And just to get this thread back on something like a dining question rotfl: )... What can I drink instead of cider that isn't beer but doesn't make me look like a lame girly-girl down at the pub?

Yes, IMO summer is the only time for Pimms (not just for boat races - polo too =) )and lucky for you it is that time of year! When my parents come back from Scotland they make fake Shandys and they aren't bad. I bet the real deal would be tasty. There is a new beer out around here from a microbrewery called "Summer Shandy" and it is lemony and delicious. Try one, I think you'll like it. You can also try a snake bite - 1/2 lager 1/2 cider - cuts the sweetness. Is it happy hour yet?

Didnt anyone suggest Polynesian and a Laupu Laupu? (served in a pineapple - lots of rum!! - then you can walk on the beach to watch WISHES!!)

If you are a cider girl, i dont know if I would suggest the single malt scotch (I bought dh 1 single malt scotch for Father's day - and Jameson's - very harsh, and a bottle of Drambuie - I'll pick Drambuie over single malt scotch!)

BUT if you are looking for a beer - then if you are at the Boardwalk most brewery's have a "fruity" beer - our Brewery here has a "RAZ" beer that is good - Sam Adam's has a Cherry Wheat and then Liningukel (sorry I'm botching this Wisconsin beer !) A summer brew that is lemony!

If they dont, the brewery here told me their secret to the Raz - have a shot of Chambord added to a pale ale!!! AWESOME!!

He really is. I'm loving his cardigan this year. He's just such a gentleman. And I love that his girlfriend isn't some skinny little blonde girl.

I didn't mean to be snarky, I'm sorry. What I really meant to say was that I was all excited and giggly about the idea, like a schoolgirl.

I enjoy a good single malt in the winter (especially if I've got the sniffles) and luckily there's a ton of local distilleries to chose from.

The Raz sounds like it could be right up my alley! I shall attempt it the next time I'm down at the pub. Have I mentioned how great all the people at the DIS are at helping a girl out? I love it here.

My Scottish accent is abysmal. I've got a nice posh English one I can do, but that's about it.
