A Quiet Drink?

I love the Territory Lounge in WL. Lots of atmosphere and the cocktail menu
is VAST. Good luck!

The absolute best little tucked away, quiet, lovely place is the bar area at Jiko... plus it is the only place to get an AMAZING little drink called the Chocolate Covered Cherry. They also have a huge number of African wines.

This bar has been very busy the last few times, familes are using the cocktail tables to wait for a Boma table, so much for a little quiet time and romance......

So back to the Bellevue Room we go........

Hmm... Interesting... Is "she" hoping for some romantical adventures ?? Is "she" going with a significant other or anything like that ?? If so, hopefully she will be careful.

Oh, if I see "her", "she" will know it is me if I say "Rrrrrr, you looking for someone, poppet ??" :lmao:

Sorry, couldn't resist.

Good luck to "her" !!

'She's' always up for a romantical adventure. And until 'she' finds a man willing to make 'her' a DFTW Bride she considers herself single and ready to mingle! ;) :rotfl:

That is super tempting. Wilderness Lodge is so beautiful. And who can resist an impressive cocktail menu? Certainly not 'my friend.' :thumbsup2

And thanks everyone for the suggestions! ::yes::

Keep us updated on "your friend's" meeting. Now you have us all intrigued.pixiedust:

We love Martha's Vineyard and the Crew's Cup at the Yacht Club! Both excellent places! Not too stuffy and quiet.
I used to like Victoria Falls, but it's gotten so busy because of the wait times at Boma and Jiko.

AMEN! If you're at AKL in the evening there is also the spot to watch the animals through night vision goggles. In case conversation fails and your friend is looking for a distracting activity:rolleyes1

That could be chancing. You don't know what nocturnal activity those animals maybe up to. You might not want to give hints.

ok---not sure where you are staying, or else, I blew right past it in your post, BUT, I have TWO options for you, one resort related and one park related----

Wilderness Lodge, has a quiet (complete with fireplace) sitting area on the second floor, if you're in the lobby facing the pool, turn around, look straight up, take the stairs, after getting a drink from the bar, and sit by the fire enjoying your "friends" company!! EXTREMELY romantic!!

Next---if you're in a park, I swear, at least to me, there are none more romantic than Epcot! Get a margarita in the Mexican pavillion, then stroll, hand in hand, maybe, or sit by the lagoon, with a gentle breeze blowing just talking, just you and your "friend!"

I am a to the bone romantic, and I have YET to find a park that brings out the "hold my hand, let's stroll around" feeling better!!

Good luck!

Victoria Falls, with it's "Boma overlook" is much too noisy. Of the places mentioned, I'd go with Mizners or the Bellvue Room.

I have to agree with the Bellevue Room at the Boardwalk Inn, very cozy and very quiet.

But nothing to distract, should the conversation lag! It is nice, but nothing to do but watch the resort guests head to the elevator, unless you want to play a game of chess.

OP doesn't sound like the chess type! LOL!

I did think about the Tamu lounge at Poly - this is a busy place, but it has great tropical drinks (and you can get lovely appies as well), and then you can go for a walk down to the Poly beach ot watch Wishes.

How 'bout that?

You actually can sit outside on the porch that overlooks the Boardwalk area which is a really nice thing to do. But, even the Bellvue can be crowded and noisy if people are waiting for tables at FF and Spoodles.

I just have to say this is a marvelous thread! I hope the OP's "friend" can take advantage of several of these places on the next trip and ones thereafter! ::yes::

DH & I were looking for places like this ourselves. Married 20 years...kids are pretty grown...a little romantic drink on vaca.... :thumbsup2

Thank you for starting this thread :flower3:

Have only experienced busy 2x and that was much later in the evening when conference dinners are out......

Bellvue is still my pick!

Can we have some information? Such as when might your friend meet this person? hummmmmm?
Just simple stuff like where did your friend pick? Date? Time? Just in case some of us are there. Would love to lend your friend some moral support;)

You're totally right. I'm a naval historian, so Battleship is way more my thing! :thumbsup2

No problem at all! I kinda hate to dissapoint everybody, but I should probably mention that this will be more of a fact-finding mission for 'my friend' than the start of any grand romance. 'My friend' will still live in the UK and will for years to come doing a PhD. But sometimes ya just gotta know where you stand with someone, ya know?

No decisions have been made as yet. The trip isn't for another couple months. But I promise to keep everybody posted. Just in case there are any juicy details. :rotfl2: :p

We like to go to California Grill about a half hour-hour before closing which I think is 11pm, for a night cap. The restaurant has dyed down considerably by then, in fact sometimes we are the only ones in the bar, with only a couple tables left. Provides a great view for atmosphere, but its not really a "romantical" atmosphere, at least in my opinion:)

Hubby and I have done this on several occasions only we get drinks at the pool bar and take them down to the beach to watch the fireworks. It's really nice!

We eat at Boma and/or Jiko every trip and I've always found the bar crowded. It's probably better later in the evening but the last time we were there (last January) we couldn't even get a seat in Victoria Falls.

Just head to the California Grille Bar because the ambience is great, and you can always retreat to the roof deck and observe silmutaneous fireworks from Wishes and Illuminations.

We love the BelleVue Room at the Boardwalk, and the regular bar tender, Tim (I think that's his name) is terrific. The place is usually fairly quiet, although it has sometimes seemed a bit noisy if there is a convention group there. Since it is up the stairs and separate from Flying Fish and Spoodles Restaurants, it doesn't appear to be a place to hang your hat while waiting for a table. The porch area is nice for viewing the lake and watching the action on the Boardwalk below.

They play old radio programs at night, which can be distracting if the romance thing isn't playing out so well. Also, you're just up the stairs from the Boardwalk, with street performers and games.

Is there anywhere in Port Orleans or Old Key West? :confused3 I was going through the list in my head and I couldn't remember any.

OKW has a tiny little bar --Gurgling Suitcase, I believe it's called. Nothing quiet about it.
