A Simple Guide to Making an Autograph Book

How many "blank" pages would you recommend? I'm trying to cut down a big on the size of my books since I'm making 3. My kids are young and while they enjoy some autograph hunting, it's certainly not the focus of our trip. I'm including any character that we'll see at a meal and a few that we've gotten in the past. I want some "blanks" just in case but I think I may have overdone it. Opinions?

Thank you again for this fabulous resource!

Amanda

I had 10 blanks at the end of my book, and it was too many. Of course, I had a lot of characters in my autograph book, plus 3 character meals. If autograph hunting is not your focus, 5 generics will probably be enough. Have you considered just making one "Family Autograph Book"? If your kids are very young, that might work out better. My DS3 wasn't even interested in having his own autograph book and ended up helping his big brother (DS6) get autographs in his instead. :goodvibes

When you open the album (in Photobucket, don't know about 4shared) you have the option on the left hand side to "download this album". You should get one of those annoying popup reCAPTCHA things asking you to type the two words you see, but after you type them in it should ask you where you want to save the zip file to. It will also give you some sort of message that it's a one time download or you can only do it once in a 24 hour period or something like that, but as long as you know where you save it that shouldn't matter. Have fun ;)

Thanks Catpowers! I had no idea you could do that - Cool!! :goodvibes

You're quite welcome :) I love sharing little tidbits like that. Actually, that's the kind of tip that ought to get posted on one of those sticky notes....think of the time it would save people! Though I have to say I don't think many people take the time to read the sticky notes...tsk, tsk, tsk ;)

I like the concept of the Family Book but my 6 and 4 year old have both done this before and know better!:rolleyes1 My 2 year old probably wouldn't care except that we're in the "I do it" stage and he really wants to be a big kid. Since I really tried to limit characters to who I know we've gotten in the past, maybe I'll leave 10 blanks. I think I have more than 10 right now...

I've looked through all of the links and can't seem to find the following pages. (5x7). Anyone know if I'm just missing them?

Snow Queen
Big Al
Wendell
Shaker
Penguin (from mary poppins)

We met all on our last trip but didn't have them in our book. I'm going to take along the cards on our upcoming cruise to see if I can get the signatures to complete our autograph scrapbook.

Thanks

Which Snow Queen are you talking about? The one from Snow White or the one from Chronicles of Narnia?

Thank you so much! The one from Snow White. (Although that would've been awesome to have found the one from Narnia.)

Hi - Did you change the size of DoNatalie's images?
I'm trying to use some of her Character Meals on shutterfly with a 5x7 book and the images are too big.

Yes, for some reason some of Natalie's designs are not precisely 5x7, some are a little larger. If you resize them and then upload them again, they will be fine. :goodvibes

We are using DoNatalie's designs for our kids' autograph pages...can't wait to see the interaction we'll receive from the characters! And my daughter loves them too!

Last year I used cardstock to make my autograph book and had it spiral bound at the top. But I was wondering, what if I used photos instead? Is it harder to write on with the Sharpie? Do you still get the white margins (borders) along the top and sides? I would want some sort of margin at the top so the binding wouldn't be right on the image.

Thanks!

When you have your images printed as photographs (loose or in a bound flipbook), you don't get any borders, just one solid image. Sharpies work just fine on the photographs, but you have to let them dry for 10 seconds or so, so that they don't smear. If you order them as a flipbook, they get bound on the side, and you don't really lose any of the image. :goodvibes

Thanks so much! I really liked how mine turned out last year, so I wasn't sure if I wanted to do anything different or not! But thanks so much for posting that great deal on the photobooks...I'm really going to check that out!

Another photo book question...do you have to make and complete the books by July 3 or if you put the code into your account, can you complete them after that?

Wow!!! Thank you so much for sharing the code with all of us!!! :goodvibes

We just got back from our Disney vacation & I was going to make a book but I didn't want to spend alot of $$$ since I already paid for the Private Photo Session while in Disney & also pre-paid for the Photopass CD. Now I will definitely be making a few books with our trip pics!!!

Thanks again!!!!

Once you put the code into your account, you have 30 days to complete and order your book (which is great for procarastinators like me). :goodvibes

You are very welcome! My trip was in February, and I am just now getting around to making my photobooks. I can't resist a deal this good! :goodvibes

I am so excited to try these ideas out! I consider myself crafty and creative, but sometimes I need a little direction. I haven't even read but two posts and already I can't wait to start and have just subscribed. I just decided to make my own books for our December '10 trip and this will be a huge help! I love all of the pages I can use, especially for the character meals. As soon as the kids are home for the summer (2 days!), I'm going to plan all my summer Disney projects so when I start school back in the fall I'm not behind already! Thanks so much!

Question for all you pros out there: I have roughly a bazillion cards ready to be printed. We're going to be doing character meals at 1900 Park Fare (breakfast), Akershus (breakfast), Crystal Palace (dinner), Cinderella's Royal Table (lunch), Garden Grill (dinner), and Ohana (breakfast). So my question is this: since there is already quite a bit of character overlap between the character meals, should I add the regular autograph cards for those characters as well or skip them to cut down on the number of cards in the book? :confused3 We're going to be there for 10 days if that makes a difference.

I think I'm suffering from planning overload. Passports & autographs & T shirts, oh my!
