A Rebuttal: Top 5(+) things that are better at Walt Disney World than at Disneyland

Our good friend Jack Burgin couldn't resist posting a reply to my recent article.


Bigger may not always be better, as Tom Bell posts, but it isn't always worse, either. So while Mr. Bell has laid out his "Top 5" things at Disneyland that are "better" than at Walt Disney World, I can't resist countering Mr. Bell's article with one that lists, in my view, the Top 5(+) things that are better at Walt Disney World. I enjoyed this! I agreed with everything Tom Bell wrote in his first piece, and I'd like to add:

6) THE WEATHER!

And I agreed with everything Jack says in his rebuttal, and I'd like to add:

6) THE CASTLE!

I don't get these comparisons about one thing being better at on resort or another. They both have things that make them unique and different neither is better then the other.

I don't think anyone is trying to say one is completely better than the other. Each gentleman is saying that there are CERTAIN THINGS at each resort that are better than at the other. Very specific things. I

I can't speak for Tom about WDW, though I have seen him in EPCOT at least once , but I just returned from DL and it was one of the most enjoyable Disney vacations I've ever experienced.

And I'm definitely one of those people who will shout that from the rooftops. I spent my whole childhood and young adulthood at WDW before checking out DL and I'm so glad I now have TWO happy places.

I can't believe I waited 50+ years to go to DL. Los Angeles itself (absent the traffic) was much more enjoyable than I anticipated and everything folks have been saying about DL and its cast members was borne out with my experience.

Now, I'm still going to tease about WDW v. DL but as I said, they are just different parks each with their own merits and detractions.

You hit the nail on the head! These are both fabulous, fun, rich vacation destinations, and the fact that they are NOT carbon copies of each other adds to the enjoyment of both of them, in my humble opinion.

No People mover Disneyland is a tough pill for me. I love the one at WDW so much.

True story - I never ever got a chance to ride those silly Rocket Rods. They put them up, there were terrible lines, they took them down.

Indeed. I am very protective of WDW. For as much as many of the decisions that Have been made lately that I don't necessarily always like (Hello FP+), I still have an affection for the place. Put that down as growing up literally with the park. It is is some ways MY Park. MY HOME. For as much as I have decided to take a break from it. There is a huge part of me that hopes it will improve in the future.

I still get misty about the first time I saw Epcot as a kid.

Another plus to WDW. WE have FIGMENT. I love that purple and pink guy. I know that this is sentimental

I should clarify and ambiguity in my post. Nancy was militant about Disneyland. I think their discussion on this topic is one of the "better" podcasts they have done.
