We are heading to Disney in September and we're celebrating the exact same thing! My son will be 2 on Friday and his mom finally signed the papers allowing him to be adopted on June 29. It is definitely something great to celebrate!
Congratulations to you and your son! Adopting from foster care is the most beautiful thing I have ever experienced.
Adding my congrats (and a written scream of joy)! We are celebrating the First Anniversary of my DS's adoption from foster care when we go in December. Similar to your situation -- we came together when he was 2 weeks old and the adoption was finalized exactly 9 months later.
So, so happy for you all! They don't make a button big enough to explain all there is to celebrate about adoption.
We are also celebrating family, our son who will be 11 in 10 days is adopted and has been with us for 4 years and finally last year we got the adoption order, but had delays getting a birth certificate which we required to get passports...
We are soooooooo excited as this is also our first trip to WDW and he has never seen anything like it before, poor guy had never even been to the zoo when he moved in with us.....
Congrats to all the adoptive parents....adoption has brought much joy and some heartache to our family, but we couldnt imagine it any other way
We are part of a LARGE blended Family, growing up I had cousins and uncles who where adopted when adopting another race just wasn't the thing but my DGP (bless them) did it anyway. DD has cousins who are adopted and we love them all the more because of how our family got them, truely amazing that families are created and not born!
Congratulations!!!! We adopted a little girl from Ethiopia in 2007 and are seriously considering adopting from foster care next.
I'm so happy you and your son found each other!!
Someone mentioned this on another thread a while back (so I can't take credit ) but Disney is such a cool place to celebrate adoption because of all the non-traditional/adoptive families in its movies. Lilo & Stitch, Tarzan, Meet the Robinsons, etc.
