Hiho all,

My family has put me in-charge of planning the family vacation for next year (July '08) and I'm trying to decide on which villa to persue, and which room view to request. We'll need a two bedroom, and I think we'd like something with very calming and relaxing sort of view; if at all possible, something that has some water. I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions. Most of us in the party are going to be adults so distance from a bus stop or pool really isn't a problem--we don't mind a good walk.

I've got a couple possible choices picked out but I'm not really sure about them so I thought maybe you guys could help me out a bit :)

This building ( I think it's # 45) at OKW looks like it has an awesome relaxing view of the canal. Can anyone whose stayed there (or knows about it) give the the rundown on it, any two bedrooms that face the canal? Also, I've heard buildings 46, 55, and 56 also all have rooms facing the canal, does anyone have any building or room view pics of those?

This viewand This view from SSR look really cool. I think they are facing downtown Disney? Is that the same building in the picture SSR owners have in their signiture? Has anyone stayed in a room with one of these views? Is it bright/noisy at night? How did you like it? any pics.

My third choice would be a savanna view from AKV. Obviously no one has stayed there yet, but do you think there will still be construction going on around there in July of '08? I know it's probably a long shot to hope to get a room there, but if I did I'd hate to have it ruined by some construction >.<

So, are there any other rooms, resorts, views you can suggest that would work? I just don't want something with a view that really busy.

TIA, any help is greatly appreciated :)

Any of the views of water at OKW to me are very calming. The Congress Park area of SSR is very calming. Certainly you can see the lights of Downtown Disney and hear the music but not it not loud and we find the lights to be very lovely on the water.

You did not mention how many in your group but if I had more than 4, I would definitely want the 2 bedroom at OKW for the large living and kitchen area.

I agree with Sammie...ANY OKW water view room would fill that bill. Our favs are 45,46,56,16,20

I'll go one step further. Almost any view at OKW is calming and relaxing. Whether a water view or golf course view. Second would be almost any view at SSR.

Sorry, we have 8. 7 adults and a little one who's 2.

Thanks for the advice so far!

There's also the "Preferred View" at BWV with a view of the canal between BWV and WDW Swan & Dolphin... I could sit on that balcony and watch boats for hours...

IMO.. (Probabily not on your list of options) VB and HHI have the most relaxing views.. :thumbsup2 You can't beat the VB oceanview... But the "marshview" from the Inn at HHI is close second...

We stayed in a 1 br at SSR (the first SSR link in your post - the building with the gazebo nearby). We were on the 3rd floor - our balcony was the 2nd from the left when looking at the pix). Our view was mainly of West Side & the Cirque de Soleil - very pretty at night. To the right of Cirque de Soleil is a large parking lot - that made up about 1/3 of our "front view" but that didn't bother us at all. That building is very close to AP & the main pool - maybe 10 - 12 minutes to reach DTD. We didn't find it to be bright or noisy - we could hear a little music with the patio doors open but absolutely none when they were closed.

The year before, we were in the next building over in CP. To be honest, I much preferred that location (much closer to the CP quiet pool & the bus stop).

If you'd like to see some pix, let me know & I'll post them for you!

I think all of OKW is calming.

I loved my view from SSR in Congress Park - facing Fultons...I did not find it loud or bright at night at all.

In the morning as I sat on the balcony I could sometimes "hear" activity over at Downtown Disney but it was not distracting at all.

I want to go back - now.

We stayed at SSR, Congress Park, room 2825. I do know we were one bldg. over from the quiet pool. We were on the top floor and had an amazing view of the West Side. It was a gorgeous view and not at all loud. Just the opposite, it was tranquil and quiet. I was sick as a dog and didn't sleep much and so I spent endless hours outside on the balcony just staring at my view. I have great pictures, but I'm clueless on how to post them, sorry.

had building 45 - can't recommend it.

had a studio on the end. It has Mickey's face on the balcony and it is an excellent view of the canal.

the problem - the buses and those carts that the staff runs around in - there is a slight hill - so everyone is rushing to the STOP SIGN at the top made no sense to me at all.

very, very, very noisey - worst the buses started at 6:30am and didn't stop until 3:00am. I know I heard them. of course it could be those carts they were a constantly noise.

can recommend building 55 or 18 - both have better water views and are definitely much, much quieter.

disney really, really needs to sound proof building 45 much, much better. In all my trips it was definitely the worst for noise.

I was luck if I got 4 hours of sleep - and trying to nap in the daytime was not good - because if it wasn't a bus, it was a cart.

Spicey,
I think because you had a studio in 45. They are on the ends. I can tell u, we were in the middle of the bldg in a 2 bedroom and didn't even hear a whisper of the busses. We slept like babies in #45. I really do feel the studios have the worst views at OKW. #45 is one of my absolute fav bldgs.
The one bldg where we had a one bedroom in and heard the busses was #62. Nice view from 62 and we could even see/hear Illuminations, but the busses were noisy especially in the morning when sitting out on the balcony. Here's our view from our 1 bedroom #62:
We were on the end, and the road was just off to the left. VERY close to the HH/main pool though :
