pop pictures!! I always forget how much I love it there!! I love how they have their own waffles haha....youre comments are HILARIOUS...I for one am HAPPY to know you!

I wonder if any other resorts have logo waffles? I'm happy to know you, too, and hope we get to meet sometime during the next year on some of our trips.

A fifties meet sounds great. Jill's shirt was just the outfit to wear to meet Buzz, Woody, and the gang.

She was so proud of her Disney Store find and couldn't wait to wear it to ride TSMM. What are you doing at the end of next July?

My Cabbage Patch Kids were named Robin Bernadena, Nolan Evan and Boris Clark. The funny thing is that I forgotten these names until this thread. Guess what DS5 name is .....Evan. I wonder if the CPK had anything to do with? Glad I didn't subconciously like the name Boris.

I'm sure Evan appreciates being Evan, not Boris. :thumbsup2

I like Heidi for a little girl's name. Wonder if Brooklynn would like a little sister named Heidi? ;) That's so true about all of that 80s stuff coming back around - a lot of it, actually.
