A Simple Guide to Making an Autograph Book

I am so excited to try these ideas out! I consider myself crafty and creative, but sometimes I need a little direction. I haven't even read but two posts and already I can't wait to start and have just subscribed. I just decided to make my own books for our December '10 trip and this will be a huge help! I love all of the pages I can use, especially for the character meals. As soon as the kids are home for the summer (2 days!), I'm going to plan all my summer Disney projects so when I start school back in the fall I'm not behind already! Thanks so much!
Jessica

Welcome aboard! :welcome:

Question for all you pros out there: I have roughly a bazillion cards ready to be printed. We're going to be doing character meals at 1900 Park Fare (breakfast), Akershus (breakfast), Crystal Palace (dinner), Cinderella's Royal Table (lunch), Garden Grill (dinner), and Ohana (breakfast). So my question is this: since there is already quite a bit of character overlap between the character meals, should I add the regular autograph cards for those characters as well or skip them to cut down on the number of cards in the book? :confused3 We're going to be there for 10 days if that makes a difference.

I think I'm suffering from planning overload. Passports & autographs & T shirts, oh my!

:rotfl2: I felt the same way, but it was totally worth it in the end! If you are planning on doing all of those character meals, I would make a separate book for character meals. It will make your park book so much lighter and thinner! :goodvibes

LOL...you sound like me from my last trip in October 09! I was the same way...hence the same reason I am up right now after midnight planning for our next one in September!
I did two autograph books, one for the all of the characters I thought we'd see in the parks and another just for the character dining. It was worth it and made it much easier to carry!

Good luck and have fun!

Thanks for the input! I guess I'll be doing two books then. I'm printing today...hope my printer doesn't keel over  ....especially since I still have a handful of T shirts transfers to print...and all of the Epcot passports, and activity books...and my itinerary book, oh and the kids' ID cards.....obsessive much? :rotfl:

First, thanks for the welcome MusicMouse!

Catpowers-you sound like me! I have this whole list of things I want accomplished (pretty much the same as your projects) and am just getting started! Someone suggested the "family" book, and even though my son is not currently going for it, I think that is what I'm going to due. I think that I may due all the character meal pages (we are going to three) and then do some blanks as I'm not sure how much we are going to be looking for particular characters. Is there also a thread somewhere for the Epcot passports? I'm also going to make travel journals for the kids as well. Yes, it's obsessive, but fun!:yay:

Well I finished mine about 2 months ago. Mine is not exactly just an autograph book because it serves as an announcement of DD's surprise trip too, but I finally plucked up the courage to post a few pics. They are on my Double Digit Dance thread from yesterday http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2494972&page=3, post #32 on page 3 of the thread. I will do some more when I get time - just had to satisfy myself that I would manage to post pics and then had to wait for DD to fall asleep ;)

Jessica, if you PM me, I will send you the file to print the Epcot Passports. :goodvibes

Now they are stating they'll refund my order, not by credit card that I used mind you, but by cash. Nervous about getting that back.

Out of curiousity, did you get your refund? If not, I would check with your credit card company. I'm not sure if there would be different laws because it's out of the country but in the US the company isn't supposed to be able to charge you for your purchase until it actually ships (drives my husband crazy when something is backordered and a charge pops up 4 weeks after the initial purchase). So, maybe, even if Artscow doesn't refund the money, your credit card company will...

Just came across this thread and you guys are great.

Question for you? Does artscow do matte prints? and the signatures stay on ok on them?

I have 3 kids going and staying 9 nights. s I was thinking about printing the matte pics and doing the one metal ring binder method.

Yes, Artscow does offer a matte option for prints, and a Sharpie works just fine on them. :goodvibes

Hey ladies, hoping someone can help answer a question. I made the kids autograph book for our trip in Sept. and had them printed through Snapfish. I received them today and they are printed on glossy paper. Do I need to make new books printed on matte paper? I didn't even see an option for what finish I wanted and didn't even think about it until after I had ordered.

So, will these books be ok or should I make some new ones:confused3

The matte finish is only available for individual prints. The Sharpies work on the glossy pages, too. You should be fine! :goodvibes

Just finishing up my book and I need some help on some of the extra pages I'm doing

On the extra pages I'm doing a "collage" of common characters found at those certain parks.

So for instance we are doing the Tusker house breakfast so I have all the characters we'll eat with on their own page but then I want to do a few collage pages of other common characters in Animal Kingdom. Right now all I'm thinking of is Lion King and Pocahontas, who else?! (they don't have to be able to sign the page, just doing a collage for extra characters)

For Hollywood Studios it's mostly pixar and Playhouse Disney right? Who are all the Playhouse Disney characters... Handy Mandy, Little Einsteins, ?? Is that JoJo clown apart of that too?

That is all, :lmao: I think I can handle the other parks!

Thanks :)

Animal Kingdom: Lion King, Pocahontas, Tarzan, Jungle Book, A Bug's Life

Hollywood Studios: Toy Story, Playhouse Disney (Little Einsteins, Handy Manny, My Friends Tigger and Pooh, and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse), The Incredibles, Sorcerer Mickey

Jojo is only appearing at the Play and Dine at H & V, but you could include her if you want to. :goodvibes

Just got back. My own printed version of the autograph books turned out great! Thanks for everyone's support and encouragement as I made them last minute. I had Kinkos spiral bound them and put a nonglossy durable plastic protective cover on the front and back. My girls loooooved them. They were part of my own version of Mickey's Grand Welcome. The characters raved about them repeatedly and my oldest kept telling all of them that Mickey was so sweet to bring them to them. :)

I still did not receive the cash refund by the time we got back from our trip, so I checked w/ our credit card company. We weren't charged. I assumed since Artscow had told me they would refund me by cash, that they had already charged me. Since I had received an email stating my order had already shipped, maybe the lady thought I had already been charged. Still, I checked w/ my credit card company to ensure everything was ok. I didn't find it on my statement, and they didn't find it either so I guess that's why they didn't send the cash. The credit card company did say that what Artscow said about only sending a cash refund was bogus, though. If they can charge by credit, they can refund by credit. All is well, though. I didn't get charged so everything turned out fine. It was just a long, exhausting hassle dealing w/ them. I've ordered other products from them that I was very pleased w/ and am sure I would like to order other things, so I'm trying to get over my nervousness of dealing w/ them again.

Thanks for checking in on me! For all who are making autograph books, you will be so pleased. It is well worth it, and your kids will love it. There were tons of characters out this past week.

I have been fighting with Artscow since last night:headache: I have to many pages in my books so I have a few blanks at the end. I am trying to remove the extra pages.

When I click on add/remove page son top it bring up a slider bar. That bar jumps from 23-31 pages? I only need 26 pages and I have 31?

Any idea how to fix that?

At Animal Kingdom there's also Baloo and Rafiki from Jungle Book. There's also Flik from a Bug's Life. Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, and Eeyore hangout at a specific character spot for them, so they're there all the time. I don't really think of the Winnie the Pooh characters when I think of Animal Kingdom, but they are characters at AK that have w/ meet-n-greets all the time. Lilo and Stitch also have meet-n-greets there too.

Hollywood Studios just recently added Lotso the bear from the new Toy Story movie to their characters. I'm not sure how long they will have him out though.
